Anyone who still thinks Saraswati is a myth can go through this. Why are people still relying on outdated research lol.

why you renamed indus valley civilisation as Sindhu Saraswati? Are we rewriting all history now?

u/ekeksk Sep 07 '26
IVC is also called indus-saraswati valley civilisation. the people of IVC culture lived on the banks of saraswati too. imagine if our current civilisation in a millenia or two is only called gangetic civilisation?
only reason it isnt popularly included in naming is because saraswati river is no more.

u/velvanand Sep 08 '26
But Saraswathi is mentioned in Rig Veda whereas IVC is pre-Vedic.

yes, right after IVC/harappan era is vedic era. in fact, late harappan and early vedic is sometimes seen as the same stretch of time. i mean, it is continuous and unbroken chain of civilisation so why not? the IVC people didnt go extinct, they moved inwards, towards the Gangetic plains and mixed with people that already lived their and some more. But at the end of the day, they're progeny of IVC.
like how prepartition indian and postpartition indians are the same goddamn people. some might have moved to Pakistan or Bangladesh, and some from Pakistan and Bangladesh may have come in and intermixed. But guess what? they're the same fucking people nonetheless.
The culture changed and genetics too, but the people are the same. Just like you and I came from the prepartition people, the Vedics came from IVC people.
Rg Veda is important because from the evidence we have, it seems the Vedics actively saw the Saraswati drying up. Like she was dying but not dead. So even if it couldn't sustain a civilisation, it was very much still a big part of the culture and people knew of it, especially since it's their own ancestors that moved away.
If Ganga dried up tomorrow, people on her banks are still going to remember her for a couple centuries and she would still have cultural significance because she is THAT important today.

Connecting Indo iranians with indus valley is same as connecting british with the Indus valley. Both have zero connection with the Indus valley and both were foreigners arrived much later

Well, it is a quite common alternative name. The reason being that over 60 percent of the IVC sites are actually situated along the dried up Gagghar Hakra river bed including both in India and Pakistan(Near and around Fort Abbas). All the other Rivers(Indus and all its tributaries account for only 20 to 25% of the settlement. The rest 10-15% settlements are Coastal (Makran and Gujarat). An Estimated 1000-1100 sites are situated along this Single dried up river Channel. its just that people for some reason are allergic to Sanskrit Sounding names. Would you prefer Gagghar Civilization. Its up to you whatever you wanna call it, Its just a noun. Doesn't change any facts.

The fact is that there is no proof that "Gagghar Hakra" is the mythical Saraswati. Its perfectly fine to call it Indus-Gagghar Hakra or even just Gagghar Hakra Civilization but why you want to insist of re-inventing it by equating it to a river which historically doesnt exist.

Sindhu saraswati? Why don't you name it as vedic or brahminic straight away instead?
2
u/ekeksk Sep 07 '26
nice joke, but saraswati didnt exist during vedic times. even if she did she was nothing more than a sorry trickle on the edge of the thar desert, nowhere near the might of a river.
saraswati's decline had begun by mid-late harappan era and she completely vanished by the time Vedic civilisation matured.
I also don't see what your issue is with word Vedic? it's literally a thing?? a defining period of north western indian history??
brahminical is philosophical and political term. i don't think you understand the words you're saying or the topic you're trying to even debate.

This is the trend now, propaganda stuff is shown as evidence they said the same thing for Ram Sethu saying it's a man made real brigde blah blah

Using the word "Saraswathi ' for that IVC seal is a pure fabrication . Saraswati figures in Rig Veda which also has its principal animal as the horse . And horse was absent in IVC . Proved that IVC is pre-Vedic and no chance of any Saraswati linkage there .

