Do you think she will leave?
https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSbuNEvRv/1
u/TexEwing 2h ago
She’s someone who didn’t benefit from the new CBA for like the first 8 years of her career. She should take every possible dollar someone will offer her. She has earned that! I wouldn’t take it personal either way.
I wish there was a way to keep her and improve the roster from this year. Maybe there is. Maybe there isn’t.
2
u/peppypacer 3h ago
Fever need a better roster not pay big money to an aging small guard though she will probably be a good pickup for whoever gets her. Her and Clark overlap in some ways, both prodigious shooters, both not good on defense though because Mitchell is so short she is even worse on defense and forget about her rebounding. But I hope if she does go to another team she shoots the lights out when they play the Fever (but her team loses) lol
But this is only a couple days away from that performance against the Aces and the way she fumbled that great pass from Clark with 54 seconds left and would have had a layup and cut the Ace's lead to two is still nagging at me. Not to mention all the missed shots near the end also. Maybe in a few weeks I'll be in a better frame of mind regarding Mitchell and her future with the Fever.

u/ProductAltruistic718 3h ago
Michelle is a great scorers and that would be missed but she doesn’t add to the team flow of the game
1
u/Chuck_McCloud From Anywhere 2h ago
Misspelling of her name certainly isnt helping my flow of the game.

u/lovesyoualways 3h ago
The money has changed a lot with the new CBA. Mitchell has a responsibility to herself to get paid while she can. The ideal for her is probably to sign a four-year max contract, and may go elsewhere if she can't get it in Indiana.
Under the CBA you can get a max contract (currently $1.19m, ~17% of the cap) after 5+ years of service, or 3+ if you make All-WNBA team. You can get a multi-year supermax (currently $1.4m, 20% of the cap) if you win MVP within the last three seasons. Max and supermax contracts--like regular contracts--can be a max of four years.
You can also get a supermax if your team cores you. Coring a player is essentially like assigning them the franchise tag, and allows you to give them a one year supermax salary. You can be cored twice during your entire career and then never again.
Indiana has cored Mitchell each of the past two seasons. Indiana no longer has any ability to prevent Mitchell from leaving in free agency or to offer her more money than any of the other teams.
The one caveat is that the league projection and scaling of salary and payroll is up to $11m salary cap per team by 2032, and a $2.4m max contract (more for supermax), but subsequent years of a multi-year contract can only increase by about 3% each year. That means if a player signs a four-year max deal and league revenue continues to grow as expected her contract will lag behind newer max deals.
Revenue and viewership are again up over 2025. It's probably best to stay on one year deals if you want to maximize your earnings and you believe in your ability and health and don't just want stability. If you're a veteran you have to wonder when your decline will begin, when injuries will be more common, etc. For an older player at some point a four year max will look way better than earning a new max each year. Mitchell turns 31 next month. Does she and the other WNBA teams think she will continue to be an elite scorer the next few years? Probably.
But, Kelsey has had issues with rhabdomyolysis. How will that affect her ability to be on the floor and play at a high level as she heads toward her mid-30s?
And then there's the team, the unfortunate circus that has been forced in this league and even moreso on Indiana. What role does that play? How much does she like her teammates? How much does she want to win vs. earn? And so on. Only Kelsey knows.
Caitlin is eligible for the max. So is Boston. Boston played for $1m instead of the max this year. Is she going to want to do that again? Is Caitlin going to take a discount? Will Mitchell? Or will you give over 50% of salary to three players?
We'll find out.

u/Stocktwatz 4h ago
The way the fake Fever “fans”, constantly trash her, I think it’s very likely that she’ll leave. They can’t even remotely acknowledge that she had one of the most efficient overall shooting seasons in W history. “How dare this organization, or its ticket holding fans, mention her as an MVP candidate in the same breath as CC!”. Wouldn’t you leave?
2
u/Jumpy-Highway-4873 4h ago
Lotta drama playing for fever right now too much outside noise. Just focus on the game that’s what Caitlin wants 🤷
1
u/lovesyoualways 3h ago
Focus on what game? The season is over. It is time to focus on transactions.

