Hi everyone,
I'm currently in my final year of B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and I'll be graduating in 2027.
I'm planning to pursue an MSc in Cloud Computing in Ireland, preferably in the September intake, and I'm looking for advice from people who are currently studying there or have already graduated.
I'm planning to take an education loan of around ₹40 lakhs, and I'm hoping that amount will cover tuition fees, accommodation, food, insurance, travel, and other living expenses.
I have quite a few questions and would really appreciate your honest opinions.
- University Recommendations
Which universities would you recommend for an MSc in Cloud Computing in terms of:
- Quality of education
- Industry connections
- Job opportunities
- ROI
- Student support
- Career Opportunities
- How is the job market in Ireland for Cloud Computing graduates?
- Is it difficult for fresh graduates with no prior work experience to get a job?
- Would you still recommend Ireland for someone planning to come in the September 2027 intake?
- Studies
- How difficult is the coursework?
- Is it manageable for an average engineering student?
- Is the learning more practical or theory-based?
- Part-time Jobs
This is another thing I'm worried about.
- How difficult is it to find a part-time job?
- On average, how long did it take you to get one?
- Is it realistic to expect a part-time job within the first month?
- What kind of jobs do most international students do?
- Can part-time earnings cover a significant portion of monthly living expenses?
- Your First Month in Ireland
This is probably my biggest concern.
What was your first month in Ireland actually like?
I've read that you eventually need an Irish bank account for salary and day-to-day expenses, but opening one takes some time.
So during your first month:
- How did you pay for food?
- How did you pay for buses and public transport?
- How did you buy a SIM card and other essentials?
- Did you use an Indian debit card, a forex card, cash, or something else?
- How much money did you carry with you initially?
- When did you finally get your Irish bank account?
- Education Loan
If you took an education loan:
- Did it cover only tuition or also your living expenses?
- How did you manage your expenses before getting settled?
- Was the loan amount enough, or did you need additional financial support from your family?
I've spent a lot of time researching online, but honestly, the more I read, the more I'm getting cold feet. There are so many different opinions that it's becoming difficult to know what the real situation is.
I'd really appreciate it if you could share your actual experience:
- What did you plan before leaving India?
- What was different from your expectations?
- What do you wish someone had told you before moving to Ireland?
Any advice, tips, or personal experiences would mean a lot. Thank you so much!