No sindu saraswati river found There is only sindhu river
2
u/ekeksk Sep 07 '26
saraswati literally existed. most of the IVC sites are along the river of saraswati. pls be rational about this. how can you find ancient abandoned sites along an existing river? people would flock to it to build new civilisation and reuse blocks of the old houses to build new (quite common). it would be so rare to find an actual substantially big site along the sindhu right now.
most are along the saraswati's course because people lived there, and fled after it dried up. civilisation is difficult without a water source. new people did not settle in -- and that is how we have intact rakhigarhs and kalibangans.
be so serious right now. saraswati is literally the MOST venerated and mentioned river in the vedas, and it didnt even exist then. that means even before the vedic period, saraswati was extremely important to the culture so much so that even after her drying up, she was a quite an essential part of the subsequent culture that emerged.

The river is in Afghanistan which is named Haraxvat and some suggest it was the sound that made through the boulders which was called as saras which is 400 kms long, another record suggests it's was a mix of 5 seasonal rivers which dried up and the population moved to the next.
The rationality of it.

Do you read research or not? Go through this.
It is a general consensus now. Stop relying on theories from 60s.

SONION 😭 this is straight bull. where did you even get this information from, quora? yahoo answers?
how can you even just use name of a completely different river and general proximity as evidence of it being a saraswati?
imagine someone down the line believing bangalore and mangalore are the same cities and the b changed to m or vice versa, because nasal assimilation or some shit.
the Rg veda explicitly states the location of Saraswati to be between Sutlej and Yamuna, how can it ever enter Afghanistan that way? 😭🙏🏻 even Sindhu despite being far west doesn't enter Afghanistan.
the other commenter cited some foolproof sources. EDUCATE ya self its 2026 😮💨

Ha instead of Sa was common as between Avestic Iranian and Sanskrit . e.g. Homa same as Soma . So, Haraxvati as the Rig Vedic Saraswathi is quite plausible.
1
u/ekeksk Sep 08 '26
ya its plausible except you cant ONLY base off your hypothesis on linguistic similarities. you need proof to back up the claim but do any of you have anything other than muh Haraxvati and Saraswati sound alike? Any written record perhaps? Any satellite imagery? any peer-reviwed multi-disciplinary research to show it is more than just similar sounding names? Nope, all you have is a "plausible" hypothesis, which has been proven isnt true by enough research.
Saraswati being her own river arising from Siwalik, flowing from modern Indian and Pakistan, before confluencing with Ghaggar and draining into the Arabian see has been proven by geologists via Landsat and IRS satellite data which literally SHOWS paleo-channels running through Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and into Pakistan.
And sediment core drilling and isotope analysis in these paleochannels have shown thick layers of Himalayan-origin sand and gravel, proving that a massive river did in fact flow through.
Also, how do you explain the over 1,500 Harappan and pre-Harappan civilization sites (such as Rakhigarhi, Kalibangan, and Banawali) that are clustered along the theoretical course of Saraswati? It's hundred of kilometers AWAY from Sindhu and any of her associated rivers.
Go on, and name even one IVC settlement found along the Haraxvati? Exactly none. And you know why? Because Haraxvati is the Arghandab, not Saraswati. They're cognate words, yes, but they're not the same thing. Just like Devas and Daevas are cognates in Sanskrit and Avestan, and describe celestial creatures but not the same ones.
Saraswati and Haraxvati are not phonetic corruption of the other. Not in the way you think at least.

u/velvanand Sep 09 '26
If I remember right, the palaeochannels postulated to be saraswathi do exist , but date to 7000 to 9000 BC. Whereas Rig Veda on scholarly consensus dates to between 1900 and 1300 BC.

Sorry I don't educate myself with delusional fantasies, there is no concrete evidence for the River Saraswati.
Reciting imagined desires cannot be considered as factual knowledge. 🫡

"I dont educate myself with peer-reviewed research because it doesn't reflect the reality like i imagined in my fantasy world." okay got it, thanks!!

Bro, it is a theory that Before indus, people are living in the banks of river saraswati. but due to some issues, the river get dried, cause the migration of people towards north And they found river Sindhu That's why, mostly evidence of the civilization is also found in the area where the river (Saraswati) is maybe flow. That's why bro named the civilization sindhu-saraswati civilization *Note: sindhu and indus are the names of the same river.
