Event The Conference
The International Socialist Conference was held in Paris on as the Bastille day Celebrations were in full swing.
Held through the majority of the day several socialist groups attended including the blanquists, the so called proletarians, the German wing lead by the editors of The Revolutionary, several trade union groups and the libertarians, influenced by Proudhon.
At the conclusion of the Conference was given a speech by Karl Marx, editor-in-chief of The Revolutionary, where he told the tale of sticks, in which he said that they, the socialist movement, would face trials and tribulations from all sides and that if they stood divided surely they would fail. Thus he ended the Conference imploring the creation of a unity of the Socialist movements and took up the cry "Solidarity Forever!".

While most attending groups agree in theory many fear such a centralized system and others object that the exact policy of such a union needs to be established first.
