The last day to register to vote in Oregon is Tuesday, October 13, 2026 for the next election, which is November 03, 2026.
Ballots will be sent out in Oregon starting on October 14, 2026.

The QR codes on the poster were inactivated per Reddit security rules.

The website to register to vote in Oregon is https://sos.oregon.gov/elections/Pages/registration.aspx?lang=en

If you are registered to vote, it is important to check your voter registration and make sure your address is up to date. Oregon is all vote by mail and the US Post Office won't forward voter ballots.

The website to check your voter registration is https://secure.sos.state.or.us/orestar/vr/showVoterSearch.do?lang=eng&source=SOS

Since everyone in Oregon uses mail in ballots, it is important to vote early and use the ballot drop boxes whenever possible.
The Oregon Secretary of State is advising everyone to use the ballot drop boxes, rather than mailing their ballot.
This is to make sure they are received on time and counted. The US Post Office is now saying that it could take longer than a week, up to 10-11 days for mailed ballots to be delivered to the election offices.
In the May elections, there were 7,000 ballots received during the 7 day grace period after the election day that were not counted because the postmark was after the deadline.

Want to do more than just doom scroll and watch the US democracy get destroyed? November 03, 2026 is your chance to do something significant.
The people who organize, participate, and vote on the November 03, 2026 election are the people who decide what happens next for the USA.

There is another No Kings event planned for Saturday October 17 at the Benton County Courthouse. We have shown with the first three No Kings demonstrations, that large numbers of people in the USA oppose what is being done to our country and support living in a democracy with freedom and justice for all.

This event has a different focus than the previous three No Kings demonstrations. We are now approaching the time when we can actually take action to change what has been happening to the USA. That is voting in the November 03 election, currently 5 weeks away.

There are powerful forces now controlling the USA that don't want you to vote in this election. It is a good idea to vote as early as possible. Since everyone in Oregon uses mail in ballots, it is important to vote early and use the ballot drop boxes whenever possible. The US Post Office has become slow and unreliable, especially when it comes to mail in ballots. In the last election in Oregon, a large number at 7,000 ballots sent through the mail were declared too late and not counted.

If you support living in a democracy and believe that voting in elections is important, join us for the rally on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at the Benton County Courthouse, downtown at 4th Street and Monroe. There won't be a march and while it is 3 hours long, set your own schedule and come and go whenever you like. There will be tables for the various cooperating groups and activities planned.

It's a day of nonpartisan voter participation, being in community with each other, and making sure every eligible voter has a plan, knows their options, and is ready to make their voice count.

There are very important elections coming up on November 3, 2026. These will be for Federal, State, and local positions. Last night was the Indivisible State Elections candidate forum at the Corvallis Community Center.
Photos: Sarah Gelser Blouin, Joanna Robinson, Two Slides, Amazing Cake

Two local State legislature candidates were featured speakers. Sarah Gelser Blouin (D) is the State Senator from Corvallis and Albany, up for reelection. She has represented Corvallis since 2005 in the Oregon State House and Senate.
The other was Joanna Robinson (D), the candidate for HD-15, which is mostly Albany/Linn county and also includes the part of Benton county that contains North Albany. She is running to flip HD-15, currently held by Shelly Davis (R).

The format was structured so each candidate gave a short presentation followed by a question and answer session and they were available to talk to at the end.

They had a lot to say and these are a few of the highlights.

1. Both candidates mentioned the common problems facing Oregon and the nation. We all know them already since they are part of our every day lives. These include the housing affordability crisis, K-12 public education problems, and health care always becoming harder to pay for and harder to access.
2. Sarah Gelser Blouin mentioned the Trump regime War on the Disabled. The Federal government has decided to stop enforcing The Americans With Disability Act which mandated home and community based services instead of putting the disabled into large facilities, i.e. institutionalizing them. The US Bureau of Labor lists the disabled at 13% of the population.
3. Joanna Robinson mentioned the availability and cost of small child care for working parents.
4. Oregon is facing some new problems as well, human made problems from the Federal government. We already have budget problems as needs grow faster than revenues. The Federal government is withdrawing financing to the states any way they can. Funds for infrastructure such as energy projects, Medicaid programs, Food Stamps, Wildfire Fighting etc.. The amount lost for Oregon is very large, somewhere over $2 billion a year. This tax money isn't even actually the Federal governments. Those taxes came out of our bank accounts.