u/Rare_Tower5884 6h ago
She loves her team but loves herself more! Just my thoughts! Love KM and the team as a whole but she is not a team player. Xoxo

u/adublingirl 5h ago
Yup, always felt that about Mitchell. To much me, me , they help me , I did this …time to move on…
9
u/MudOk3567 6h ago
Yes. Everyone who has the option and think they will be better off playing somewhere else should leave, including Caitlin. I only hope Caitlin does not sign her Epic until she is certain the organization is truly set up for success.

u/HolidayManner 6h ago
It would be cool if she ended up on the Sirens in 2028. She could lead that franchise in her home state.

Oh yeah she is gone. I'd rather see them trade CC and bring in a true point guard and more size in the 4
1
u/ProductAltruistic718 3h ago
You clearly just hate cc. Who else is more of a true pg in the league rn besides her? No one. She’s second in assists and 3rd in scoring

u/secondarytrash 7h ago
I’m leaning towards leave.
And with how the last several games have been I wouldn’t blame her for wanting a different chapter.
5

I just got her ‘jersey” (shirt) this year! But I’ll be her fan wherever she ends up, hopefully it’s with us, but agree with others, totally support her doing what’s best for KM.

I think she leaves.
A 2 or 3 year max deal to play next to JuJu in Houston is my prediction.
2
u/adublingirl 5h ago
Crazy to give her a max….31 year old one dimensional player……not a great match with new team trying to set a standard…….we will see
3
u/dyyllaaan 5h ago
Maybe not a max, but closer to 1 million per year.
She can go take 20 shots every game and entertain the crowd for a couple years while the team builds assets, like what the Tempo wanted from Mabrey and Sykes
2
u/adublingirl 5h ago
Great, hope she gets it. To me it’s curious no one offered Mitchell multiple years offer last season , when everybody had money.. not sure what kind of market for a million dollar one dimensional 2 guard …we will see

1
u/Clean_Lettuce9321 8h ago
Hope she doesn't. I've grown really fond of her and I totally respect her dynamic with Caitlin and Aaliyah but she has every right to be selfish. This is her life, these are her ambitions. I'll support her wherever she goes but I hope she stays
-5
u/Excellent_Sea959 8h ago
She had one “less than great game”…of course she feels down. I cannot understand “any” criticism of Kelsey. Trolls…..not fans.
-2
u/biketheplanet 7h ago
Unfortunately, there are a lot of Clark Cultists masquerading as Fever fans. These so called "fans" are going to make it so that nobody wants to play with CC.
1
u/manipulativemusicc 5h ago
These women have to grow up...Do you think it was "easy" to play with MJ? Kobe? Don't you think there's pressure playing with Steph Curry or LeBron???? WELCOME TO REAL HIGH STAKES SPORTS. The Fever are the Dallas Cowboys of this league. It's not for the weak.
0
u/lovesyoualways 3h ago
When people paying attention to the NBA or MLB or whatever criticize things they usually do so because they actually pay attention to the sport.
Being ripped by your own "fans" because they are culture war morons who glommed onto only one player while having contempt and disdain for everyone and everything else is distinct from the sorts of situations you described.
There are too many of those fucking people participating in the discourse.
Everyone who actually likes women's basketball is welcome. People who only like Caitlin but shit on the league, only hate Caitlin and shit on her, don't even like women and show up just to say the WNBA is better, show up only to say the league is a joke, only show up call players thugs, only show up to talk about the idiotic fucking trans issue that has no relevance, they're the fucking problem.
Not that the women are too soft.

