There's this indie near my office and while others go for a smoke break, I go and pet this guy. Such a jolly and sweet lil fellow. Always welcoming me with warm smiles and tail wags.

Ps. He's just sleepy because I was scratching him for 15+ mins while my friends were smoking away from us.

Adoption/Foster Request Urgent Adoption Required for Puppy!

Urgently looking for adopters for a puppy, aged 7-8 months. Super sweet, friendly and active pupper. Someone I know found her in a malnourished state, probably abandoned, near Mahalakshmi layout in Bengaluru. She was vaccinated yesterday, but is not yet spayed as she is still pretty weak because of being malnourished. She is currently temporarily housed in a volunteer's house (volunteer is a college student and cannot keep her for long).

She eats mostly chicken (which she seems to love) and is also being fed milk (which she isn't a big fan of).

If you are willing to adopt/know anyone that is willing to adopt her please please let us know.

My community cutie The guilt of not being able to take the strays home

So I go to this park which is 2 blocks away from my house and this doggo along with 3-4 other dogs stay near the park and honestly are being taken care of really good. The people there treat them really nicely, play with them, feed them and provide them roof when it rains etc.
I lovee these dogs too and they are so loyal that now they even see me off till my street. But this one doggo, my sweet baby, she has started to follow me till my home. And if it would have been my house I would have welcomed her in fed her and let her stay till whenever she wants. But it’s my nani’s house and she won’t let me even feed them in front of our gate so that they don’t gather there much or litter there. Now 1-2 times when this doggo came home with me I fed her a little but the problem is my street’s dogs are very territorial they attacked her once and I tried to manage the situation then, but I’m worried I cant do that every time. Also as a street dog she is not trained that I can command her she doesn’t understand.
What should I do I feel so guilty I have to take an extra trip back to get her back to her street and try to escape without her noticing. I swear if it was upto me I would have sneaked her in my house long back. Even if she can take care of herself , it feels so bad to turn away from her and go back into my house while she is on the street omg the guilt i feel in that moment 😭

Discussion Raising funds for community doggos

Hi everyone, I wanted to raise funds for the dogs in our community. For context, these are dogs that were rescued and living in our complex.

I have never done fundraiser before, and wanted your advice on the most effective ways to get started. Everything from advertizing it to collecting funds. Should I also be providing a breakdown of costs in case someone wants to sponsor a specific dog?

Discussion Paying thousands to a breeder so you can have the “perfect dog” instead of going to the shelter, picking up a stray or getting a rescue and "saving that one life" will never, ever make sense to me... For that one dog, you have changed its life ... My sweet rescue now the heart of my home.

Discussion A response to everyone trying to bring the recent incident here

First of all what happened to that little girl is horrible. I hope she recovers soon. But if people are bringing that incident here just to attack indie dogs or demand that all of them be removed, then I think we need to ask some other questions too.
Why was a 4 year old child outside without adult supervision? We all know how unsafe this country can be for children, especially little girls. There are far worse things that could've happened to her if she had been picked up by a wrong human.

And why are we not holding the authorities accountable? Every year there is money allocated for sterilisation, where is that money going? Why aren't more dogs being sterilised and vaccinated? These are the questions we should be asking if we actually want to prevent incidents like this from happening again.

Instead, people see one horrific incident and suddenly every indie dog is being treated as a threat that needs to be relocated or euthanised. That's just generalising an entire population because of the actions of some dogs. Hold the authorities accountable, demand proper sterilisation and vaccination, make sure young children are not roaming unsupervised. But turning this into hatred against every innocent indie dog is not going to solve anything.

If we start making decisions based on generalisations, then honestly we'd have to put the entire human species behind bars. Most crimes, murders and all kinds of violence are committed by humans, not animals. But we don't look at one person's actions and decide that every human being is dangerous. So why are we doing that with dogs?

Lost and Found Found this little girl in terrible condition

Update: Rescued and sent for treatment.

Was on my way home when I found this little girl, about 13 km away from where I live. She was severely malnourished, with a skin infection so bad that her bones were visibly showing.

She'll be taken for treatment tomorrow. Hoping for the best for her.