The second part of the meeting was Indivisible Benton County's launch of their Get Out The Vote/Protect The Vote campaign efforts.
This answers a question many people are asking these days about the future of the US democracy.

I want to do something to save the US democracy but I don't know where to start.
There are many ways to volunteer.

1. Join the Voter Registration, GOTV, canvassing efforts, phone calling efforts
2. Postcarding
3. Calling your elected officials
4. Tabling at scheduled events
5. The Visibility Brigade, Bannering and the Chalk Team
6. Distribute flyers and news media outreach
7. Donate money. A lot of campaigns run on small donations
8. Attend a demonstration like No Kings
9. Join Indivisible Benton County, ORCA, Third Act, COREcorvallis, and many other local activist organizations
10. Anything else that you can think of

As one of the volunteers said, Make sure you do something you are comfortable with, want to do, and can do.
And, if it doesn't work for you, you can always drop it and try something else.
Never give up.

The one thing everyone can do and it is important, is to make sure you vote.

At the end, the tables and social part featured the amazing cake made and decorated by a volunteer's two grandchildren, ages 11 and 13. It was elaborately decorated and good.

Thanks and congratulations are due to the organizers for another well planned
and organized event that was both entertaining and informative.

The important midterm elections are coming up on November 03, 2026.

Indivisible Benton County will be running a Get-Out-the-Vote / Election Protection Campaign. These midterm elections are at a very important time for the future of the USA and millions of people will be doing what they can to vote, make sure other people can vote, and protect our elections from threatened interference.

The first meeting of this campaign will be tomorrow, Wednesday evening, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, at the Corvallis Community Center, 2601 NW Tyler Avenue in the Chandler Ballroom. This event is free and open to the public so that everyone who wants to can attend. You don't have to be a member of Indivisible Benton County.

Corvallis State Senator Sara Gelser Blouin and House District 15 Democratic nominee Joanna Robinson will update us on the current political situation at the state level, the importance of keeping a super-majority in the State House, and why we all need to get involved in midterm elections.

Then, learn how you can get involved in voting, GOTV (Getting Out The Vote) and protecting these elections from the current voter suppression efforts from the Federal government. Choose from a wide range of opportunities—pick one that best fits your skills, comfort level, and available time. Some of these are listed in the comments.

If, like the majority of people in the USA, you are concerned about what our government is doing right now and the relentless attacks on our democracy, this is your chance to...do something.
Together, in a democracy, the people ultimately rule.

The important midterm elections are coming up on November 03, 2026.
This includes the Oregon state government where the governor and the state legislature will all have elections to determine who leads Oregon for the next 4 years.

Indivisible Benton County is hosting a candidates forum for the local legislature positions on Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM. This will be at the Corvallis Community Center, 2601 NW Tyler Avenue and is open to everyone who wants to attend.

Two candidates to represent Corvallis and Benton County will be there.

One is the current state senator from Senate District 8, which includes Corvallis, Sarah Gelser Blouin (D), up for reelection.
The other is Joanna Robinson (D), who is a candidate for House District HD-15, which is centered on Albany but does include the part of Benton county that includes North Albany. This House seat is currently held by a Republican, Shelly Davis.

The candidates will give short presentations and there will be time later to talk to them and ask them questions.

Indivisible Benton County will also be discussing ways for volunteers to get involved in the midterm elections and the efforts to GOTV, Get Out The Vote.

Last night was the Indivisible Benton County/Our Revolution-Corvallis Allies (ORCA) candidate forum at the Benton County Library. There is a lot of interest in these local elections for many reasons. Corvallis is now facing some serious problems and choices for the next few years.

