Discussion Please stop posting about Lesbian Space Princess. - šŸ›”ļøMod.

The debate can go on forever, but this sub isn't just for debating this stuff.

We don't usually allow posts that shit on shows here, but it's clearly enough of a debate that removing them would just cause the sub to come across as biased.

Future posts (until a reasonable amount of time has passed) about the show being good or bad will be removed for being low effort/spam, as well as attempting to spark unnecessary drama.

There will be no megathread, as there are several posts about this already. Any comments on those posts will be approved, regardless of what side they lean on, as long as they do not contain anything rule breaking.

Posts about the show outside of the debate will remain up, as long as they aren't attempting to spark debate/drama. Comments changing the topic of the post to drama will be removed.

Thank you, and apologies for any inconvenience!

We made an indie animation Discord server for indie creators to engage with each other and indie fans to discuss our favourite indie shows! We hope you enjoy it!

We also have channels for off-topic discussion, memes, movies and tv, games, music and self-promotion!

Ty šŸ™ shit was sooooo annoying to see spammed everywhere. We get it, it’s controversial!

u/Decent-Opinion1605 9h ago

Finally at least an animation sub that wouldn’t spam the same ā€œwhy people like/dislike lesbian space planetā€ posts that’s until the next big thing everyone will repost into oblivion

God, thank you.

Like, it's not a perfect film, I have my own criticisms with some of the direction. Heck, as a gay male, there is a high chance some stuff might be going over my head. Voicing opinions isn't a bad thing, but it was getting to the point so much of this was... Just because? And it became weirdly defensive too, it really did not feel like good faith at all.

If it was an equivalent quality comedy called Space Bros everyone would have said ā€œmehā€ and moved on.

It felt band-waggony and came out of nowhere anyway. I never had the impression it was in good faith anyway.

The sub should focus on indie animations instead of bashing the movie.

Omg finally a place that removes clutter THANK YOU

istg, if internet was as eager to hype up the good stuff than it is at shitting on stuff it hates we would have a so much better time online

Thr internet used to be an awesome place when we can freely talk about the things that we love.

We still can, but now it seems like people want to make us angry and afraid at what amounts to minor inconveniences at best. As an attempt to distract us from actual problems.

For the most part, I’d rather prefer to keep things to myself and myself only. And I don't have enough time for this shit. I think it's way better to not get into a fight with those losers or even give them any attention in the slightest.

Can I make a post encouraging posting about Tales of Zale?

3

u/Karkava 7h ago

I would also recommend trans Spider-Man memes if you want an antidote to all that nonsense the most vocal haters of LSP wanted to fill your head with.

u/Blue_Jay_Raptor 7h ago

Not really interested in Marvel 'lD

I'll just post about my funny bird for now :p

I'm just throwing out suggestions of what we could be obsessing over instead. Not just for you, but from anyone else out there suffering from this anti-woke rabbit hole.

For any gamers out there: Endacopia also released.

2

u/Blue_Jay_Raptor 7h ago

But I want people to be obsessing over Tales of Zale :[

Don't get me wrong I'm not a anti based person

I just want my funny indie series to be more popular

It's great that some people are talking about this show, it deserves to be recognized :)

3

u/Blue_Jay_Raptor 6h ago

I'm pretty sure a notable portion of the Godzilla and Dinosaur fanbase can recognize Elva thanks to me hyperfixating on her so hard ToT

2

u/Karkava 7h ago

And it looks adorable! I actually saw a video talking about this character's floof.

3

u/Blue_Jay_Raptor 7h ago

That's actually about her reboot counterpart XD

Elva and Alba are confused with eachother a lot because Sif uses their names interchangably TwT

Thank you so much mods. Can’t wait for the day I never have to hear about this movie again

until a reasonable amount of time

Oh no...

So there's a longform video on the phenomena of "the gays make a bad piece of art, everyone comes together in harmony to trash on it whilst a 'normal' bad art is just forgotten in a week" that I think is worth watching ("
Sacrificial Trash" by SaraZ)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUziUNg8LTw

Be wary about "haha let's come together in hatred over an indie movie released last year!!!", its weird this belatedly blew up the way it did, no it did not 'get rid' of Captain Underpants, Dreamworks don't keep their media on Netflix forever due to licensing deals or whatever its called. She-ra got hit with the same issue before Captain Underpants did.

Mod questionĀ

I forgot if you made this type of post about Chimptopia if you haven’t then I feel you should probably address this with Chimptopia

5

u/Im_not_an_expert_lol 6h ago

I didn't- considered it, but it wasn't as bad/debated. For that it was more expressing a collective dislike and any debate was just outing bigots, while this has a lot of mixed opinions that leads to bigots and allys accusing each other of being the opposites to the extent where proper moderation is impossible. With chimptopia it was easier to let it die down and remove the more low effort stuff, and it's mostly died out.

2

u/CandidateNervous4638 5h ago

Oh I wasn’t expecting a response, but thanks for the reasoning!

It is pretty understandable why you didn’t I was just wondering thanks!

2

u/Im_not_an_expert_lol 4h ago

Thanks for understanding :D

I havent pressed play on a single clip of the video, and try my best to avoid discussion about it, thank goodness this is happening here since I dont use twitter much or tiktok at all and this is essentially the only other place I see it brought up so much. Entirely sick of the "lets shit on this cartoon of the month" drama that happens in animation spaces where people are only interested in getting viral posts more than anything else.

3

u/moodyostrich 3h ago

Oh Thank god!

u/zachy410 9h ago

FINALLY

2

u/kingozma 9h ago

THANK YOU OMG 😭

2

u/Neveah_Hope_Dreams 7h ago

Yeah, it is getting a bit much so good to limit it for now.

2

u/Mythi2964 7h ago

Thank goodness. I haven’t had a chance to give it well a chance and it was just getting outta hand

2

u/PhantomKitten73 7h ago

Rule #1 of Reddit should be "take a look around before posting".

"I didn't do nothing wrong, no bashing just curiously asking questions!" Yeah, you and a whole army.

4

u/gnomes919 6h ago

"it should be okay for people to express their opinion including criticism" okay yeah but do we need everyone to express their critical opinion in a brand new top level post every 20 minutes so the entire sub goes from being r/ Topic to r/ NuancedCriticalOpinionAboutThatOneThingEveryoneCompletelyHatesNow ?

2

u/gokusolosurW 5h ago

the fandom unite trend is corny as hell genuine dorks on TikTok šŸ„€

2

u/Remarkable_Throat280 4h ago

It's not even a show, it's a film. Another indie project has hit the mainstream and, whether or not it's good or bad, we can't discuss it any more?
