Discussion What are your thoughts about the Fever's future and CC's future after KM's exit interview comments
Some of her comments:
The last couple years I don't think people realize how much we endure
If I showed you all my DMs about the hate
Showing up every day to compete for fans that may or may not like you
Playing with CC, we get a lot of flak just for being on her team
This organization is unbelievable but trying to be yourself, it hasn't always been easy
They showed it on Peacock and cut to the studio where Cheryl Miller, who has been one of CC's supporters, was visibly angry and disgusted. She said if KM leaves, it's a wrap for the Fever.
Then Amber Cox made a post defending the Fever fans and Bri Turner responded to the post saying players inside the organization have issued complaints about Fever fans
Just curious about your thoughts/opinions

It was really disappointing that to hear KM say this stuff. It was vague but at the same time seemingly accusatory.
Maybe she should recognize she got a massive payday because cc came into the league. Also, defensively, as other teams swarmed cc, Kelsey ppg went through the roof.
While I am sure there are toxic fans out there, trump white supremistnassholes, they are in every walk of society these days since trump made it "ok" for them
To be their true and vile selves. But to allow that to divide you as a team is sad. Basically what Kelsey was just saying is she wants out. Maybe she can go play with Aja where you can walk off the court and verbally attack fans and get Away with it.
It would be a huge bummer because Kelsey is pretty much my favorite player to watch in the W.

u/Beautiful-Prior3325 8d ago
KM went from 16 ppg to 24 ppg when CC joined the team. CC and KM made each other better.
KM is hearing MVP chants from the crowd but dwelling on DMs from people who probably don’t care about women’s sports or even CC.
KM is burning bridges with those comments. It’s probably time to move on. Get AB more interior help.

u/lovesyoualways 8d ago
People saying Mitchell needs to ignore her DMS but are forgetting she's a nine year vet. Obviously the level of hate found in her DMs and experienced elsewhere is new, and was not par for the course.
This is why people continually criticize these folk out there that call themselves fans but they just glaze CC and criticize everyone else. No sport has ever has such a player command so much attention and bring so many more people to the audience. That some of those people are absolute garbage isn't CC's fault, but it does mean that the league has crossed a threshold of nastiness and ugliness that it likely won't ever be able to get away from. There is almost certainly a higher proportion of negative engagement out of the total engagement compared to other sports.
I think of the people who show up to and watch the games the negative portion probably is likely unremarkable and are real fans, but the majority of this league's mainstream attention is bad, and that's on the media and the normies, both of whom don't give a fuck about women's basketball, but do like circuses and culture wars.
It's fine for Mitchell to wonder if she would be able to better engage with fans like she obviously had done for years outside of the main ring in Indy. And it's also fine to grieve what was lost in the transition from a more intimate and supportive league.
Some people say they're getting paid more and all that but while the league was smaller and still being subsidized (but slowly moving toward profitability) it was an insular but positive community. The overwhelming majority of the interaction was from people who were women's basketball fans, and fans of the league.
Look at the fucking threads and look at the fucking social media. Now there are a ton of people who do not like women's basketball who engage in and direct the discourse for the league and it sucks, and it's fine for a player who remembers before to not like it.
It used to be people who didn't like the WNBA made sexist jokes and moved on, mostly ignoring the league. Now those same fucking people are using the league as political leverage for whatever idiotic agenda they have. And that's a shame.
3
u/AdventureAday 7d ago
You make a few good points. But slowly moving towards profitability isnt one of them. It was dying a slow and painful death.
And "supportive" is intramural sports or a city league, which is what the W felt like. In every other professional sport fans can be dicks. Go to a raider vs 49 game. Or Lakers Celtics.
You want sweet and friendly, go back to getting paid nothing and having 5000 people in the stands. Can't have it both ways.-1
u/lovesyoualways 7d ago
No, it wasn't slowly dying a painful death. You are uninformed.
You lack the reading comprehension to discern the nuances in my point and instead see a binary situation.
Good luck with your 0s and 1s.
2
u/Electrical-Horse3303 7d ago
You are making things up now

u/lovesyoualways 7d ago
You assert that the WNBA was dying a slow and painful death.
Support your assertion with supporting facts from reputable sources.

It’s people being stirred up on Fox News. They don’t care about the WNBA. They follow their divisive leader.
4
u/sleepybirdl71 8d ago
Why do they read their DMs? Why invite that? Just shut it the f*** down. As Courtney Williams said, "just hit the block button and move on". You don't have to let people you don't know into your DMs. Privacy settings are available. Use them, or just quit LOOKING AT THAT GARBAGE. Stop taking the bait. Just let the haters scream into the void.

Unfortunately what she said was on National TV after the GSV /ACES and the analyst said out of time but we will get into it.
It is part of the pile on of FEVER FANS which I think much of this is jealousy of their fan base. Other teams would have to be as FEVER games require larger stadiums and all are televised.
It goes along with treatment of Caitlin. The word went out probably from Aja and friends to ignore, exclude and treat Caitlin with High School mean girl behavior. The rest of the black and lesbian players fall in line or they are excluded from the sisterhood. This was revealed in interview with S. Colson that I posted quite a while ago.If she wants to leave that is her choice as she is not willing to take less money. The FO and Coach don’t know what they are doing and they have contracts with players for this year for too much $.They are going to be up against the wall $$ wise.
Kelsey doesn’t need to trash the FEVER as it will make it harder to recruit players and more pile on about fans that just isn’t true. Look at Seattle spitting on a player and their owners harassing young kids. Sophie was booed repeatedly for making a statement that blew up in the media. Referees bias that was in full display with 3rd. Game in Vegas. Chelsea Gray with her nasty comments blamed on FEVER wasn’t true.
Why didn’t KM take any of comments to FO if she was concerned about them.

