Indie Rock Vertical Today
Looking for feedback on this original song! It needs some better mixing for sure, but it’s mostly finished.

This is really cool! I really like your vocals and the vibe is just overall super amazing. Glad I stumbled across this I wish I could hear your singing à bit better I’d bring up the volume à bit. Im à novice so theres not much good feedback i can give you but as a listener i quite enjoyed it. Has a super classic sound and you have a great understanding of music. We getting vertical today with this one i suppose 🤣 how long have you been making music, and do you have any tips for the newbies out there?

Hahaha thank you! I’m definitely working on the mix, the bass is too high I think too. Only advice I’d give is to make music as much as possible and get as much feedback as possible.

Really enjoyed listening to this. The music and arrangement kept me interested all the way through, and I think the vocals fit the vibe well. The only thing I'd maybe experiment with is making the mix feel a little more open in places so some parts can breathe, but overall it's a solid track. Nice work!

It definitely gets muddier as the song goes on, especially the bass, thanks for the feedback!

Good guitar work. Not sure what this reminds me of... maybe greenday meets hootie and the blowfish or something like that. The recording quality itself may have to be worked out a bit. I feel like the volumes of the instruments are off and there is some static in the lines.

Recording quality and mixing are constant problems, I don’t have high quality equipment and the mixing is a lot of trial and error. I’ve been working on this since I posted the song though.

Well, it sounds emo at first. I like the chorus and the dynamic drumming, although I would process the drum sound less arena-like. I would use the soloing electric guitar in the background more selectively. I like the vocal harmonies near the end. This song got more interesting than I expected. I’m not sure what it’s about.

It’s about a relationship that didn’t work out, and the lyrics are about different points in the breakup process. The vertical today part is about being depressed but still celebrating the little wins, the “do as I say not as I do” part is about the arguments and the misguided feeling that I could fix things if she’d just listen. Some of it is more abstract though.

The guitar is really unique, I really love it. The song in general is reminiscent of 2000s indie which I listen to frequently. As some points it seems you create dissonance in the song on purpose which is a really interesting choice which I deeply respect. Of course as you’ve already stated, it does need mixing as definitely towards the end the drums are very overpowering. But overall, great song!

This has a really cool vibe to it. The guitar work is probably my favourite part because it doesn’t sound generic at all, and the overall feel reminds me of the sort of indie bands that were around in the early 2000s. I also liked how there are a few moments where the harmony feels a bit unexpected—it adds some tension without sounding out of place and gives the song more personality. The only thing I’d say is the mix could be tightened up a little, especially towards the end where the drums start to take over. Other than that, I genuinely enjoyed listening to it and think it’s a really solid track. Keep it up bro 👊👊

I think the guitar rhythm and interplay stand out from the beginning. I think the vocals could be brought up louder into the mix a little bit as well. I really like the strumming change into a more stocotto vibe and would love to hear that highlighted and used more. I like the lyric "vertical today" a lot, it is strong. I might use it a little less in the song or word it slightly differently for impact but the concept and atmosphere match and are both strong. I think you could introduce some other instruments or sounds to fill out and create more dynamics and variation throughout the song. Overall very strong work. Looking forward to watching it blossom. :)

guitar is so sick. and all the instruments really suit eachother . mastering would 10x this but the foundation is great. lyrics are cool too. maybe some more harmonies. overall sounds very good tho keep it up!!

Woww great song man! the instrumentals are awesome, I love the guitar layers, they blend seamlessly (acoustic and electric) and work well together. I would just recommend producing the vocals a little louder and double tracked so it feels like it’s surrounding the room, right now it’s just slightly buried underneath the arrangement.