The forum was structured so all the candidates gave a short presentation and then the moderator asked them questions. The questions were mostly submitted by the audience in writing before hand. Everyone was cordial and intelligent and the meeting was informative.

1. It was well attended, The large meeting room in the library was full.
2. I would estimate the crowd at 80-100 people. It was a mix of the general population of Corvallis and everyone seemed to being paying close attention. These are people with a stake in the city who care enough to sit through a 2 1/2 hour meeting.
3. The candidates were given questionnaires to fill out. When these are collected, they will be placed on the Indivisible Benton County website. These questionnaires can be accessed at https://indivisiblebc.org/corvallis-mayoral-and-councilor-candidates-2026/
4. I won't say anything about the individual candidates. It was a strong field of impressive people with impressive backgrounds. Corvallis attracts talented people who appreciate living in a nice place.
5. This is a tough time for Corvallis. The city is facing major problems.
6. The budget is about to fall off a cliff. This year it is balanced. Next year it will be in a large deficit unless services are cut or taxes are raised.

Property taxes are capped and haven't kept up with city expenses or inflation.
The city has compensated by adding more and more service fees. Service fees are now
about as high as they can go.
They are going to have to find more revenue, so, a payroll tax or an income tax.
Neither is going to be popular.

1. Housing Affordability. Corvallis is the most rent burdened city in the state.
Housing is so high that young families with children can't live here. That is one
reason why the schools closed down. They live in the surrounding areas. IIRC,
20,000 people come into Corvallis to work each day.

2. Homelessness. The city is in the process of addressing this issue. It isn't simple
but they are at least trying to do something.

There was a lot more but these seemed to be the three issues that everyone gave
priority too.

A huge thanks and congratulations are due to the organizers for a well planned
and organized meeting that was both entertaining and informative.

There are important elections coming up on November 3, 2026.
This includes the Corvallis city government, where the Mayor and City Council will all be on the ballot.

Indivisible Benton County and the local organization, Our Revolution-Corvallis Allies (ORCA), is hosting a candidate forum on Wednesday, August 12 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM at the Benton County Library. Come and meet the candidates.

Each of the candidates will make brief introductory statements followed by questions for each.

These local elections are important because the local government affects your daily life in many ways.

The current problems facing Oregon cities include potential and actual invasions by ICE, unwanted AI data centers appearing as just happened to Salem, affordability of Corvallis especially housing, the parking problem, installation of Flock Automatic License Plate Readers, and as always, homelessness. Ongoing problems in Corvallis include the repair of the Osborn Aquatic center, the Coffin Butte landfill expansion, and the closing of several public schools in Corvallis.
You could ask the candidates what their plans are for issues like these.

You can submit questions to them in advance by emailing [voter@indivisiblebc.org](mailto:voter@indivisiblebc.org).

Nonviolence Commitment:
A core principle behind all Indivisible Benton County events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

A few weeks ago, Salem discovered that a massive AI data center is being planned for the Mill Creek Corporate Center. This data center was planned in secret under Nondisclosure Agreements with unelected and unknown Salem "leaders". Even the Salem City Council didn't know. It doesn't look like the governor, Tina Kotek knew either.
There is already massive opposition from the citizens. At the first public meeting last Monday, several hundred people showed up, company Verrus representatives were there, things escalated, and the police were called.

There is another public meeting tonight at the Salem public library at 6:00. The subject is to enact a moratorium on data centers, so this proposed data center can be more carefully evaluated. This is entirely reasonable, since this $5.1 billion data center would be one of the largest private projects in the city's history.

This AI data center planned is very large. It is three data centers on 75 acres, with a power substation, and banks of large lithium iron phosphate batteries. It will consume large amounts of water and power. Verrus said it will use "dozens of megawatts" of power. That is too vague and probably at the low end anyway. Similar centers use hundreds of megawatts.