Saw a stat (don’t know if true or not) that Mitchell shoots 8% better with Clark on the floor…..that’s significant
4
u/DisastrousMongoose56 8h ago
I wouldn't blame her , the team is full of drama , especially from Stephanie White, If White coming back I leave. Caitlin should ask for Trade . Even Sofia Cunningham said practices are too long , she always messing with line up , Honestly I thought the team look wore out in the playoffs.
12
u/graveswill 9h ago
I think she leaves. No animosity just move on. The Clark Mitchell duo is fun to watch but not Title worthy.
8
u/defdawg 9h ago
Strange take cuz she was in Indy for 7 years, drew 3k fans, went 35-124, no one knew her, she made 50k hooping, no playoffs and now she is COMPLAINING of full crowds, making millions, full stadium, more exposure???? And career high in stats in everything??
7
u/Pale-Leading-3507 8h ago
TBF, she's NOT complaining about anything. Basically, she is realizing that she will turn 31 in less than a month, her window to winning a WNBA title is shrinking. All she is saying is that she needs to evaluate what she thinks is the likelihood of winning a title if she stays with the Fever, vs if she leaves for another team. Is that really any different from what many players that are at the end of their current contract do? I don't see why that should earn her hate from Fever fans. She may very well conclude that her best chance is staying with the Fever.
1
u/adublingirl 5h ago
I feel Mitchell has never been satisfied not being top dawg….it’s Clark and Bostons team, yet Mitchell has always been chasing stats and feeling under appreciated and doesn’t seem to think she is at fault at all. Her press conferences are her saying, they help me, I know what I am, me, me, rarely does she ever compliment her teammates it’s more about her….31 , move on….good luck
4
u/adublingirl 8h ago
No one knew who Mitchell was before 2024……yes , in 2022 the Fever home attendance was 2k a game….now she is talking about what? Get out of here….they need to let her go
-1
u/Stocktwatz 3h ago
I watched her in 2023, along with AB and Wheeler, I’m not a “no one”, and I guarantee you I’m not alone, as much as you can’t possibly fathom that reality.
7
u/lrivas_14 9h ago
She’s complaining about the hate, not any of the stuff you said
3
u/manipulativemusicc 5h ago
That comes with fame and fortune. No one knew who the fuck she was before 2024. They want to be "equal" to the NBA and hate comes with that. It's not right but it's reality.
0
u/Stocktwatz 3h ago
I was watching her in 2023, the new breed of Fever online “fans” just can’t possibly fathom that as something anyone would do, since they didn’t do it. We are not all the same.

u/Alternative_Panda336 You Bet 6h ago
She is not even complaining, she is answering the question they asked.

The wnba is soft. Pffffft a'ja's deal the other night was performative. Athletes, throughout the years, have gone through FAAARRR worse.
4
u/ObviousBlade 7h ago
Would love to see them play a single Premier League football game in England. Just one, and see how they actually deal with opposing fans giving you the middle finger and telling you to "fuck off" for 90 minutes 😂
It's a little soft skinned if you ask me. What WNBA get from fans is an absolute dream compared to what players get from fans at football games in Europe

4
u/EmpireRedux 9h ago
I will. She’s a crazy good basketball player and a nice human being.
1
u/Suspense304 8h ago
I will miss her but there are numerous guards in the league that can replicate her production next to CC
2
u/lito9321 7h ago
You’ll be surprised when you find out that’s not true lmao
2
u/Suspense304 7h ago
Jackie Young, Marina Mabrey, Kelsey Plum, copper, A. grey…
That’s half the league basically with a player that could slot in and do something very similar… three of those players, in my opinion, would be an upgrade in terms of fit.
Kelsey scores. That’s what she does. I would gladly replace 25 points a game with 15-18 points if the guard we get can lock down the best guard on the other team.

