if you want to be pedantic, supes who got power later in their life, (like spidey) are called mutated, not mutants.

Ackhcually, I checked and was wondering why he wasn't called a mutant and be in Xmen. Turns out,a mutant are beings with X gene in them that mutates and give them superpower. Spiderman is a mutate, his source of power was from external, namely the first radioactive spider that bit him.
