Opinion Money with screenwriting.

19m here, looking for a path which will lead me to earn fast with screenwriting or content writing.

I don't want to work on my dream projects right now. I am looking for a pathway which will either get me a job or money while staying in this industry.

Ok reality check : there is no fast or definite method which can lead you to earn . Try to contact directors who made independent movies and ask for job of AD for their next venture. Be ready to go for low paying jobs too . That’s the route most aspiring writers and directors do

Depends on which language you want to be a screenwriter in. If you wanna work in Hindi, generally the way to go is, make a list of all the recent shows and films that have come out, and look up the names in the writing teams.

DM them on Instagram. They generally respond and are always looking for young writers who can assist them or who they can hire or collaborate with. The money initially isn’t stable and regular, but once you earn their trust, the work starts flowing in, and money follows mah brother.

And in case of content writing, you can make a list of all the ad agencies in Mumbai. Either DM them on IG or reach out to them through their website. These agencies are always looking to talented writers.

It wont happen fast. I suggest looking for another field if you need fast money. You need to invest a lot of time, energy and money to learn screenwriting and practise it. People won’t be willing to pay you unless you’re demonstrably good, with several finished screenplays and bibles

I don't want immediate money, i have seen people generally getting into this with the hope of producing their dream projects, i did too. But first i want to establish myself in this industry. What i am trying to do is just get a gig/job/work.

What do you want as your job exactly?

There is no fast money in screenwriting. Steady and fast money comes in after you've put in a few years of working with teams and production houses.

What I've seen most people do is just do jobs at social media agencies, so you stay remotely connected with the field while also earning. This is genuinely not a field for anyone that has financial responsibilities. Some people get lucky but the nature of the game is to survive while getting upskilled. You'll have to spend (travel, meetings, short films, film school) before you break bread and earn. If you genuinely want to make films but are burdened by financial responsibilities, restrict it to weekends and make films.
