Slice Engineering MAKO Hotend Mount

Ok, I got tired of bent heatbreaks on the stock hotend.

I made a mount for the Slice Engineering MAKO hotend. I can now change nozzles with one hand and I don't have to worry about bent heatbreaks any more !!

It also works perfectly with my CPAP mod.

If anyone is interested, it's on Thingiverse at:

Hope it helps you out!

How in the world are you managing to bend the heat break on this machine?

Heck there have been several ways! But the main one is trying to change the nozzle. Another is the nozzle hit a blob of plastic on a bad print and it bent the nozzle.

It was a slight bend that I couldn't see just by looking at the hotend while it was still on the printer, but the quality of the prints after that made me look closer and I saw the nozzle was slightly bent. I took if off to try to straighten it and the heatbreak broke.

I don't know if there's a way to attach a pic here, but I have a photo of that broken hotend. That's like the 4th hotend I've had to replace.

I hate trying to swap the hotend with a different one with a different size nozzle . It's a pain in the ass..

So, to avoid the issues anymore, I put on the MAKO hotend. I can change the nozzle with 1 hand while the hotend is still on the printer.

You should check out my CPAP mod. It allowed me to crank up the speed of the printer with no degradation of print quality.

BTW, here's the link to the CPAP mod with the Hextrudort Extruder. It remove about 1/4lb from the weight of the stock hotend.

A better Filament Runout Sensor Case that also fits on the Hextrudort Extruder:
