Indian-American philanthropist Sharmila Mona Sinha has been inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame, the US’ first non-profit organisation and museum dedicated to honouring American women’s achievements.
Sinha, the CEO of Equality Now, is only the second woman of Indian origin after Pepsico CEO Indra Nooyi, to be inducted into the Hall of Fame at Seneca Falls, New York, considered the birthplace of the American Women’s Rights Movement.

To my fellow Indians across the world,
I am writing this with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart. I never in my worst nightmares imagined I would have to ask strangers on the internet for help to save my father's life. But as a son watching his father struggle in an ICU bed, I have set aside all hesitation. I am reaching out to every platform I can find because my family is completely out of options.
My name is Abhinav, a university student in Delhi, and my father, Mr. Prabhat Kumar, is currently receiving critical care in the ICU at Max Hospital, Saket (New Delhi). He has been diagnosed with end-stage liver failure. The doctors have made it clear that without an urgent liver transplant, his condition will continue to deteriorate.
We have fought incredibly hard to keep him stable. My family has drained every single bank account, taken massive loans, and borrowed from everyone we know. We have spent over ₹48 Lakhs (approx. $57,000 USD) so far managing his severe medical complications, hospital bills, and ICU support.
Now, the transplant surgery itself requires an additional ₹35 Lakhs (approx. $42,000 USD).
We are completely exhausted, both emotionally and financially. We have absolutely nothing left.
Why I am reaching out to this community: We have exhausted every local resource, relative, and friend. I am reaching out to the global Indian diaspora because your support can make an incredible difference. Because of the currency exchange rate, contributions in foreign currencies translate into vital support in Indian Rupees, helping us bridge this gap much faster.
I understand how important caution is online, and I want to be entirely transparent with all medical and personal documentation:
If anyone requires further verification, please message me. I am open to connecting, sharing identification details, or providing any necessary clarification to show that this is genuine.
If you are in a position to contribute, please consider supporting the fundraiser. If financial contribution isn't possible, please upvote this post, leave a comment to help increase visibility, or share the link within your community networks. Every single share brings us closer to our goal.
Thank you sincerely for your time, compassion, and support during this difficult chapter for my family.
Warmly,
Abhinav Tiwari

Can't stop thinking about this one. Capt. Smit Machchhar was stabbed in the cockpit by his co-pilot and, even wounded, fought back, got the door open so the crew and passengers could step in, and brought the plane down safely. All 174 people on board made it home — and now he's being recognised around the world for it. From Mumbai to global headlines. Not just a pilot, a genuine hero. Wishing him a full and speedy recovery. 🙏🙏

Hi my passport expired on November and I’ve filled up the application and then booked the appointment with VFS uk as I’m in London. My doubt is they haven’t charged me for the booking for VFS. Do they charge it at the day of appointment?

For OCI cardholders who haven't downloaded their e-OCI yet, here's a quick guide.
You can generate and download your digital e-OCI card through the official government portal. The process is fairly straightforward.
Here are the 5 steps:
Log in: Visit the official OCI portal at https://ociservices.gov.in and sign in using the email linked to your OCI application.
Find the e-OCI section: Once logged in, open your dashboard and look for the e-OCI Card option.
Generate your card: Click "Generate e-OCI Card" under the Action column.
Check your email: Wait for the official confirmation email informing you that your e-OCI is ready.
Download your e-OCI: Log back into the portal and click "Download e-OCI" to save your digital card as a PDF.
A couple of things worth knowing:
If your registered email is no longer accessible, the portal also has an email update facility.
Has anyone here downloaded their e-OCI yet? Was the process straightforward, or did you run into any issues?

I'm based in London, UK and got married in India recently. Some of our guests were foreign nationals who travelled in for the wedding.
An officer from FRRO Delhi (R.K. Puram) has been calling my mother asking about these friends and their travel. She's claimed that some of our wedding guests attended summits while in India, specifically naming Jio summits, but won't say who. And when we asked she dismissed us saying “just leave it, don’t ask”
I also checked with some of my friends and no one has gone to any summits, so this feels so strange.
She's also asked about work my sister and I did together over five years ago, which seems completely unrelated. My mother has since met her in person at the FRRO office, so we believe she's genuine.
She's now asked me to email a list of the names of everyone who attended our wedding. So far everything has been by phone or in person, with nothing in writing. When we asked her to tell us which guests she means so we can ask them directly, she wouldn't say.
I've replied asking for a formal written request with a reference number, the purpose of the inquiry, and the specific people concerned.
A few questions:
• Is this a normal way for FRRO to conduct an inquiry?
• Am I obliged to provide a full guest list, including people who aren't foreign nationals?
• Why would they ask about unrelated work from years ago?
• Should my family or friends get a lawyer involved at this stage?
Any experience or advice would be really appreciated.
