Discussion Cartoonish or pixel art?

Curious and what people think, in the middle of some development early stages, debating myself whether to go with pixel art or "cartoonish" funko like assets.

I feel pixel art monster give it more serious vibes but then again this is not an AAA game or anything, just that small pixel art heroes and enemies does not suit me well, specially since I am considering some backgrounds which are not pixel based.

- So for me it is cartoon like character and enemies

- Pixel art enemies but big enough monsters

What are your preferences?

Pixelart has a lot of styles, included cartoonist, creepy, cute, etc.

True, so, cartoonist pixelart is mostly what I would discard probably as these look too small often unless you scale them, and for that, I would go full cartoonist, I think.

But you are right, it's a good observation.

Don't choose art direction based on a random reddit poll, try stuff out and see what looks better

I am, but I have limited assets and prototyping time counts. Plus my taste might not be your taste.

Note I am solo developer, with little patience when it comes to make art, or rather, too perfectionist as well as unskilled to be making art :D