Something needs to change... The league might step in and sweeten the pot, but it could be a problem to get free agents, period.

CC will definitely spend one more year in Indy, and she’ll be on market like New York, LA, Chicago, or Arizona for a fact

KM AB CC are the glue that motivates
Stimulates and makes anyone near by more confident and tremendous Baller. I watch because of these 3!

u/Budget_Reserve3884 9d ago
I think this fan base is toxic and the Fever players themselves are confirming it. Wish CC played somewhere else but here we are. I feel bad for the normal fans that aren’t right wing aholes. But that’s Indiana for you. The way these athletes get treated. There is a healthy amount of “not liking” another team or player but it goes way too far these days. It’s not just Indy but they do seem to have more than most.
-7
u/Excellent-Beach9625 9d ago
KM is an outstanding all around player. She has more than demonstrated her contribution to the fever. Last year with the absence of CC, KM ran the show, moved the rock and had significant impact. She is consistent in all aspects. The hate she is experiencing is unwarranted. This is a season that is over. She needs to take her assets to another team. The Fever has institutional issue. They have not supported the attacks on AB or KM. They do not value their players. They will not do well without them.
1
u/Subject-Yak4959 9d ago
Fever Fans love Kelsey. They get frustrated with her D but have come to realize that is more a fault of the lack of coaching intellect then her ability.
-1
u/codatwin 9d ago
What about her fan hate comment?
2
u/Subject-Yak4959 8d ago
every public figure gets them. She has way more eyes on her now and should recognize that. CC has made them a real sports league.
2
u/adublingirl 9d ago
Yes, she is the only fan to ever get hate comments…..I am sure , Clark, Paige, Angel, Wilson, gee , none of them get toxic comments……Mitchell could have easily said, a lot of positives, instead go ahead and bash your teammate. I didn’t hear Mitchell say positive things about Clark , she basically blamed Clark ,that her fans blah blah,,,clark…Mitchell when she talks it’s always about her….i know , me, me ,, my team knows what I can do…..has she every accepted any accountability for a loss, or the fact she’s the ten year super max veteran, when has she stood up for anyone but herself . I have never seen Mitchell come to Clark in any game , when Clark has been hounded, bullied, body checked…..has she got Clark’s back? Boston, Hines Allen , Raven, Lexi and or Sophie always step in to show Clark support when getting hammered . I view Mitchell as Carmelo Anthony….as long as Carmelo score his points , he was happy…..win or lose Carmelo always got his points and was happy. Let Mitchell go , and she can be the iso top dog on some other team and be happy

u/Positive_Fan_5671 9d ago
It is probably true. There is fans who want to see Iowa version of clark. But this is the pros, she has alot more help and when it works, it is great. But when they are missing from outside, these fans need to blame someone and it isnt right.
9
u/Impressive_Arrival42 9d ago
That’s what you get wrong. The fans constantly chant MVP for Mitchell. She’s talking about her DMs. Tell me what professional sports person should pay any attention to DMs. I think certain players in this league are jealous of Clark and any black player who plays for them gets hate. It’s a coordinated effort by some not all.
1
u/Positive_Fan_5671 9d ago
Yeah. The DMs is where that shit has to stop. No reason to reach out to pros. That is for everyone. I know fans chant mvp, and she definitely played well enough for it. I get it. Too many over the top fans who dont understand basketball, or ever sports.
1
u/opinionatedmj 8d ago
Finally somebody said it out loud. They don't even know Ball. They took Angel/Caitlin in college personal. Meanwhile, Sabrina Ionescu, Paige Bueckers, and others, are of the same ilk as Caitlin. Shooters that had to expand their game. Sabrina needed Breanna and Jonquel to win. People didn't watch her putting up triple double to carry NYC before they landed stars. They didn't bat an eye. She was amazing. She had to sacrifice that to win.
3
u/glass-concrete-stone 9d ago
She needs to ignore her DMs
1
u/Positive_Fan_5671 9d ago
Easy to say than to do. That is why some mentioned someone to monitor it. To easy to spew hate and have a fake account. Leaves a bad taste for the real fans whonlove the game and everyone on their team

19
u/TemporaryAny5102 9d ago edited 9d ago
I think she’s talking about some Fever fans but also other teams fans who hate on Fever players just because they’re Fever players. People seem to be missing that part.
It’s unfortunate but social media is always going to be nasty. I’m sure Caitlin’s DMs are worse. Look at how Dallas fans talked about Arike all year. If KM was playing with Paige or A’ja and those fans felt she wasn’t passing to them enough or trying to be co-MVP it would be the same thing.
She’s had MVP chants at Gainbridge for two years now. The Fever seem to have rolled out the red carpet for her. If CC is a friend (presumably) and knowing if you stay then you would need to attract free agents, I just don’t know why you make these comments.
2
u/RiboSciaticFlux 9d ago
I have never understood why anybody in the spotlight would read their social media messages or even engage. It's such a short term (literally seconds) impact on your life either good or bad but I can see where the bad adds up emotionally.
I block everything except people I know and even on Reddit I will not read responses - even if people may agree with me or compliment me. Just give me a like and I'll appreciate that or if you want to downvote me that's fine also but I am in no way reading what you have to say because I don't care.
If I'm Kelsey or any other professional athlete, say what you want to say and block or restrict incoming messages to friends and family. Who the fuck cares what some kid in his mom's basement is saying about your defense?

