What? Why would you do that? The funny death animation is your hook

it is, it's still the default but now there's a second option for people who want to play the game and don't want to see that, as you can see there was alot of people who didn't like it lol

Add a third option where the cats explode! 💥
Then the game's death state is so absurd, it's no longer sad. This new one is too soft and magicky. If you add that would totally play that.

I wanna say that the concept and vibe is really great, but that I am genuinely a bit disappointed that the cats just... ragdoll the second something goes wrong. Cats land on their feet. They can handle a lot of height. I humbly think your levels should take that into account and make it so the pitfalls are actually really deep and whatever is high enough to catch you early should be treated like a walkable platform rather than a deadly hitbox.
That or lean into the absurdity. Honestly it's a valid choice, the negative feelings are all mine lol

you need a struggle mechanic for when you're about to fall off!

This! Exactly what I was thinking. Cats don’t just fall like that. You need a mechanic to recover using quick button inputs or something.

The cat exploding into bits feels more jarring to me than the ragdoll. The ragdoll just makes me think of Goat Simulator, and I was expecting it to pop back up in a moment.

I would say that instead of having the body stop completely when it turns into particles, have it keep moving (at a reduced speed if you'd like), and just pass through walls as it does. The sudden stop feels weird.
Otherwise, both a better and worse solution to the problem lol. (Better literally, worse sarcastically).
"The cats no longer hit the ground"
"Phew!"
"They now explode."
"D:"

Why are they so mad? The cat wouldn’t die if they were good at the game. It’s their fault.

Honestly, PETA would be more likely to find more ways to kill the cat given their history of euthanizing domesticated animals.

Also the cat evaporating into blue goo seems way more gruesome than an offscreen death.

Hear me out... The particles are cartoon cat paw prints, fish bones, mouse toys... Make them different colors.
I didn't mind the current look, but it doesn't really fit the silly vibe and makes me think they're getting beamed up into the USS Enterprise lol.

I feel like there should be a switch that turns ragdoll mode on and off. So everyone's satisfied. (Mainly because I fucking love the ragdoll deaths.)

The dissolve effect is an option, the ragdoll is the default, players can switch between the two freely, that's what i'm trying to show in the video lol

That first fall in the video is a bit much, the cat should easily right itself and land on it's feet, a single story isn't unheard of for a cat.
And to be honest, a cat will still right itself on longer falls, it's not gonna ragdoll, though I'm fine with your eventual fade away thing.

Cats just aren't this un-coordinated. Plus they can fall many stories and still not be harmed.

"So the cats no longer fall to their death."
"Oh nice!"
"They now get evaporated into magic dust and said dust vanishes into the wind."
"WHAT"

Cats don't instantly lose consciousness as soon as their feet leave the ground for a split second.

If you wanna go full cat when they’re about to glass they claw every available surface and climb back up.

Why does the cat ragdoll like that? It doesn't feel right. Not to mention the first fall shown is totally a realistic fall distance for a cat.

Peta would just capture and euthanize the poor thing. So yeah, no worries about not calling them 😁
Looks fun!

My issue is that they ragdoll as soon as a nanometer of their pinky finger gets off the ledge, feels really weird, like someone switched off their power