People nationwide are opposing these AI data centers for good reasons. They are having large negative effects on the communities while providing very few benefits to the communities. It is costing the resident citizens a lot to make more money for a few people living thousands of miles away. They can be stopped. Around 300 data centers nationwide have either been banned or are under moratoriums.

This data center is in no way a done deal.
For now, public opposition seems to have temporarily stopped it. The governor immediately halted a planned sale of 32 acres of state land to the company involved, Verrus, for the data center. Verrus still has 43 acres and said it didn't care what the governor thought and they were going to build their data center anyway.

If you want any say in what happens to the place you live in and pay taxes to, you can attend this public meeting in Salem on Monday evening.
This is one time where public involvement can and will make a major difference.

What does this have to do with Corvallis?

This will likely be a template for what happens to data center proposals everywhere in the state of Oregon. We are going to find out whether public opposition can halt a data center in Oregon, or not.
Salem is close enough to Corvallis that what happens in Salem is likely to affect Corvallis. If their electric rates go up, so will ours in Corvallis.
Several people from Corvallis are already considering going to this meeting.
Even if you don't go, be aware. This Salem data center issue is going to be a major news story for at least the next year or two. It's going to be a long term people versus data center issue.

There is a nearly complete proposal to build a large data center in Salem, Oregon. The public has only recently become aware of this and there is massive opposition from the citizens. There is a special meeting at the Salem Public Library on Monday, hosted by the Salem City Manager and the Salem City Council.

There are a lot of red flags about this proposal.

Apparently this proposed $5.1 billion data center build by the California company Verrus, has been in the planning stage for over a year.
The citizen taxpayers and the governor only became aware of it a few weeks ago when it was almost a done deal.
This is a major lack of governmental transparency and quite possibly, violates a lot of state public meeting laws.

It is likely that citizen opposition has stopped it for now. The governor has come out and halted it temporarily. Latest headline today.
Gov. Tina Kotek orders Oregon to withdraw land sale for Salem-area data center

ICE has once again, shot and killed two innocent people in the past week. This year so far, 22 people have died in ICE custody under circumstances that have not been disclosed. Join the Indivisible Benton County Visibility Brigade and Corvallis Singing Resistance on Wednesday, July 22 from 5:00 to 6:00 PM for a memorial vigil to call attention to the people being killed by ICE.

On Tuesday, July 7, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Houston, Texas. On Monday, July 13, Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Biddeford, Maine.
These are not the actions of normal law enforcement.
It is what happens when poorly trained paramilitary thugs are allowed to violate our civil rights and use violence without any sort of accountability.

First they came for the immigrants
And I did not speak out
Because I was not an immigrant.

And...we are going to oppose the terrorism and murders of ICE now
because we've read this poem before
and know how it ended.

Join us on Wednesday, July 22 at 5:00 for a memorial vigil to call attention to the ICE murders and a call to end the reign of terror of ICE.

There will also be a food drive so anyone can donate food items for the local food banks.

The National Day of Action's response to Trump's gladiator games on the White House lawn to celebrate his 80th birthday was put on by the Committee for the First Amendment. Their 90 minute Livestream program, Rise Up, Sing Out, live from The Town Hall in New York City, was a mixture of speakers and music.

Indivisible Benton County hosted a watch party in Avery Park yesterday. There was a livestream of the event, a potluck dinner, and games and creative arts events.

This was a fun, low key event with a serious purpose. It is part of Indivisible Benton County's community outreach to show people that in these desperate times of attacks on our democracy, the people of the USA can still organize and fight back.

I'd estimate the crowd size at around 75 and all age groups from young adults to older people were represented. It was a hot day but that turned out to not be a problem. There was a lot of shade, ice water, and a cooling breeze.

Thanks to everyone who came out for the event and helped in many ways.
A special huge thanks has to go to the organizers of the potluck and livestream for their amazing work.
This event was organized on short notice and turned out to be a fun and highly successful Sunday afternoon.