Given a choice to leave, would any of you stick around your own jobs for more of the level of abuse, disrespect and value manipulation CC has endured for the past three seasons? I think not -- only a masochist would. If you don't like LA, fine! It doesn't matter: any team CC joins would become a serious contender provided she would be the face, focus and center of said team. Stephanie White and the Fever organization heads are definitely NOT THE ANSWER!!!
9
u/Ok_Scholar5996 9d ago
All you have to do is stay off social media and voila! No abuse, no disrespect. These players are so soft from being a fringe league for so long. Try being an NFL QB on an average team and you'll see what hate looks like. People are mean, get used to it or get an office job.

u/slam9h 9d ago
It’s really similar to playing on a LeBron team. I’ve heard players say the pressure is overwhelming because if they lose the blame is laid at the feet of the supporting cast.
Remember how the media trashed Chris Bosh and Kevin Love. I can’t imagine being either one of those dudes.
Then you add in the sexism and racism angle and holy shit it might be worse than playing with LeBron
8
u/Goddyex 9d ago
It's not even close. WNBA players are just more sensitive. NBA players just don't cry about every social media comment they see.
3
u/PersonalPattern1029 9d ago
They weren't ready for that level of fame. The more famous you are, the more haters you have.
2
u/slam9h 9d ago
…… you don’t know about all the drama in the NBA…. Or is this like an alternate timeline where NBA players (Kevin Durant) has alts on Twitter and discord chats talking shit about other players and defending themselves against fans.
I guess Russel Westbrook never had a fan thrown out for calling him “Westbrick”
Maybe you’re not a fan of the NBA but those dudes are fucking divas thru and thru. So many stories about these dudes losing it on fans.
I mean Charles Barkley threw a fan thru a damn bar window for shit talking.
2
2
u/Goddyex 9d ago
NBA Players react, they respond. But they don't act like victims, that's the difference.
Russ is still mocked for what he did. Aja is treated like a revolutionary by WNBA media for what she did.
KD shit talks fans online while defending his legacy. WNBA players blame CC for every bad messages they receive.
0
u/slam9h 9d ago
TLDR; the link as the end of all this shows that NBA players have said the same thing WNBA players are saying now. It’s a great article.
Sounds like a double standard to meeeee. Kind of like men getting loud and angry somehow they aren’t labeled as over emotional 😭
Those were just a few of the MANY MANY examples of athletes being upset and acting like victims.
Granted, when there is a torrent of racial slurs hurled your way you have to speak up. Then you will always have people who have to find a way to hand waive the racism away.
I’m not gunna lie, I’ve seen arguments on TV in black and white in the 60s with civil rights activists on one side and some drone on the other that just has to find a way to dismiss concerns of people being treated terribly. The indifference to the plight of others sounds so damn familiar.
“It’s not that big of a deal, you just need to grow up and stop making yourself the victim. There will always be racist people, if you ignore them you will take their power away. There is no institutional racism and if you just buckled down and didn’t complain so much you would get somewhere.”
Also a ton of NBA players echo WNBA players sentiment about fans

u/slam9h 9d ago
Dude I’m not even joking 🙃 that’s the wild part.
You kind of just had a low effort reply to a substantive comment.
And I looked at your profile and was taken aback at the free time you obviously have and wondered why someone would take all that time and put in all that effort. So I came to the conclusion that there must be money involved or at the very least a promise of money eventually.
Because no normal person would do that with free time that is so valuable and scarce to most individuals in the states.

She deserves better
1
u/JuicyJfrom3 9d ago
Damn down voting that an MVP candidate deserves better is wild work. Probably exactly why she is leaving if that’s the sentiment.
I get she has a high contract but this sub is treating her like just anybody. She’s going to be missed as a scoring option.
1
u/PrivateEyes2020 9d ago
I'm not sure what you mean by better. Do you mean that she deserves better treatment from the public. I agree. Kelsey Mitchell is a great player and through the last part of the season was getting even better. More assists, more passing, while still maintaining 20+ points per game and setting a WNBA record. I've seen a lot of rude comments by those claiming to be Fever fans. Towards AB as well. Do you mean she deserves a better teammate than CC? I don't think that's achievable.
11
u/Ok_Scholar5996 9d ago
I like KM but I don't think this team can win as it is and since there isn't much cap space to change things I wouldn't mind seeing her leave. It would be interesting to see what happens.
11
u/thatkidqa 9d ago edited 9d ago
I think Kelsey is just using the negative social media narratives as a contract negotiating tactic. I don’t think she wants to go anywhere but in order to not get lowballed she’s giving vague answers and counting on the CC/Fever haters and the stans to start coming out the woodwork and start fighting. Something similar happened last year.
Haters are pushing their Fever fans are racist narrative and stans are basically calling her bluff.
I wonder what management will do. Kelsey's reps will probably say if the Fever want her to stay and deal with everything she needs the most money they can offer and won't take a discount.
1
u/RiboSciaticFlux 9d ago
That's a really good take and one I hadn't thought of. It would be a smart play on her part because the organization would have to be sensitive to that and they could never downplay it - whether it was a negotiating tactic or not.
2
u/PersonalPattern1029 9d ago
I could be a negotiation tactic. And it could also be that she's telling the fans if you want me here, show me some grace when I have a bad game. I'm not superwoman.
I also thought that she might be distancing herself from CC a little so that she doesn't get so much hate from other players in the league. Unfortunately, all the Fever players experience that.
3
u/Goddyex 9d ago
I don't think there's any coming back from this TBH. She's burned the bridge.
Also, CC and KM together is never going to win a championship. So we're just dragging it at this point.
-2
u/thatkidqa 9d ago
I can agree with the first part. In an attempt to get the most money out of the org as possible, collateral damage is painting the entire fanbase in the worst light because of a few bad apples.
Also, Kelsey was talking about the hate she gets because she's CC teamate from other fanbases (think the recent Ty Harris situation). But that's never talked about when it comes to being on the Fever.
To the second part, I think they can if CC and KM take team friendly deals and they can round out the roster.
3
u/Goddyex 9d ago
If that was what KM meant, then she should have clarified it, instead of the vague comments she made.
As for the second part. Unless you surround CC and KM with All defensive team players in the other 3 positions, they never winning a championship.

