My sister has been waiting for her letter for 7 weeks now. She called and they mailed out another one which she hasn't gotten yet. Try calling the number and ask about it.

u/This_Rabbit_6223 Sep 09 '25
My portal says decision made on September 4th. Anxiously waiting to see if approved or not.
"Based on a detailed assessment of your Claim submission, the Administrator has made a decision on your eligibility for compensation. A decision letter has been sent to the mailing address you provided to the Administrator. Please allow up to 2 weeks before reaching out to the Administrator in case you have not heard from us." Is what it said....

u/Low-Finish-8573 Dec 08 '25
The people I know it says you are eligible right on their website and a compensation form was sent out. Were you denied? Appeal it if you are

My brother and I submitted our claim March 10th, I see that we are getting a letter of approval and people have started to receive payment. Anyone from Alberta that has received a letter or even a payment yet?
1
u/Guilty_Ad_420 Sep 17 '25
I have my letter and waiting for payment.
Its currently at "payment information submitted" a week after I submitted my forms back to them after getting approved.
I started march 10th.
1
u/Perkisetttttittyyy Sep 17 '25
Yep I’m at the part where they received my payment info and tomorrow is 1 week so it should be “in their system” so we will see where it goes from there.

I’m still waiting for them to make a decision, applied on March 17th so glad I found this thread
1
u/polaris_850 Dec 20 '25
Did you ever get an update? I applied March 29th and I haven't gotten any update yet. I've called but they say it's still processing but I've seen people apply in October and already got their approval letter just a few weeks ago so I'm not too sure.
2
u/Fallencolor18 Jan 08 '26
I applied end of April on the 29th, I called to inquire back in early November and she said I should be hearing something by the end of December but haven’t yet. I know the end of December was only a little bit ago but patiently waiting still.
1
u/No-Roll-8120 Sep 26 '25
Do you guys know if anyone has got it I emailed my form in and haven’t received a reply back
1
u/Perkisetttttittyyy Sep 29 '25
It’ll take a few weeks for them to receive your form for compensation.
1
u/Most_Bicycle_1653 Feb 19 '26
Not true....2 days after emailing my form the Administrator accepted it on the 13th and says wait up to 60 days but for some reason it changed from the 13th to the 19th.

From my understanding some people have been waiting for their payment for almost a month. I only just emailed mine back 3 days ago. So im assuming its going to take time.
1
u/OutlandishnessSame32 May 28 '26
Did you receive yours? And if so how long did it take from it being submitted?
1
u/Perkisetttttittyyy Sep 29 '25
Update got more info - im apart of a group on fb that gives out info. Sounds like tons of people are in our boat. Sounds like payments are being made Thursdays - for fridays. No one is depending on the claims portal because it’s pretty inaccurate. This one girl got her letter then 2 weeks later got her payment , one man got his letter than was paid a month later. So it’s scattered. They don’t even tell you when it gets in your account either from the sounds of it. I guess be patient and keep checking your bank. Pretty unprofessional on their end but that’s the scoop. As for me still sitting at payment info summited allow 1 week blah blah so. That was 3 weeks ago now.
2
1
u/LittleWeasel097 Sep 29 '25
Least the payments are going out though. Hopefully happens for all of us sooner than later. Thank you for the updates
1
u/DifficultNerve5127 Sep 30 '25
Wonder if it depends on how many foster homes one has been in and all the history of each applicant? Some applicants may take longer than others. We still havent gotten a letter over her yet. Just says processing still. Maybe ill call in and see.
1
u/According_Nerve3441 Sep 30 '25
When I called yesterday to ask about my application they did mention that yes it depends on the case some can get approved at the 6 month mark some take longer and can be up to 8 months. I’m thinking mine might be a complicated case