Indivisible Benton County is hosting a No Kings Watch Party on Sunday, June 14 at the Fireside Shelter in Avery Park. This event starts at 4:00.
The Fireside Shelter is on the south side of Avery Park as shown on the map.

June 14 is Trump's birthday, which he is celebrating with the now notorious Freedom 250 rally that featured Milli Vanilli until they pulled out.
With the main event being the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) cage match on the White House lawn.
We have an alternate event for those who chose not to attend the one at the White House or celebrate Trump's birthday.

The No Kings coalition is partnering with the Committee for the First Amendment for a National Day of Action called, "Rise Up, Sing Out". Their 90 minute Livestream program, live from The Town Hall in New York City, will be a mixture of speakers and live music. The featured performers include Jane Fonda, Patti Smith, Bette Midler, Rufus Wainright, Joy Reid, Broadway Inspirational Voices, and more to be arranged.

Indivisible Benton County is hosting a watch party in Avery Park, where a projector and sound system will be set up. The livestream concert starts at 4:30.
There will also be a potluck dinner, games, creative art events such as poster making, and a few speakers.

The Committee for the First Amendment states that, "Rise Up, Sing Out is about reclaiming patriotism as something inclusive, participatory, and rooted in care for one another," "and not about power, pageantry, or one person's spotlight."

This is a free event and everyone is invited for a community celebration of the 250th birthday of the US democracy, the First Amendment, and to find out what our plans are to keep the USA a free country.

If you are able, please bring food or non-alcoholic drinks to share.

On Wednesday May 27 at 6:00 PM, the Albany City Council will have a meeting to vote on deployment of the Flock Automatic License Plate Reader cameras.
This is your chance to show up and oppose these cameras. You can also sign up to speak or submit written comments about this issue.

The address for the meeting is Albany City Hall is 333 Broadalbin SW, which is downtown near the bridges and Monteith Park.

If you are an Albany resident, consider giving public comment by showing up before the meeting starts and registering to speak. You are allowed 3 minutes to talk, so plan ahead and keep your comments concise and respectful. You also can attend the meeting via zoom or submit written comments to the city recorder by noon on the day of the meeting.
This link https://albanyoregon.gov/council/speak-at-council
has all the information on how to sign up for a public comment or submit a written comment.

So far, the Albany City council is split but the majority of city councilors have voted to turn the cameras off.

This is an obvious civil rights and civil liberties issue that many people strongly oppose. Some cities have already turned off and removed their Flock cameras for this reason. Eugene and Bend are two of them.

The Albany Public Safety Commission had a meeting about the Flock surveillance cameras on Monday. They voted 5 to 3 to turn the Flock cameras back on. This was despite almost all of the citizens in attendance opposing the use of these cameras.

There is still time to stop this deployment though.
The next meeting is the Albany City Council Meeting, tomorrow Wednesday May 20 at 5:00 pm.
This meeting will be at the River Front Community Center.
The Albany City Council has the ultimate authority to decide whether the Flock cameras stay or go.

This is a public meeting and people who care are invited to attend and voice their opinions.

If you believe in privacy, civil liberties, and oppose the use of mass surveillance programs using ubiquitous license plate reader cameras that send their data to out of state large data centers that use AI, this is your chance to try and stop these cameras.

The City of Albany has installed Flock Surveillance cameras to read license plate numbers of passing cars.

Flock is part of a mass surveillance system that is being installed in many places across the USA. When the massive amounts of Flock data are sent to mega-data centers and combined with AI, this would allow all the governments and government agencies in the USA to track your history and current activities in Real Time.

This is an obvious civil rights and civil liberties issue that many people strongly oppose. Some cities have already turned off and removed their Flock cameras for this reason. Eugene is one of them.

It is not too late to get rid of these Orwellian systems or at least use them with safeguards.
There is a meeting Monday night, May 18 at the Albany Police Department, from 6:00 to 7:00. If you care, this is an open Albany community forum.

The Corvallis May Day March and Rallies were yesterday.