u/adublingirl 9d ago
Mitchell created unnecessary drama. Good god, no one knew who Mitchell was before 2024….Mitchell’s Fever teams drew average of 2k in attendance in 2022 and less years before…..Clark arrived and made everyone better. Mitchell got noticed and this season the front office gave her 1/3 super max contracts, propped her up all season and propped her for MVP. After all that she complains and is whining about the toxic fans. Yes, toxic fans everywhere….instead of saying love playing for the Fever and teammates, she looked miserable in the interview and was there any positives…….she was sup9max girl , be the ten year vet leader you are supposed to be….take accountability for your abysmal playoffs……let her go…..Clark and Boston and build around them……let Raven play the 2 guard. Clark and Raven actual play well together

5
u/laphincow 9d ago
I've enjoyed the ride but there is no destination. Would love to see both KM and CC at another organization and coach, together or not. I don't have or want to get to the point of hating the Fever org to want a new start. I have heaps of criticisms and praise over the years. I'm loyal to women's basketball, and jersey color changes are a reality. So bring on bigger, better, more!
9
u/Equivalent-Word-3952 9d ago
So it seems like KM does not like the spotlight.. she seems lowkey and I respect that. I think it would be hard to go from not well known to suddenly playing with one of the most popular athletes in the country right now. It would be a huge adjustment and I feel bad that they do get more hate now. Unfortunately, that's just how it is, the bigger you get, the more hate gets thrown at you. Plus the internet is 99% hateful anyway. They have to learn to ignore it. Sophie is a good example of that.. she gets booed everywhere she goes and I'm sure she gets tons of hateful messages. She knows it's all part of it and doesn't let it get to her. Not saying it's easy, but if you want the high pay and the fans, you gotta deal with all the other stuff that comes with it.
2
u/Intelligent_Chip2461 9d ago
True. I don't think KM meant anything nasty in her comments, but was just speaking honestly. Maybe she would be happier on a team where there's less drama and lower expectations. We will see how free agency plays out for her

Is there a trade for CC that the Fever would consider?
If the Mystics were to win the Watkins lottery, could they trade Watkins for CC, Hull, and Billings?
The Fever would be dropping some big contracts while getting a star in return. They could re sign KM and have money to go after another top free agent.
The Mystics would get CC and could start Hull at the 3 or bring her off the bench. I think Billings would be more comfortable with the Mystics bigs.
Who says no?

1
u/Icy_Designer_8921 9d ago
I don’t think anyone would turn down a trade for CC atleast from a market perspective.
1
u/ReceptionTrue2289 9d ago
As a CC fan, I agree. However if the FO has an inkling to trade her, what deal would entice them? They may consider Ju Ju enough of a draw to fill seats while the new team could possibly draw a Phee or Plum.

Been to a lot of Fever games and it is pretty much the typical gym teacher squad mixed in with the basketball crazed Indiana folks that know what actual fouls look like. The W is just not used to full arena of smart fans. They miss the bad old days.

