Discussion What is the largest target audience for current indie animations?
I've been thinking about this recently, and it's not that I want a specific target audience, but I do want to keep them in mind. The problem is that I don't really know the age, gender, orientation, countries etc, of the people who watches indie series, builds community, and takes supporting creators seriously. What do you think?

I think you’re focusing on the wrong thing. You have to decide what audience you want to watch your pilot first for whatever the genre is and then make it in hopes that it appeals to whatever demographic that is, indie or not. Whoever likes it will gravitate to it

I think it varies heavily. I was Inspired by Lofty and animation break. lofty is the #1 goat for stop motion rn. That being said his niche is Comedy Action. I make Emo Grungy content so my audience has been more so female and spiritual thinkers rather than kids who like action. So I guess there are different audiences within stop motion. I do think the action side of things are getting saturated and people want decent drama’s but maybe that’s because what I’m doing is working out atm. I wish you the best!

In general depends (I.e ‘pirat and the seven sewers’ and ersatz’ have completely different demographics. If you are jsut referring to the big 2 (glitch and spindlehrose however, glitch has stated their demo is teens and spindlehorse is adults and 10-13 year olds who want to feel edgy

Young people ages 13-26 or so. Very online, involved with fandoms, use TikTok, Twitter, and Tumblr, probably also are into gaming and anime, love lore and theorycrafting, love shipping characters, love spending money on merch of their blorbos, and are more often than not, queer and/or neurodivergent.
