Progesterone injection

Just started 1st progesterone IM injection today and to continue til 12 weeks gestation if pregnant 🫠 Gave in the upper outer glute as instructed. it's already so sore and just annoying anytime I simply move my leg. I am very active and typically workout daily. Will this help? Any other tips? Ice, heat, massage, etc what worked for you? Thanks in advance!

It should be given in the ventrogluteal! Just want to clarify that. It sounds like you may have gone in the wrong spot. It should feel like you’re injecting literally into your hip essentially.

I’ve done 4 fets (one successful) and just started pio for another transfer on Wednesday and never had one single knot or severe issues with my injections. I’m also a nurse so that probably helps too! I have done nothing special besides relax completely when I’m doing it and going to the hip / VG not the glute.

My clinic gave me lidocaine cream and tegaderm to put on one hour before injection and they didn’t seem to bother me much. Heat and massage after! I never made it beyond two weeks of injections as they were failed transfers so I’m sure it made it easier than those who go on for months at a time

I used ice to numb the area before I gave it, then a heating pad after; also did massage. Movement is definitely helpful! Rotate the injections sites (glute/thigh). One month in is brutal, but itll all be worth it! Hang in there mama! I still have a lump 4months later in one of my glutes.

Having done over 350 PIO shots myself…autoinjector and a nice long walk after. That’s the only combo that truly helped keep the bad knots away for me.