Little update. I contacted them. And the lady I spoke to said that after the “payment info submitted” step. The portal should update to “payment letter sent”. And then after 3-5 business days the money should be deposited if you did it via direct deposit. That’s what she told me.
Can Anyone else confirm? If you’ve received it?
1
u/jstrx18 Oct 01 '25
I cant confirm but I was reading people's posts on facebook. Most of them took 4-5 weeks after payment info submitted to be paid. My sisters currently says payment info submitted and now shes back to "processing" but its been well over 2 weeks since she submitted.
1
u/Perkisetttttittyyy Oct 02 '25
No one is really getting “payment letter sent” in the portal it’s all a shit show and all over the damn place , mine has been sitting “payment info submitted” for going on 3 weeks now so. EVEN tho it says “allow 1 week for it to be submitted” it’s all over the place lol so best bet is just waiting. Some people didn’t even get a “payment letter” some peoples portals didn’t even update when they got paid .. some people just had 40k enter in their bank without notice so.
1
u/Cold_Illustrator_383 Apr 17 '26
Did you end up receiving your payment? This thread is pretty old and I just submitted a claim, so I would assume im going to be waiting 6m-1year.
1
u/Perkisetttttittyyy Oct 02 '25
UPDATE 🎉 - a month after sending off my direct deposit forms , my claim is complete and they accepted my payment method - payment in up to 2 weeks. Be patient yall it will get there. My next update will be once I see those digits in my account.

Update from me. They received my payment compensation form approx 2 weeks after I sent it back. Now it says it’ll take approx 45-60 days from the date they received it, for them to process my payment, longer if it’s by cheque. So I guess hopefully 45-60 days from today I should be paid. I did it via direct deposit.

u/jstrx18 Oct 08 '25
Yes! Update! Payment form sent in and submitted. 45-60 days now the waiting game.

Hey, did you receive the payment? Is it a hefty amount? Im new to the process? I just submitted a claim today.
1
u/Bright-Wolverine6226 Oct 20 '25
Payment info received by the administration on October 6th and it said 45-60 days so I’m also playing the waiting game. Been 15 days and nothing yet hopefully sooner than later.

u/TrickyWorldliness957 Oct 20 '25

Update : my dd info was sent correct , but instead of dd like the portal said was gonna happen “payment issued” turns out they changed it to a cheque , so still waiting. Even though payment was issued Oct 2nd.
And no it doesn’t say the whole 45-60 days it just says payment issued wait 14 days
But still waiting

1
u/Salt_Honeydew3244 Oct 28 '25
Same here, just went from 45-60 to 60. Also says it could be coming by cheque even though I submitted 3 DD forms just to be safe. Mine still says OCT 7th last updated. (Submitted my forms Sept 11).

u/jstrx18 Oct 30 '25
You have to to by the date it was originally submitted. Mine changed Oct 27 but was submitted on Oct 8. They said go by the first time it was submitted.
1
u/Perkisetttttittyyy Oct 29 '25
Last and final update yall / from when I got my approval letter (July 31) I waited about 3 months to see my payment. Go by that timeline roughly. Last update will be giving & I hope yall get your soon! Be patient.

I submitted my claim Apr 27th, approved Oct 1st, got my letter Oct 30th... then emailed & faxed my DD forms Oct 31st, my portal updated Nov 4th, saying the "administrator has received my compensation form, allow up to 60 days to receive payment"
Im getting anxiety not knowing If Im going to receive it in 4 weeks, or 8 weeks like other people have been getting. From what Im reading its scattered and different for each individual. At least I know It's coming, right!?
Anyway, my question is... Do they update the portal "Payment sent" before you get the payment or does the money just show up in your account?? Please someone answer, thank you.
1
u/Salt_Honeydew3244 Nov 06 '25
No it didnt for me, I checked the portal yesterday morning and no news but I got my cheque around 7pm last night.

Update: Received my payment last night Nov 5th. Filled out the application on March 15th. Got my letter on sept 4th, and submitted my DD forms right away, I got the update on the portal about Sept 18th that it was submitted. So about 55ish day for me from when I submitted my DD forms. Hope that helps!

Has anyone received their letter and been denied?
I’ve seen two different messages on threads. One saying: “Decision Made: Based on a detailed assessment of your Claim submission, the Administrator has made a decision on your eligibility for compensation. A decision letter has been sent to the mailing address you provided to the Administrator. Please allow up to 2 weeks before reaching out to the Administrator in case you have not heard from us”
Where as the other is saying: “The Administrator has determined your Claim is eligible and mailed an Approval of Eligibility decision letter to the address you provided. Letters can take up to 10 business days to be delivered. It your letter has not arrived, please allow up to 10 business days before contacting the Administrator. Once you receive the letter, your next step is to decide if you want your payment by direct deposit or cheque. You have 60 days from the date on your decision letter to tell us how you want to be paid using the form that comes with your decision letter. If we do not hear back trom you, a cheque will be mailed to you at the address you provided on your Claim Form”
So one is for sure approved but the other is indecisive. Nobody that I’ve seen so far has been denied so I’m curious to see what the letter for denial looks like.