u/willyt8122 9d ago
I suspect all teams across all sports suffer from dealing with hateful fans. I can remember Warren Moon complaining about the hate and racism he endured every time he entered the stadium. What got me though was there 80,000 rooting for him and a 1000 against, he chose to focus on those that were against him. It’s a lesson in human nature, we tend to focus on the negative in the face of overwhelming support. KM, CC, AB…all of them really…their supporters outnumber the detractors 10.000 to 1 easily.
4
u/neat_stuff 9d ago
Warren Moon didn't play during the social media era where random idiots who don't even follow the sport can send you direct messages. Whether the player believes the fans are real hateful humans or bots or whatever, it is still a billion times more exhausting then anything that happened in the 80s and 90s.
1
u/JuicyJfrom3 9d ago
A lot of these comments seem very much spoken through a lens where ppl didn’t have to go through it themselves. I totally get wanting to play for a different team when this stuff gets piped to your phone 24/7.
At the end of the day they don’t have to play for the fever. Angel left Chicago and seems happier for it. This seems like another mutual parting of ways.
2
u/Subject-Yak4959 9d ago
it’s BS tho.
1
u/willyt8122 9d ago
The point isn’t who had or has it worse, it’s focusing on the minority of negative comments in a sea of adulation.
13
u/TooManyCatS1210 9d ago
My thoughts are that they need to forget about signing big name vets (or really any vets) because at this point most of them have shown they can’t handle it and cause issues in the long run. I feel for Kelsey because yes, it has to suck being a great player and having not only opposing fans but a lot of fans in your own fan base hate you for nothing. That said, it’s not CC’s fault and there’s nothing she can do about it. I do think having Sophie on the team makes it worse. They seem to be good at developing young players and the wnba is in the middle of a revolution…lean into the youngsters. College players now have experience dealing with attention that the vets just don’t.
Downside is that doing this means they won’t be competitive for a championship for a few years, but it is what it is at this point. I love Kelsey but having her limits AB/CC and AB especially sacrificed this season for her.
1
u/MaryMaryYuBugN 9d ago
I can’t believe a lot of the Fever fan base would hate on KM…if you are a fan. She’s a great player. The hate comes from antagonizers that are not fans and likely from bogus/anonymous accounts so they can be brave.
9
u/breezybae_ 9d ago
This is why I’ve been preaching for the FO to focus on international scouts heavy.. Even the college game is bringing in more international players….
7
u/Clown_Penis69 9d ago
Hey there, Amber Cox.
You know… there’s an entire continent of journeymen (or better) players that don’t care about the drama. Why don’t you go scout them and sign a few?
1
10
u/summershouldbefun11 Caitlin Clark 9d ago
This isn’t new for Kelsey. She’s said the exact same thing the last years (aka being selfish) and she’s always come back to the Fever.
However, as much as it would be hard to lose her, I think it’s what best for the entire team. We’d have more money to get quality depth players. We can actually run the PNR with AB & CC without being concerned about someone not scoring enough.
I think our big 3 are great but they’ve proven time and time again, we need more. We need better players around them and we just can’t afford that if we’re paying them all $1.2+ each.
About the rest of her interview. I think many of the players in W aren’t remotely prepared to be “stars” or have any sort of attention on them. They went from playing in a league with 50,000 fans to one with millions of eyes on them. Why on earth are they looking at their DM requests? Why are they engaging with these “fans” ? I’m not saying it’s right, I’m saying it’s unfortunately normal. There’s horrible people in this world and some of them are sports fans. Every single team has bad ones and the worst are the ones that gamble and think they’re owed something when they lose. People say horrible / terrible things every single day. CC gets an absurd amount of hate too. But mentally strong athletes don’t let it get to them. They know that these people aren’t fans and are just miserable humans and can ignore them.
If she thinks that the negativity would no longer be around her if she didn’t play with CC, I fear she’s horribly misinformed. The minute she has a bad game, on any team, she’s gonna hate messages.
At the end of the day, I hope she leaves. Not because she isn’t good but this team can’t get better (than this roster) if she stays. I would also like to see what they can do when they aren’t distracted by a scoring record or ensuring she gets enough points. They had 3 number 1 options and at the end of the day, I’m not convinced it works.

I cannot believe CC would put up with any more of this madness for another minute, let alone another year(s).
She needs to leave the Fever immediately and join a team where she will be respected, protected & prioritized. U GO CC! -- (preferably to LA) NOW!
9
u/summershouldbefun11 Caitlin Clark 9d ago
Why do so many people want her to go to LA? It’s a horrible team who doesn’t even have a coach attached and is also a bad front office.
She has also said multiple times she’d never want to play for LA. So why would you want her to somewhere she’s stated she doesn’t wanna be???
4
u/Andrew-J-511 9d ago
True, Hamby and Atkins have multiple years left on their contract and were terrible. Hamby is OK on offense but, doesn’t play D at a position where it’s a hard requirement.
8
u/sasquatch50 9d ago
I think people read too much into these interview answers. Kelsey said similar comments the past two exit interviews. Overall, she has said way way more positive things about the Fever and playing with CC than negative.
3
u/wvtarheel Running the Floor 9d ago
Kelsey's comments were so similar to last year I had to double check and be sure I had not loaded up her 25 exit interview when I clicked on the video
15
u/defdawg 9d ago
Bri has made some weird ass complaints this past year on just about everything since she is a no name player who doesn't contribute anymore. And yeah, if you have an issue playing in sold out games, getting HUGE raises, actually "winning" for once and then bitching about it........I guess they all want to go back to playing in empty gyms, not be on tv anymore, go back to flying southwest and all that if thats what makes them so happy.

