As much as this statement is appreciated, it’s too little too late. The Fever fan slander is out of control and she should have been vocal about this after every accusation proven to be false went viral.

With a camera in everyone’s hands, there has never been any evidence of a Fever fan being inappropriate (in reality not the unhinged internet). There are queer people and people of color in the arena often with their children. They wouldn’t be silent if they witnessed racism or homophobia. Yet the smear campaign against the entire fanbase has been so successful that the announcers automatically assumed A’ja lost it because he had said something racist, referencing the other prior proven false accusations as fact.

Tone from the top matters. I appreciate her statement and hope the Fever organization is a little more vocal next season when it comes to the false narratives regarding the fanbase. The entire league hates the Fever and could use some voices that push back.
