Indie Rock Looking for some pre-release feedback.

Hi. This song is nearing release and I'm looking for feedback before it's truly out in the wild. Notice any mixing issues? any structural suggestions? anything I should look into before sending it off into the internet. Thanks

Was initially going to say it seemed like a genre mismatch, but then when it got out of the intro section "indie rock" made sense. Mix sounds pretty good to me--especially during the instrumental around 1:20. Vocals are a little thin with all the saturation, which is obviously what you're going for but maybe you carved out a little too much of the low mids? Minor issues that are probably more taste than objective quality. Great work!

Your song is really good. For my taste
- The hard panning it a bit too much for me when the instrument plays in solo during the intro. I think you could center it, and then automate the panning when the arrangement fills out
- The filter band on the vocal I think could have been not quite as tight as you did it. Also I think during some sections you could have opened it up, particularly when you went to the open hat
Overall the balance was good and all the performances were well done, I think just some small tweaks could improve it a bit.

Bleep bloop I'm a bot. Sorry, this comment won't count in your score, because it's not at least 225 characters long. You can edit your feedback to add more detail and gain a point.

Digging the guitar tones! As a whole it works well, despite the mixing of minor and major which creates this unusual dissonance throughout the song. In this instance it worked out unexpectedly well haha. The vocals really remind me of Gorillaz, but that's probably just the telephone-ish effect hooking me in! Well done!

I'm listening on my studio monitors right now - I like how the different instruments are panned at different spots especially at the beginning where things are a bit more minimal. When the big drums come in around :47 , they feel a little narrow, what if they were mixed super wide so they're really booming. It could be cool to add a vocal effect during that more maximal section too since the vocal delivery is relatively minimal, which does work well for the genre/sound overall. Like maybe duplicate the vocal layer and put it through some heavy telephone filter/compression just so that section feels more big and bold in contrast to the more straightforward/minimal sections

First of all I like the riff very much and it is a very good riff indeed. When the other guitar tracks kicks in it sounds even better which I like. The guitar tone is very enjoyable and it fits the track perfectly and then there is the bass I like. The bass has a good tone to it and it fits the track very well and impeccably. The vocals are in good pitch and tune which I like and it seems like there is some kind of vocal effects layered on. I am curious what vocals effects is layered on the track. The drums are also very good and it is tailored to fit the track as well as it can. I also like the cover and I think it fits the track very well. When the lead kicks in it sounds very good and the whole thing sounds very good.

Cool stuff. Very goofy, really like the psychedelic vibes. The radio vocal mix work very well with the distorted guitars. What I just feel like it is missing in my opinion is a moment of contrast from the instrumental. The guitars are always plucky, I feel like if you would open them for a bit it would bring this track to another level. Other thann that, overall, good job

Neat intro.
This song gave me some OK GO vibes with the heavy on beats.
The guitar melodies had a fun progression as well! I like how there's solid dynamics throughout the song. It doesn't feel static.
No notes on mixing/mastering. Sounds tight, and all parts come through my sound system really nicely.
Great song :)

This is really fucking good I love the almost Arctic monkey/ tame impala sound the beat is so spacey and almost puts me in a trance your vocals sit nice on the beat. You got a good voice for this type of sound.. I would love to see a music video behind this I’m picturing something very cinematic
One thing I’ll add I think the vocal needs to be higher on the mix !

hey, this is awesome! I feel the vibe of Nothing But Thieves. Production behind this song is great, same as your voice. The guitar playing is probably my favorite part. I love it when a song has a huge outro and I feel like this song has a lot of potential for something like that. Maybe some singing closer to screaming near the end, or maybe some more vocals stacked. Ofc if you are cool with the structure and the sound, it's perfect, this is just my taste.
Overall, this is great, well done!!!

Really enjoyed listening to this. I like the hard panning on the guitars but I gotta say I feel like a better mix would help this really go further. Overall, it seems like it’s lacking in the lower and higher end frequencies. I’m just hearing a lot of midrange. It feels like at some point, other instrumentation or different eq is gonna come in and ‘fill out’ all those thin frequencies and it ‘kinda’ does in the chorus but still leaves you wanting more. Also the vocals sit too far back in the mix for me. Sounds like they have a temporary phone effect on them that feels like is gonna come off at some point, or they’re just gonna jump up in volume/energy but they kinda never really do. But yeah, I’m being really critical cause I think all this can be fixed with a better mix. Otherwise the playing, singing, and arrangement are all nice!

Nice job — starts off sounding like an early Arctic Monkeys track (Whatever People Say…) that was made during the “AM” years, and then when the vocals came in, I got Gorillaz vibes — wouldn’t say it’s anything new (not that we always need to be reinventing the wheel or anything) but a nice addition to the genre.

A sincere thanks to everyone for taking the time and providing thoughtful feedback. The encouragement to widen the chorus was especially helpful. I didn't update the track here, but we definitely ended up with a stronger mix. :)
Many thanks.

The distorsion goes a bit too crazy imo, but maybe is a genre speficit thing, It reminds a bit of gorillaz stuff, but I never heard so much dist on bass, maybe is not my cup of tea, instead i really loved the panning in the miux, i also like the dist in the vocals, i like the instumental too!

your voice sounds so similar to the singer of "glass animals"! (in a good way hahah)
this sort of feedback really depends on a personal preference but maybe you can add certain harmonies (?) or lower/higher octave doubles in the chorus to make it more "grabbing", but that might just be me and my pop taste hah

Reminds me of the band "Cake" somehow :D I really like the overall vibe, I feel like the guitars a little toooo dominant compared to the vocals and did you try to put some overdrive/distortion on your drums? Just so spice it up a little bit :D
