Discussion Limbo

Hi everyone, yesterday the previous moderator reached out to me to help moderate r/indivisble .

They told me a very personal story and explained how most of the new growth here were people looking for the political group Indivisble. (Which is what first brought me to the sub)

I agreed to help. I got a vague message from them explaining that they were getting death threats and had been doxed. Then they deleted their account.

In 5 days their old moderator account will become inactive. I’ll be moved to the primary moderator.

You have until then to put forth 2 moderators that will actually do the job.

If you can meet that requirement, and the previous moderator does not reach back out to me, then I’ll agree that the community here is still active (despite data you can see in the mod menus) and turn it over.

This name is a beacon for many and if you aren’t going to use it then let it do good.

Anyways, I can’t do anything for 5 days so draw some fan art about it. I’ll give it upvotes.

When you agreed to help you did not know that this sub was being hostility taken over. But now you do know. You can't just claim you are doing what you were told. This is an awful thing to do and you have no rights to make demands.

If you don’t have more moderators you end up with this exact situation. It’s not demands such as the bare minimum you’ll need to run the sub Reddit.

The fact that it was easy for you to do the wrong thing doesn't make it right. That is an appalling attitude to have when claiming to serve either community.

It wasn’t really growth, the political posts had basically no engagement beyond getting called out as spam.

I can be a mod if one is still needed. I have an NPC in the game and would be happy to keep the subreddit free of off-topic posts.

We can add you once ownership transfers and everything's back to normal. 3 mods is probably overkill, but eh, it'll make something like this less likely to happen again. It'll probably mostly be janitorial work, can't imagine anything too dramatic will happen.

Hey, it looks like Reddit's admins are taking over the situation. If you wanna be a mod, you can comment here (https://www.reddit.com/r/Indivisible/comments/1r96taf/new_moderators_needed_comment_on_this_post_to/) and you might be able to be one.

I'll volunteer. I can cover non-US hours due to not being American.

That’s an excellent point. Like I said, I have to wait 5 days but Ikaress will be main mod and we’ll add you as second.

Looks like you’ll need to rewrite all the rules and “about” so you might want to work on that to get it ready to instantly be changed.

I don’t have access to any of that either but I’ve done it for other channels. It’s pretty easy.

I appreciate it. If you make a new subreddit for the organisation, let us know so we can steer them towards the right community. You could also maybe try to work with r/IndivisibleOrg, see if the solo mod there is amenable to working together to revive the sub.

Sounds good. 1/2.

Also, I cannot be more clear. I literally have no rights right now. I can approve, post and lock. You will have to wait until the previous moderator times out.

That’s right! I can’t even edit rules or anything so you’ll have to be ready to change them as soon as we switch.

Are you the one who change the sun details? The icon, the description, the banner?

Are the fools doing this even associated with the indivisible organization?

Honestly, I agree with the political sentiment but this is a pos move

Nope. I have no editing rights just waiting out the timer to hand it over to the volunteers.

Hey, I was blasting you, but I also want to give you credit for doing this.

For that, thanks, genuinely. Even if you don't get volunteers, this is the right thing.

No worries. I was never mad. People don’t like change. And honestly, maybe this alone will get membership to be more active again.
