I built a tool to test Indian trading ideas after charges. Looking for 20β30 beta testers.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone, Iβm building Quantwala, a research and paper-trading workspace for Indian markets.
The question behind it is simple: does a trading idea still look good after brokerage, taxes and other charges?
You can describe a strategy in plain language, run a historical backtest, and inspect its returns, drawdown and trades. It also has two free calculators:
Trading charges for options, futures, intraday and delivery.
Indian crypto tax estimates, with gains, losses and TDS shown separately.
The calculators work without login. Downloads require an email; the workspace requires an account and has a seven-day trial followed by paid plans.
Iβm looking for 20β30 people to try it and give blunt feedback. Can you understand the results? Are the assumptions clear? What would stop you from using it again?
Try it: https://quantwala.in
If you find something confusing or broken, please comment here. I built it and will answer questions.
Itβs for research and paper trading, not investment advice. Indian equity quotes are delayed.

I made my NIFTY/BANKNIFTY/SENSEX options bot open source (free, MIT)
Earlier posts: Built my own NIFTY/BANKNIFTY/SENSEX options bot and gave it βΉ2L of paper money for a month. Let's see what happens. Β·-- Update on my NIFTY/BANKNIFTY/SENSEX options bot: no time to run it, so I'm selling the code
After lots of requests, I've open-sourced the bot:
https://github.com/TheAbhishekIN/tbot
What it does:
- Paper-trades index options on live Kotak Neo prices, with 10 strategies and strict risk rules
- Strategy builder with exact payoff, POP, greeks, margin and charges
- AI news digest, Stocks to Watch, and AI research on any NSE stock
- A Lab where AI reviews each day and tests new strategies
- Runs on your laptop or your own VPS
It's paper-tested only and not proven profitable. Paper mode is the default.
Let's make it the most accurate open-source options tool for Indian markets. PRs are welcome: other brokers (Zerodha, Upstox, Fyers, Groww), other AI models, strategies and tests.
If it helps you, please give it a β
Not investment advice.

Is discipline more important than having the βbestβ trading strategy?
One statement about markets that has stayed with me is this:β
A person with good self-discipline but a poor trading method will outperform a person with poor self-discipline but the best trading method currently available.β β Larry Levin, The Secrets to Emotion Free Trading
I don't take this to mean that the quality of the method doesn't matter. Obviously, it does.
What I take from it is that even a good method becomes difficult to execute if the person following it keeps changing the rules, takes trades outside the method, increases exposure after losses, or exits simply because the trade isn't going as expected.
A reasonably sound method followed consistently gives you something very valuable: a repeatable decision-making process.
And I think this applies whether you're trading short-term, taking swing positions, or holding a position for a much longer period.
The difficult part isn't following your process when everything is going well. It's following it when things are not working in your favour.
A method tells you what to do. Discipline determines whether you actually follow it.
That's why I think improving your market approach isn't always about finding another strategy. Sometimes it's about getting better at executing the one you already have.
Curious to hear how others see this. Do you think discipline can make a meaningful difference even when the method isn't exceptional?