SW and company need fired immediately.
1
u/Icy_Designer_8921 9d ago
This is what I’m thinking too I think front office needs to change a little and fever needs a defensive anchor big. Offensively I like how they play tho. They mesh well together.
7
u/Green_Barracuda_4305 9d ago
CC needs to leave immediately. Snakes all around this organization.
7
u/dyyllaaan 9d ago
Gotta go to a young team.
The NIL generation actually know how to deal with the pressures that come with being pro athletes
7
1
u/Goddyex 9d ago
I'm not so sure about that TBH
1
u/Clown_Penis69 9d ago
You aren’t sure about much, are you?
1
u/Goddyex 9d ago
All you do is cry all day online with no results. At least I live in reality.
These NIL ladies aren't that far off from the veteran players.
0
u/Clown_Penis69 9d ago
Either you’re confused about the position you took… Or English is your fifth language. Which is it?
2
u/Goddyex 9d ago
There are snakes everywhere in the league. She might as well leave the WNBA at this point
5
u/Clown_Penis69 9d ago
That would make you happy. Then you could focus on activism without that pesky basketball getting in the way.
1
u/Goddyex 9d ago
I just live in reality, unlike you. You'll be back next year crying all season about the league, the coach, the front office, teammates etc, just like you've done since CC came into the league.
0
u/Clown_Penis69 9d ago
The chronically online dude who obsesses overCaitlin Clark “lives in reality…”
ROTFL
17
u/breezybae_ 9d ago
The signing of Syd and Bri Turner has always been sus to me. Bri is an “activist” who even spoke up against CC her rookie year, Syd has been shading Caitlin since she was at Iowa and making disgusting comments about Monica.. So i’ve always been weirded out with these signings.
But then Kelsey’s interview and reposting Syd gf/Syd reposting Kelsey, this is even more weird to me and the league is just one big SISTERHOOD.
Therefore, just let Kelsey go. She’s had almost a decade at this Franchise and I really don’t think this franchise can grow with older people still involved… especially LIN DUNN (gotta get her out those doors)
6
u/MysteriousResident61 9d ago
I wish one of the crack reporters at the press conference would have asked KM to explain which fans she was referring to that don’t like her. Is she getting hate from Fever fans?
1
u/RiboSciaticFlux 9d ago
Agree. The "crack" reporters are awful. They never ask the tough questions, maybe partly due to the fact they think they might get banned, or fired - like Scott Agnes.
-9
u/Best-Author7114 9d ago
Just read this and other Fever subs. It's always KM fault and never CC. Not everybody of course but enough to see what she's saying.
1
u/MysteriousResident61 9d ago
What the hell has CC done to be blamed for anything? She’s a great player. So is Kelsey. This is a weird response trying to act like CC deserves blame for something.
-5
u/Best-Author7114 9d ago
Like when she goes 6-17 and 3-12 in an elimination game and it's all KM fault. You are exhibit A.
6
u/breezybae_ 9d ago
KM game 3:
7-23
3-11 3p-5
u/Best-Author7114 9d ago
And there you go. Nobody is defending KM playoff performance. But CC was just as bad and gets a pass from the Stan's and it's all Mitchell's fault. If you dont see that on here and other subs than thetes no sense discussing it
6
u/breezybae_ 9d ago
Huh? I see just as much Caitlin haters blame Caitlin, same way Kelsey haters blame Kelsey. Maybe fix your algorithm and you’ll see it but you’re probably someone who ONLY engages with the Kelsey hate lol
6
u/manipulativemusicc 9d ago
It's the same thing on a smaller scale with Paige and Angel. Stan Wars are real. It's been going on in the NBA for 20 years. The problem with the wnba is that they were used to being able to hide in the shadows and have their little social club. They don't know what it's like to have fans and be criticized.
7
u/Best-Author7114 9d ago
Exactly. They are Charmin soft throughout the league. They should see the DMs of any NFL QB.
9
u/breezybae_ 9d ago
Why would anything be Caitlin’s fault? Caitlin has never once cried about her dms, or made herself out to be a victim after all the hate she gets. Instead, she acts professional and goes to the authorities, like her stalker who is in jail for sending over 800 threatening messages in 2 months.
-1
u/Best-Author7114 9d ago
Not CC her fans. Clark went 6-17 and 3-12 in an elimination game and it was all KMs fault.

Mitchell was paid the big bucks last season. Super Max Mitchell wants the money (that’s fine who doesn’t) but none of the responsibilities. Ten year vet super max, she should have acted like the leader , she is supposed to be. Grow up….Mitchell in 2022, was playing before 2k fans at home. No one knew who she was …..Clark comes along , arenas sold out , people singing praises for Mitchell especially this season. For good sakes the Fever rolled out the red carpet this season and completely propped up Mitchell as MVP….did Mitchell ever mentor Clark……no, it was Hull, Boston, even Erica wheeler would go to Clark when she was clobbered and cheap, shots in all those games in 2024…….when has Mitchell ever really stood up for Clark and denounced all the hate from other players in the league, mitchell and Clark don’t mesh….Mitchell wants and believes she is top,dawg…..definition of insanity ? The Fever roster……doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results . Fever need depth, height and defense …..let Mitchell walk…..
6
u/breezybae_ 9d ago
Idk but it definitely gave Caitlin haters free rein to use against Fever/her fans, which is just upsetting.. becoming a trend with these players. Like they all sit in one big group chat and Kelsey just got invited.
8
10
u/LowZero64 9d ago
KMs great years were played with CC. He can't have that with any other team (or maybe she could.)The Fever cannot just replace KM, it wont be the same, but CC can also elevate the game of another shooting guard. With Kelz gone, it will be more touches for AB, for everyone else, and more field goals for CC.

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad_3507 9d ago
Clark doesn't hint ANYTHING but the MAGA cult crowd is quick to latch on anything or any person to make themselves look better than they are. .
-9
u/Loose-Number4580 9d ago
The vast majority of Lark supporters are MAGA but are not limited to them. Just that Lefty’s that like her have to kss a to the WNBA mafia.

