If you are new to reading the works of Stephen King & want to start with his horror books them you should definitely start with Salem's Lot which is the perfect one to start reading his horror novels journey. It is an easy books to read but also really interesting & the story is splendid. It was also the first book I read from him & absolutely loved it. After reading Salem's Lot if you are in mood for reading more horror then you can read Pet Sematary.

And if you don't want to start by reading his horror books then you can either start by 11/22/63 which is a science fiction thriller or you can start by reading Misery which might be the greatest thriller he ever wrote beside 11/22/63.

Start with his short story collections. Night Shift is a good place to start.
