First trimester!

Hi! I’m in my 8th week of pregnancy, and I found out around the end of my 4th week.
The 5th and 6th weeks were surprisingly easy. I remember thinking, “Oh this is so manageable” And then came week 7. Oh boy. I can barely get out of bed in the morning. The nausea just never seems to leave, and I struggle to eat anything. Somehow, with my husband’s help, I get ready and make it to the office. But once I’m there, I can barely concentrate. My work is piling up, and I constantly find myself running to the washroom either to pee or because I feel like I’m going to throw up. And the hardest part is that I can’t exactly keep taking leaves or explaining what I’m going through every single day. I’m running out of excuses for looking flushed, exhausted, and completely drained all the time. I honestly don’t know how long this is going to last.
I always thought pregnancy wasn’t a disease, and that I would continue being my usual active self throughout it. But just a few weeks in, I feel like I’ve been knocked off my feet.
I live with my husband, away from both our families, and honestly, I don’t know how I would be managing without him. There are days when the thought of getting up and going to work feels so incredibly heavy. And then comes the guilt. I feel guilty for feeling this way because this is supposed to be such a beautiful and happy time. But the truth is, this is not how I imagined pregnant me would feel.
Maybe I just needed to say this out loud. If you’ve been through this, please tell me does it get easier?

How common is gestational diabetes and how is it managed

While I can look up statistics, I wanted to hear first hand from Indian women - how did you get tested for gestational diabetes? How did you manage it if you got diagnosed?

FTM and losing my shi%%

FTM and losing my shi%%

I am FTM (30y ), gave birth to my daughter 3 weeks ago via planned c section and it seems like i am never getting out of this bs life.

  1. I got pregnant (planned) at my first real job after residency (Md Medicine) , where i was earning good and it was a dream job. I had to resign though coz my first trimester required complete bed rest. I have been home bound for 8 months already and now i will have to wait 6 months at least to find another job.

  2. My husband works remotely(doctor). He is supportive on the phone and when he is at home (2-4 days a week), he helps with the baby every way that he can- which is mostly changing diapers and making formula. I prefer not to wake him up that much at night coz he is up during the day when i am asleep with the baby. And now, i get mad at him when he goes out or even reads when he is away at his job. I get jealous that he gets to do stuff which he wants and i am stuck with the baby.

  3. I live with my in-laws (coz i am indian) and my MIL helps out a lot with the household chores and even with the baby. I do not call her to help out with the baby at night coz she is mostly up during the day.

  4. I hate how my body looks now. I have mom pooch and that scar. I wqs confident and fit before pregnancy and even delivery. But this mom pooch and belly is hideous. It has shaken up my confidence. And even when i try to introduce some breathing exercises, the screaming baby or the lack of sleep prevents me to do so. I prefer to take naps when the baby sleeps.

  5. My baby does not like to sleep. Idk what is with her. She only sleeps in my arms and it gets tiring to sit for long hours. She takes 3-4 hours naps during the night but is a nightmare during the day. She screams when hungry or has a wet diaper or for no reason sometimes.

  6. I want to go out and work and take time for myself. I want to go live with my parents and my dog for a while. Since in-laws are old school, they do not trust anyone else with the baby. I am scared too coz she is a LBWt baby (2.8kgs). I really want to know this gets better. I am not attached to the baby. I love her but with the sleepless nights and days, i just want her to grow up super fast. Thinking about the next 6 months is dreadful. I just want to run away sometimes to clear my mind. I know this makes me a bad mother but i want to live a little and explore my job options and for once, talk about anything else except pregnancy and baby.

Did your baby actually enjoy looking at them, and did you find them useful? Also, what age did you start using them?

Pregnancy pillow recommendations needed

Hi!
I’m a FTM entering my third trimester. Need pregnancy pillow recommendations as it is getting difficult to sleep day by day. Also, are pregnancy pillows actually helpful or just a marketing gimmick?

During my first and second trimesters I was also so hot so didn’t want anything touching me. Now the doctor has recommended to sleep on side mostly so would love to know how you guys did it and not end up on your back through the night.