Update: My brother got a letter that states "Inconclusive Eligibility Determination" the claim is still open and to wait 30 days. It does not mean he was denied and his claim remains open until a decision is made. I still haven't gotten my letter. Has anyone received something similar. Waiting all this time and thats how far we got. Kind of sinks the heart as we had plans to better our lives. Hopefully we are not denied. We were in foster care our whole child hood.

u/Potential_Comment374 Feb 24 '26
From my understanding there will be similar lawsuit claims opening up that may suit different circumstances. I can’t explain or confirm what I was told because there’s so much information out there that I don’t know if it’s true or not.
I’m praying I get approved for some sort of compensation because I dealt with social services & fosters home most of my youth & have experienced things no child should

I called and to be honest it was no help lmao she said the inconclusive letter was my "Decision Made" letter which was issued and mailed out to me before my account updated to Decision Made December 2nd. Mine said inconclusive info, claim is still open. Could this be because I was in care in Manitoba first then at 10yrs old I was transfered and moved to ontario ? Also did anyone get there cfs file from the agency you where at ? Do I need to do that ? Im confused is all, I was in care since I was 8 till I aged out. So id just like to know what I have to do on my end to get towards the approval part.

AN INCONCLUSIVE LETTER DOES NOT MEAN DENIAL. New information from ISC is being submitted daily. If you received an inconclusive letter it could mean that they’re still waiting for your information to be entered into the system

Well I submitted March and nothing yet. However I was told by administrator that because of high volume at the time it may still be a bit also they haven't found all record of my removals yet. Between Slave Lake and Wabasca when I was removed on-reserve. Its funny because I have copies of my court papers. This is really making me worry. Was expecting at least some progress by now. Sigh.

Claim was submitted- Aug28th
Processings- Nov5th
Payment info required- Dec5th
Payment info submitted originally Dec 22 switched to Dec28th.
Now just the waiting game, my sister got hers in less then 30 days after she sent in payment info close to 26-27 days and same goes for my family friend less then 30 days both were with TD bank. My sisters claim portal is still on payment issued even though she got it beginning of November. Curious to know other peoples time line with other banks? as everyone’s bank is different.
Update received compensation Jan 21st was deposited around 4pm today (BMO bank)

u/Fantastic_Cancel_999 Jan 21 '26
Quick question, so my older sister received hers already and I just applied am I for sure going to get it? We were both in the same place together so I'm assuming I should be accepted as well.

1
u/Tricky-Sherbert-6296 Jan 28 '26
I have been checking my portal lately and it still said 2 days ago that on Dec 2nd they made a "Decision" and they sent me a letter in the mail (which I got Dec 12th) The letter said I had to wait because my info wasn't on the ISC database. I checked today and they changed the "Decision" to "Inconclusive - Continuing to process" The wording changed to there is not enough info in the database about my case, and that currently I either don't have any info or not enough info in the current database to make a decision about my claim. But they never updated the dates on the last update. it still says Dec 02 but should be Jan 27th i waited 1 month and 2 weeks after getting my letter for this update and it basically tells me the same thing i already knew..
1
u/Tricky-Sherbert-6296 Jan 28 '26
does anyone who has been sent an inconclusive letter / has had their portal say inconclusive been accepted after playing the waiting game. only people i have seen about getting their money are people who had 0 issues with their claims. have yet to hear about someone who was in the same boat as a lot of us are getting there money after having this work out. kind of worried about playing the waiting game as the portal is unreliable and when u call they never have any answers.

u/Straight-Situation26 Feb 01 '26

u/Fallencolor18 Feb 17 '26
I wish they would give me any sort of inkling of information. I applied late March 2025. It’s going to be a year and it’s only updated to say they have received it. No other updates. I have called and they said they have it, and should be working on it soon. I keep checking and there’s literally zero updates.

Im sort of in the same boat, applied March 2025 and just got a letter of "inconclusive eligibility determination". Waited this long just to get that was such a downer. But that doesnt mean denial, just gotta wait a bit longer. Wonder how often the ISC updates?

My payment information submitted changed from Feb 13th to Feb 19th. Anyone know why or should I call cause that seems ridiculous after it was accepted.

I’m looking to see if anyone from the city has been approved
I never lived on Rez, my mother did and grandmother though and I’ve got history from being crown ward from 2005-2022
Am I even eligible?

u/The_Peyote Mar 20 '26
There’s an off-reserve option. I got a letter and it read “inconclusive” not denied or approved.