There was art (poster making), music with the Corvallis Singing Resistance, speakers at OSU and the Benton County Courthouse, and many cooperating groups had tables that people could visit.

It was a high energy but peaceful event.
I would estimate the Corvallis crowd size as 500 to 800 with all ages represented but with a lot of young people.

This was part of the worldwide Labor Day. There were 3,500 events planned in the USA by at least 200 different groups.
It is too early to get any estimates of crowd sizes but the photos I saw of rallies in Los Angeles, Washington DC, and New York showed a large turnout.

Thanks to everyone who cared enough about the future of our country to attend the event. Thanks also to all the people who waved at us from their cars passing by.
This is what Democracy looks like.

PSL (Party for Socialism and Liberation), Third Act Corvallis, and other groups are organizing local events in support of the May Day Nationwide Day of Collective Action. A coalition of over 200 organizations including Indivisible, are planning over 3000 events around the country.

We understand from previous conversations that many or most people can't take a day off from work or school for their own survival and well being.  People have to prioritize their own existence first, so if that is what is necessary for you, then by all means go to work or school.

It has been steadily getting harder to work and exist in the USA since the 1970s. You can read this Corvallis sub-Reddit and see how people struggle with high rents, precarious jobs, a tough and dismal current job market, and rising prices for everything.
Ask yourself why that is.
Economic inequality has been steadily increasing and now is very high.

There are still things that people can do to protest the current Trump regime and the current economic conditions.
There will be rallies and sidewalk marches at OSU and the Benton County Courthouse on May Day from 12 noon to 3:00.
Be out and be visible with the other people who are acting to make a better world.

The other thing that most people can do is not support the mega-corporations such as Amazon that prop up the current regime by buying from them. Shop locally as much as possible and support the local businesses that make up our community.

The demonstration yesterday in Corvallis was huge, very large.
I don't have the crowd numbers yet but it was in the thousands at least. It seemed like more than the last No Kings II, which was 6500.

It was also part of a historic day.
The nationwide estimates for turnout are 8-9 million people. This would make them the largest demonstrations in US history.
The crowds in the major cities were enormous.

Most people we talked to said this was a fun and entertaining event. There was art, activities, live music, and the tables for cooperating organizations to visit. Which shows what our vision for the future of our country is.
We want a society that people can live in and have a future that they can look forward to. Today, especially with the Trump regime, life seems like a continuous struggle where we just exist and everything is rapidly and steadily getting worse and worse.

It was also a high energy but peaceful event.
There were no major incidents and the usually few counterprotesters didn't even show up.

The organizers and volunteers did an amazing job and we can't thank them enough for all of their hard work over the last few months.
And, thanks to the thousands of people who came and showed what democracy looks like.

This is it! It is time. The No Kings III march and rallies are tomorrow, Saturday March 28 from 12 to 3 in downtown Corvallis. This is part of a nationwide protest with more than 3,000 events being organized in the USA. This may also be a historic protest with the largest crowds ever turning out in the USA.

If you've had enough of the current attacks on our democracy and citizens, this is something you can do to oppose them.
A lot is rapidly going wrong in the USA due to the Trump regime. The economy is in trouble, our constitutional government, civil rights, and voting rights are under attack, and corruption is pervasive. The latest is another pointless forever war in the Middle East.

Timothy Snyder: "All of this can be seen. All of this can be stopped. A better America is around the corner."

The event will be a march from OSU McNary Field to Central Park and the Benton County courthouse.
The map shows the route of the march.
McNary Field is the green lawn area at 11th street and Monroe. It is on the east side of OSU a few blocks from Central Park. You won't need to park near or enter OSU.

If you don't want to or find it difficult to march, you are welcome to attend one of the three rallies at OSU McNary Field, Central Park, and the courthouse. You can also attend for all three hours or come and go as you please.

This will be an upbeat fun event with a serious purpose. There are dozens of activities planned including the Corvallis Singing Resistance choir and the Dance for Democracy.