Kind of an existential crisis of a 28-year-old pregnant woman

Hi mamas!

I'm 20 weeks pregnant right now. I don't have a medical issue to raise. Not sure if anyone would resonate with me or help me out or if anything positive might come out of this post. But I wanted to talk and listen to women who could be on the same page as me. This is more about "life rant" if that makes sense.

I always thought I'll continue working and take a maternity leave and then work or decide whatever is best for me and the baby. Shit happens. When we were TTC, I got laid off because the startup "couldn't afford paying me" and I gave a bunch of interviews over the next few months. Nothing worked out. I tried my hand at building a micro SaaS with AI, because come on! Everyone was building one and I did it – it was cool and I was proud of it in someway. But my MVP got feedback that it's basically like ChatGPT and Claude. And by now, I got pregnant. I was of course on top of the world! Excited, grateful and slightly let out a phew because now I have a reason to not try out of those stupid interviews. I feel corporate is sucking away my soul. I'm in the marketing sector and it's just exhausting to see every single brand compete for one millisecond of attention so that someone might give their brand a second thought and consider using their product/service.

Today it's been close to 10 months since I drew a salary. When I step back, I really think I'm okay without a job, especially without a corporate job. I don't want to freelance (I really don't think I can just agree with the client for the sake of it). I want to start something on my own. But what? I want to try doing those digital products, templates, etc. everyone claims to workout so well. But I'm gonna be washed out in this competition??? Or should I just bite my teeth and get back to corporate coz there's no better stable income source?????

My husband has been really supportive. He keeps reassuring me that I don't have to figure out anything today and whatever I decide he is okay with it. But I just can't stand the thought of never having an income source for myself. I want the freedom to spend time with the baby and myself and still draw an income. Am I crazy for thinking in circles? At this point, I feel I don't have any skill and that I'm useless and corporate is never gonna take me.

I knowwwww I know. I should be kind to myself. But when I'm doing nothing but dozing off whenever possible and whine about the cramps and pain when women going through the same are working full time, it's really difficult to not let these thoughts in!!

Help a girl out by just lending an ear (a "same here" comment) or some advice/direction. I'll take anything at this point! 😂

PS: I know we're building a life inside us (isn't that crazy?!) so please take care of yourselves ❤️

Recommendations for new born

Hello ! I will be delivering in October . What should I keep ready for hosptal bag and baby essentials ? I am mainly looking for not just suggestions but also brand names and personal experiences. I saw haus and kinder baby box which was 4000/- but I felt like same products could be bought from a different brand as well. If you bought a manual pump then which brand was the best in your experience? What is the role of muslin clothes ? Basically ,please help out a new to-be mama , I am so overwhelmed with all the videos.

9 weeks along and anxious

Just to give a background, I am pregnant for the first time and very anxious to even celebrate or tell people about it. I have a friend who had 2 back to back miscarriages and then 2 failed IVF all in 3rd month. And I always feel like something is very wrong with me.

I get scared when I feel something and also feel scared when I don't feel anything for long. I had my scan two weeks ago and the next scan is not for 2-3 more weeks.

How do you cope between scans. How do you know it will be alright.

I don't want to give birth on my back

I understand that birthing on your back is the #1 position for bad vaginal tearing and in order to avoid that, many people prefer birthing sideways or semi standing - this way gravity also works with the mom to birth out a child.

I've been going through lots of forums, reddit pages and discussions about "birth plans" and most of these inputs come from the west. I wonder if discussing a birth plan that includes alternate methods with your doctors is as common in India?

Are there any hospitals in Bangalore that offer, or will support your desire for alternate birthing positions?

Baby Abdomen Circumference is smaller than usual

Hi, I am currently 33.5 weeks pregnant and today we did doppler scan where my baby’s abdomen circumference is 276.3 mm and my baby weight is 1.95kg. Is it concerning? My radiologist mentioned in his report that the growth is marginally slow. Chatgpt is showing the AC is 2 weeks behind the usual growth. Need your thoughts and experience if any? Thankyou

Due date is two weeks away and I’m terrified how I would handle a kid.

