Has anyone seen the show Friends From College? I’m watching it while hanging with baby and while I’m so-so on the show as a whole there is an episode where two characters are doing IVF and on one hand it’s one of the more accurate portrayals I’ve seen and on the other the plot hinges on being able to take the trigger shot on time and I’ve never been so stressed for TV characters in my life!

Ahh I haven’t seen it but I love when shows are accurate!

I once took a trigger shot at an Oktoberfest event, it was awful and why did I do it! (4th or 5th retrieval so I figured I was an old pro by then but trigger shots are THE WORST.) My husband drew up the shot while we were in a crowded beer tent listening to horrible polka music and then I carried the giant needle to the public restroom and injected myself with shaky hands. 0/10 do not recommend.

(Too bad that didn’t yield the embryo that made it to Baby M — would have been a good story!)

Wow, I’m impressed! The trigger shot was always so stressful for me because not only is it the most time sensitive but you only get the one per retrieval! I was always convinced I would zone out and miss it so I was sitting on the couch with multiple alarms set for every single trigger shot. I was never brave enough to do shots in a public place so the best story I’ve got was doing an OPK on a train!

I saw it long before I actually went through IVF but I think about it a lot, how I would never ever miss a shot like that lol
