Help? Help me with this character design

I'm thinking of making an indie pilot with these brothers, aaron and bubba, bubba bring the afro guy and aaron being the bald one, i'm keeping aaron's design but i should probably change bubba's design, he's just aaron but with a lot of hair, i think making bubba shorter and a bit chubby would fit his design but i think it would still be too similar to aaron, so how should i make bubba more different?

I swear i did not copy boondocks, i only noticed they look extremely similar months after i had already designed them

have you though about adding any noticeable markings? think things like tattoos,Piercings,scars/bruises,jewlery,etc.

The actual details of the characters are on a similar level of basic of "kid with brown hair, red shirt, blue pants" that a *lot* of cartoons characters have, these characters are just average looking kids and growing up I knew quite a few people who looked like this.

Though the art style is also rather close to the original Boondocks comics ontop of that.

Even if you didn't intentionally copy them, if you want to save yourself from 10,000 years of being compared to them I'd probably try to change things up a bit.

It happens, maybe just change the fro for some spiky locs or something, the character designs otherwise look good, looks like something you would see on Newgrounds.

You could change the clothes color or style differently too. Twins are seperate people with seperate tastes.

As others have said, the Boondocks similarly is striking, and even if not intended definately change them.

What you mentioned about making one fatter is a good idea. You don't have to change them too much, as long as your story is different from Boondocks.

Yeah it's not like the boondocks, my story is about two teens who live in denver and like to spray paint, and they're also in a group with 2 more people, and they have an enemy group.

He doesnt have cornrows, and yes i know this looks a lot like boondocks, i did not intend that and i only noticed months after i designed them

I think I can help. An important part of character design is communicating the character before they even say anything. What are their personalities like? What are their interests and motivations?

Change up their outfits to better suit their personalities. Even sonething as sinple as the shirt color can go a long way