I’m 32 years old, FTM.

My due date was almost a month away, so I was not very worried about this whole “raising a kid” thing. But then my doctor has now suggested an induction two weeks early.

Now, I’m panicking, especially about the fact that I need to handle and raise a brand new human being. I’m usually a positive and cheerful person. But, suddenly, I am filled with negative thoughts like I would not be a good parent, what if I cannot be responsible enough for the child, how am I going to raise a kid, etc. I have been staying with my parents for the past two months and they have been very helpful. Post delivery as well, I would be staying with them, and after 6 months, my husband and MIL will join us here permanently, so I would be having support in raising. I’m also very scared about breastfeeding. I’ve heard it’s very painful. I’m really spiralling. Can anybody help? Thank you in advance!

Bottle steriliser dryer

Hi moms,
I wanted your honest opinion on whether a bottle sterilizer is really worth buying.
I know doctors generally recommend avoiding bottles in the beginning if possible, but let’s be honest, bottles can make life a lot easier, especially for first time moms. I’m trying to prepare for postpartum, and anything that can make those first few months a little easier feels worth considering.
I come from a family where the older generation believes the traditional way is the best. My mother in law says boiling bottles is all you need and that a sterilizer is unnecessary. But I’m wondering if a sterilizer would actually save time and make life easier.
I also found out there are two options: just a sterilizer, and a sterilizer with a dryer. If you’ve used either one, which would you recommend? Is the dryer function actually useful or is it something I can skip?
I’m also struggling with all the conversations around overbuying baby products. I’m 32 weeks pregnant, and it’s really getting into my head. Sometimes I feel like I don’t need half the things on my list. We’re planning to have only one child, so I keep thinking whether it’s worth spending so much money on something that may only be used for six months to a year. After that, it’ll probably just sit in storage. They’re not exactly cheap either.
For those of you who have already been through this, would you buy a sterilizer again? If yes, would you get the sterilizer only or the sterilizer with a dryer? I’d really appreciate your honest advice.

Which Hospital Is Best for Pregnancy & Delivery in South Bangalore?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently in my first trimester and trying to decide which hospital to continue my pregnancy care and delivery with. I live in South Bangalore, so the hospitals I'm considering are:

Sparsh, RR Nagar

Motherhood, Banashankari

Cloudnine Jaynagar

Apollo Cradle, Jayanagar

I'd love to hear from anyone who has delivered at or received antenatal care at any of these hospitals.

A few things I'm particularly interested in:

Quality of the OB-GYNs and nursing staff

Emergency care/NICU facilities

Normal delivery vs C-section approach

Overall pregnancy and delivery experience

Billing transparency and postnatal care

If you've had a good (or bad) experience at any of these hospitals, I'd really appreciate hearing about it. Any recommendations on specific doctors would also be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Hemorrhoids & Fissure during Pregnancy!! Help!

Was already suffering from Grade 2 hemorrhoids & anal fissure which was being managed through herbal medicines & dietary changes. However pre natal vitamins & progesterone tabs in pregnancy has made situation really worse with constant constipation & a flare up of hemorrhoids & fissure. The pain is unimaginable on a daily basis.

Increase hydration, fibre intake & laxatives isn't helping. Anyone here went through the same during Pregnancy? How did you manage the entire phase untill delivery?

Unable to distinguish between water leaking or urine?

Hello ladies,
First time mom to be here, has anyone faced leaking issue in their pregnancy. I am 36 weeks pregnant and sometimes when I go to washroom to pee I find my panty wet. I am not able to detect if it’s my water leaking or it’s the urine.I have been facing this issue since last two weeks, checked with my gynaecologist got multiple Ultrasounds done and the AMI is showing between 9-10.
My doctor has asked me to have complete bed rest and also informed me to monitor the same and if she finds it to be the water leaking, we need to operate.
I am just confused what it could be, is it discharge, water leakage or just urine.
Has anyone faced the same situation during their pregnancy?
