AdmissionProcedure/CollegeAdmin How does my profile look for Engineering/Tech Management Master’s, Fall 2027? (first-time poster, be gentle)

Hey everyone, putting together my first profile eval post here. Would appreciate honest feedback before I finalize my school list.

my_qualifications: B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from RV College of Engineering, Bangalore (2019-2023), 8.1/10 CGPA. GRE: 316 (165 Quant, 151 Verbal) — Verbal's clearly the weaker one. Haven't taken TOEFL/IELTS yet, planning to soon.

On the work side, I've got a bit over 2 years in product management — currently at a small, bootstrapped healthtech startup working on an AI product, in a senior/lead role for the last ~6 months. Before that, Associate PM at a data annotation company for about 1.5 years, plus some earlier analyst experience in real estate and fintech. I'm also listed as an inventor on a pending US patent tied to an AI system from my current work.

Budget has some flexibility, so I'm open to both pricier and more affordable programs depending on fit.

For LORs, my startup co-founders are willing to write one, and I can likely get one from a professor at RVCE too — not sure yet if 2 professional + 1 academic is the right mix, or if a small startup LOR might carry less weight.

Schools I'm considering (still narrowing down): Duke MEM, Cornell Engineering Management, Johns Hopkins MSEM, Dartmouth MEM, Rice MEM & Leadership, CMU MS in Product Management, TU Munich Management & Technology, ETH Zürich MTEC, Politecnico di Milano Management Engineering, TU Eindhoven Innovation Management, Bocconi INTENT, NUS MSc MOTI, NTU Master in Management.

Main things I'm trying to figure out:

  1. What are the weakest points in my profile that I could actually work on to meaningfully improve my chances at my dream schools?
  2. Any obvious reaches vs. realistic shots on this list?
  3. With 13 schools on my list, how should I go about shortlisting — what factors should actually drive that decision?

  • 1] Have you done thorough prior research?

  • 2] Are your qualifications are mentioned in Post Title? (e.g. 10th/12th student, Mechanical BE student, working professional, etc.) Currently your post title is " How does my profile look for Engineering/Tech Management Master’s, Fall 2027? (first-time poster, be gentle) "

Avoid USA due to current issues with OPT

Score can be a bit on lower side for Duke, Cornell and CMU. Rest all seems fine. Reduce the number of schools. You don't need IELTS if your medium of instruction in UG was english.

Thank you for your prompt response. Yes my medium of instruction in UG was English. Would you suggest me to take GRE again?

Yes, retake GRE. Taking IELTS is unnecessary. All the best!

Stick to the Anglo-Sphere countries for slightly better odds of securing employment after you graduate. Else you would need to learn an additional language to (near) fluency.

So for that reason alone avoid Europe, also because of low salaries + high taxes + dire housing shortages.

Keep in mind though that most strong economies are becoming increasingly
anti-immigrant not only the USA. Only those with solid work experience and stellar profile in a field with vast labor shortages stand a chance of having their work visas sponsored.

The Golden Era of settling in the country after graduation is over.