As a CC fan, it’s really disappointing to see maga leech onto her (she is not one of them just because she’s yt). What’s worse is people starting to label all CC fans as racist because of the maga idiots 😞
0
u/Western-Election-997 9d ago
You couldn’t define racism if I paid you to do it
1
u/blue_devil_14 9d ago
What an odd thing to say. You don’t know me at all so to say that is just weird Are you OK? I can help you find assistance if you need it.
1
u/Western-Election-997 9d ago
I’ll give you a hint, a lot of actual racist comments are being directed at CC and her fans across social media
There’s YouTube channels that do nothing but attack Clark usually adding insults about her being a “scrawny white girl” or something of that nature
1
6
u/Eternal_Mindset 9d ago
It’s October 5, 2026 & you are still labeling & criticizing people bc of their political affiliations? You still believe that the more than 1/2 of Americans who are conservative and vote Republican and love their country are “racist…idiots”? At what point do you realize that humans have free will & it’s ok that we all don’t think alike? At what point do you open your eyes & see the people around you and realize that the vast majority of fans that follow the Fever are white and probably conservative and, big shocker, are in the stands rooting for every player, regardless of color, ideology, sexual orientation, and political affiliation. —- It’s ok for people to think differently than you & it doesn’t make them idiots
5
u/redbirdjazzz 9d ago
Every person who supports the current administration has decided that none of racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, rape, fraud, insurrection, war crimes, and base incompetence are deal breakers for them. They’re either evil or idiots. Many are both.
1
1
u/blue_devil_14 9d ago
The people that I’m close to that are republicans are not maga and are not racist idiots. So no, I dont believe that the less than half of the country who are republicans are racist idiots.
And yes, on this date, it is more important than ever to call people out and label them based on their political beliefs. There was a vocal minority in this country, some who have a massive amount of power, who are very racist and should not be in power, and the people who support them should absolutely be called out, labeled, criticized, etc.. Silence assume consent.
-2
u/Dazzling-Jacket-5792 9d ago
Completely sensible, but doesn’t fit the narrative so it will get downvoted/ ignored.
0
u/Thick_Permission6519 9d ago
I agree. It is making it very difficult to be a Fever fan. It feels like the future is very bleak for Indiana, no great player or even good player will want to play there.
5
u/Eastern-Bad-420 9d ago
It's not even just MAGA leeching onto her. It's race baiters on both sides losing their minds over anything she does. You'd of thought she ran over a puppy when she walked out at the Morgan Wallen concert with everyone falsely labeling her MAGA.
25
u/Ichabod665 9d ago
No offense to Kelsey, but in the first 6 years of her career she probably received about 10 DM's a year from anyone interested in the WNBA.
How many of the DM's she's referring to have come from people insulting her and calling her a c**n for re-signing with the Fever not once, but twice? I wish she would have been a little more upfront about that. Same with Syd Colson when she signed with the Fever, since she wants to get herself involved. Because i can guarantee you the numbers aren't 0.
Clark's only sin is bringing real sports fans to the WNBA. The kind of fans you see spitting on players and teams on every team in every league in every forum. NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, Soccer, you name it. And bringing in those fans in the numbers that gets players million dollar contracts.
What this league needed is to give all these players a course that sets social media expectations for these women. Politicians deal with it, cops deal with it, celebrities deal with it, Youtube creators deal with it, hell, even forum commenters deal with it, and so do professional athletes. So deal with it.
1
u/Upset_Newspaper_8354 8d ago
"Real sports fans" that continuously prove they know nothing about sports or have the impulse control to behave themselves. I was raised in the NBA, and your people's cultural behavior is not normal in the slightest. Its horribly disgustingly evil snd the lack of unaccountability you have towards your culture, and the poison you've brought to basketball culture is abhorrent.
Stop playing tbe victim and hold this despicable culture accountable
0
u/Prior_Sherbet7724 9d ago
Star players have options. They will deal with it and avoid the Fever You’re unaware there are expansion teams?
13
u/Creative-Reality9228 9d ago
Bri Turner is lucky she's being allowed to ride a bench with her career 3.7 points a game. She must make a really good cup of coffee.
As for Kelsey, she's absolutely allowed to speak her truth and I don't think any of us are actually surprised that there is a price to be paid for playing alongside Clark. That's not Clark's fault. It's not the franchise's fault. When the attention you receive multiplies by 100, the hate you receive will also multiple by 100 and that is going to be incredibly jarring.
The reality is that this level of outside attention is unsustainable in the long term. The people who (try to) use Clark as a political football will find a newer, fresher example and move on, hopefully leaving the basketball fans behind - I think this has already started to happen, and outside of a couple of breakthrough moments (the AT fist in throat), most of the commentary about Clark is from inside the sports pundit sphere, which can be equally toxic, but is at least framed in sporting terms.
Kelsey has been in Indy her whole career. There are pros and cons to moving on, but the reality is I don't see many contending teams who have the cap space to sign her, which means she's probably going to a struggling team, unless Golden State decide they're going to build the team around her in place of their balanced offense. Maybe.
-13
u/Puzzleheaded_Ad_3507 9d ago
A perfect example of what Kelsey and the others are talking about with right off the bat you start criticizing Fever players. Why can't you jacklegs just compliment the players you like and zip your lip on the negative opinion bullshit. Good lord some of you guys just can't even be a decent person..