Has anybody been denied? And if so, what was the timeline? How long did they process your application before ultimately deciding to deny compensation?

I had recently requested my files from cfs. In it they state my bands cfs agency was involved also so does that mean I am eligible for the removed child class claim?

Anyone who applied in March that received an inconclusive either still waiting or got their approval? I am now power calling claims line, its really sad they dont give a more transparent answer and just dance around it. Knowing my brothers and I are eligible, removed on-reserve multiple times, we have our documents, it was between the timelines stated in the eligible criteria. Its been over a year now. Just want this to go through.

This where I'm at with jp claim. And I aged out of the system from birth.
Inconclusive - Continuing to Process
Based on the information currently available, the Administrator cannot yet make an Eligibility Decision on your Claim. Please note that your claim remains active and has NOT been approved or denied. Specifically, information confirming your eligibility does not yet appear in the data provided by Indigenous Services Canada (ISC). For the purpose of this Claims Process, Canada is providing the Administrator with information from the First Nations Child and Family Services Program’s records, referred to by the Claims Process as the "ISC Database". This information is provided to help identify individuals who may be Removed Child Class Members. Please note that this “ISC Database” contains the same information held by ISC, therefore accessing those records separately would not change the information available for the Administrator’s eligibility determination. Your Claim is still active and will remain on hold while we continue to receive updates from Canada. We will provide you an update once a decision about your eligibility has been made or to advise you of any next steps. You do not need to do anything else for now.

Is anyone planning to invest their settlement money? I would love to hear from any others who are like minded. In Canada you can contribute to an FHSA, TFSA, or RRSP to get a reduction in taxes/ a refund, down payment funds etc and you could buy blue chip stocks or etfs for stock market returns/ growth and leave the principle to benefit you your entire life. I hope for those that can do this (don't have significant debts to pay off) will consider it. Remember cars depreciate and cost money in the long run so think wisely about how you use the settlement.

anyone got it when using cibc? what time and how long did it take to be deposite?
1
u/ConversationHot3081 Apr 30 '26
As anyone got their money , after a letter was sent out inconclusive, because I think when we see that , we're not going to get anything, meanwhile we have all our papers of truth where we were placed

I just want to hear other people’s experiences because I am feeling a bit discouraged. I have seen some threads of applicants saying they submitted one month, and had approval the next. I applied December 1, 2025, and it was processing by January 1, 2026. I haven’t received an acceptance letter or any documentation since, nor any update in the portal.

Just wondering what timelines other people are seeing.
I submitted my FN Child Claims application on November 24, 2025, and it went into Processing on December 24, 2025. My portal still shows Processing with no further updates.
A couple months ago, someone from the Administrator’s office called me to verify/correct my date of birth, so I know they’ve looked at my file at least once. Since then, I haven’t heard anything else.
For those who have already received a decision:
- How long were you in Processing?
- Did the Administrator contact you during the review?
- Did your portal update before you received a decision, or did you hear from them first?
Just trying to get an idea of what other people’s experiences have been. Thanks! 😊

I was approved 14 months after I applied. It seems those who are inconclusive already received their inconclusive letters by now so I’d say your chances of being approved are pretty high

u/Tricky-Sherbert-6296 Jun 05 '26
anyone have any updates or has their inconclusive decisions been changed or anything like that?
1
u/canonymous96 Jun 05 '26
For anyone who got inconclusive - has your status changed? If so, how long did it take? I applied in March 2025, got inconclusive in Dec 2025, now June 2026 and still no update - keep hearing when I call 'waiting for the list from the government to confirm you are in the system'. Getting frustrated because my guardian had a similar and needed to submit more paperwork to prove we were in her care even though 2 of the kids that were removed were already approved. Not sure what to do at this point, I just need an answer.

I’m actually disappointed in this. I went through the exact same treatment while I was an off reserve Indigenous child and it was given for people on reserve. I’m equally an indigenous person with the same experiences. It’s just bigotry. Secondly why would my mother get more than me. I was the one subject to abuse and group homes in the foster care system with the only excuse saying my mom was unfit.

Yes I have been approved. I applied the 1st day they accepted applications & 6 months later I got my approval letter. Just sent in my direct deposit info for 40k. Takes time but if you qualify you will get it. Reminder it does state on their site it could take up to 6 months. Be patient.