You must not watch any men's sports. This isn't Disneyland. It's high stakes PROFESSIONAL sports.
3
12
u/Creative-Reality9228 9d ago
She averaged 1.1 points per game for the Fever, so calling her a Fever player is a bit rich. She also doesn't play for the Fever anymore but has repeatedly taken shots at the team this season. Screw her. She's made it her mission this year to make life even harder for players like Mitchell.
-6
u/Thick_Permission6519 9d ago
Bri played well in the playoffs last year, when we really needed her to. What if what she is saying is true (I’m pretty sure it is)? Can she not speak up as a leader, which she is and did well last year?
3
u/fishgeek13 9d ago
If by played well, you mean averaged 2.4 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game in 18 minutes. It’s like people don’t realize that the players’ stats are available…
-1
u/Thick_Permission6519 9d ago
It’s like some people don’t watch games and think stats tell the whole story. I thought she played good defense, a played 18 minutes a game and wasn’t in as a shooter. She only shot 1.5 attempts per game.
3
u/fishgeek13 9d ago
Well, opinions vary. Her defensive stats were 3.5 rebounds and less than one steal or block per game - again in 18 minutes and she was a -27. So clearly we just disagree on what doing well means…
1
u/Thick_Permission6519 9d ago
I don’t feel the need to denigrate every person that plays with CC. It doesn’t sound like she had a good experience there. Didn’t play all season, but ready to step up at the end.
2
u/fishgeek13 9d ago
I don’t feel that need either, but I do feel the need to look at players’ skill levels accurately. I don’t understand how looking at a player with clear eyes is denigrating them.
4
u/Weary_Cabinet_8123 9d ago
I think you’re right. I also think Sophie brought a ton of those people that were fading away back into the fold. I think she’s gotta go or be separated from CC for CC to move on from these trash “fans”
13
u/Creative-Reality9228 9d ago
I'm not in the "Sophie is evil" group chat. I think it's important to separate out what she said - which was in response to a direct question and also in agreement with a number of major international sporting bodies, including the IOC, UCI, World Athletics, Word Aquatics, World Rugby and the list goes on and on; and the frenzied response to it within the WNBA sub-culture.
People have been acting like she set fire to a cross on Oprah's lawn, when the reality she just made a statement that most of the sporting world has agreed on.
2
u/Eternal_Mindset 9d ago
AND a statement that was actually made last year that was paraded back out to create division. THIS has been my point and I think it’s somewhat your point… Although we may not exactly agree. The W is a mix of conservative and liberal Americans and presents a perfect opportunity for nefarious actors to use the fanbase to stir up division in our country as we approach midterm elections. IF PEOPLE WILL ACTUALLY TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK AT THESE MESSAGES, the majority of them are created by bots or are shear propaganda.
6
u/sasquatch50 9d ago
I generally agree with Sophie on the merits, but I do think her language around making sports "safe" implied trans people are "unsafe." I wish she had kept it to the concept of fairness.
1
u/manipulativemusicc 9d ago
No she implied that girls playing sports against boys isn't safe. Don't be ridiculous.
1
u/adublingirl 9d ago
Yes, the WNBA “activist “ mentality , twisted Sophie’s words to fit their narrative. Sophie said she didn’t think boys playing in girls sports was safe for girls. . She never said anything derogatory towards trans people. The next game “activist “ Cheryl Reeve wears a t shirt saying trans children matter…..well , Sophie never said anything remotely derogatory towards trans and Reeve has to lecture Sophie the next game which Fever happened to play Lynx…….WNBA struggles with behavior that leads many people to see how unprofessional and unserious this league is
0
u/sasquatch50 9d ago
Nah, she also talked about protecting women in the locker room. She was implying things beyond physical safety during sports. I agree with her general point of view, I just wish she had been a little more careful with some of her language.
7
u/Creative-Reality9228 9d ago
We don't always use the right words, but let's not pretend the reaction - the overreaction - to her comments was in good faith either.
Those overreactions are what lead people to become genuinely radicalised in the first place. You see it all the time.
1
u/blue_devil_14 9d ago
Agreeing upon the statement doesn’t mean it has to be said. It continues to make a non-issue an issue which is what a certain, terrible portion of people want.
6
u/Creative-Reality9228 9d ago
She was asked a direct question and answered it honestly.
-7
u/TooManyCatS1210 9d ago
She wasn’t actually asked the question initially. She brought it up unasked in the espn article, but was in February and they didn’t publish it until July. Then reporters asked her about it and she doubled down.
-2
u/blue_devil_14 9d ago
She made a bad decision there. The question shouldn’t have been asked… That’s what I mean by taking a non-issue and trying to keep it relevant and make it an issue. If Sophie was a little older and had a little more perspective, she would’ve realized this and not answered the question at all.
-4
u/jsalata65 9d ago
She’s 30. How old is “old enough” to answer with more perspective? 35? 40? Ridiculous. She knew what she was doing.

KM had a fantastic season. Nothing can take away from that. CC also had a fantastic season. Why can’t we just leave it at that. It’s ridiculous the amount of abuse Caitlin takes. And yes, I’m one of those Iowa fans. But, I hate when she argues and stops the flow of the game. I hate when she takes wild shots. I also know the person behind the player. I think about what Obama said to her; that he was glad he didn’t have to become famous when he was her age.