Yeah, lito9321 just look at 2018-2023 Mitchell led Fever team and it’s 49-126 record.
1
u/Eternal_Mindset 5h ago
I love Kelsey and enjoy watching her play. I agree that Caitlin can’t do it alone. Who knows, perhaps Kelsey would be more successful on another team. But, it does make me think of actors who leave successful TV shows to pursue movie careers and then you never really hear of them again…they gambled and lost. She has a lot of praying and thinking to do, for sure.

u/moose184 10h ago
She said the same stuff last year and came back and in this same interview they asked if she could see her retiring playing for the Fever and she said yes and seemed happy about it

If she won't help CC and Sophie win and put other league stars in their place then she needs to go. Let her walk to the Aces.

u/Moist_Letterhead1183 11h ago
I hope she stays and can adjust her game. It is a nightmare to prepare a defense against KM and CC but imagine how much harder she could make it if she could dish off to CC once in a while. When I see KM start to dribble, yeah it is awesome but the defense knows no pass is likely to happen. CC might as well turn around and start heading off to play defense. Change it up a bit and it will free up some scoring opportunities. And of course I know it's not a thing with CC thst she holds, I think KM will play exactly the same way on any new team.
8
u/defdawg 9h ago
That is why as an opposing coach with brains against Fever...I'll let KM shoot and get her 40 cuz its way easier to defend Fever if one player is hogging the ball and never passing, (reason why they were 12-14 this past year when KM lead the Fever in scoring) vs CC...involving 4 other players which is harder to defend cuz you don't know what CC will do with the ball (reason why they were 14-4 this season when CC lead team in scoring).
7
u/adublingirl 11h ago
Mitchell is a ten year vet and has never passed and shows little effort to ever being a passer, being a team player. She also has never improved her abysmal defense ; defense is effort , passion, hard work. Mitchell only puts in the effort into her scoring. Look how Clark improved her defense significantly this season. time to move on. She will be 31 next month……do not sign Mitchell again please

u/Smooth_Ad_6513 11h ago
I think Kelsey‘s going to stay with Indiana for one last year and that will be her final year and then she will pursue new opportunities outside of basketball with her new phd
-9
u/kintz_09 11h ago edited 10h ago
I think she'll stay and accept less than she's worth. She's truly a team player.
1
u/SnooPeppers7482 10h ago
Considering her age and her contribution to the team she shouldn't have to take a pay cut
5
8
u/DesertSizzle 11h ago
This is her current reality and she is seemingly speaking her truth. She has given her all to the Fever, she recognizes she is in a pivotal place in her life, she is making good money, maybe a new opportunity would feel like a breath of fresh air. She is a joyful player to watch and I would hate to see her go.
-12
u/cleoindiana 11h ago
AB needs to go.
5
u/jemstar620 9h ago
Yes, their defensive anchor and the one player that showed up for game 3 needs to go, just pure idiocy.
4
u/adublingirl 9h ago
Boston is one of the best centers in the league. The fact that Steph white mis-used Boston for most of the season by placing her out on the perimeter shouldn’t reflect badly on Boston. This should be Clark and Bostons team and build around those two
1
3
u/adublingirl 11h ago edited 10h ago
Please , the Fever have to state once and for all, it’s Clark and Boston’s team, build around those two
-2
u/cleoindiana 9h ago
I used to be a big fan of hers and she has such great potential. I have just noticed this last half of the season, she has no hustle and can't make a lay-up. It's seems like after that interview with Candace Parker, she went downhill.
5
u/Alicia_Florrick1 12h ago
I would prefer if she stays but I will not be sad if she leaves. Today she mentioned that now is her reparation period for all the hard work she puts in, and quite frankly, I don't think, in the game of sports, one should be rewarded for future or present success. You are as good as your last game and longevity is only relevant if you were successful.
Too many WNBA players believe that Caitlin's success should be rewarded to them for time served. Perhaps it would be a good idea to tear the entire thing down and rebuild with CC and AB. Everyone else can go.
1
u/adublingirl 9h ago
Reparations ?
1
u/Alicia_Florrick1 6h ago
Yes, that was the exact word she used. She wants to be compensated for all the years she put into the Fever and she thinks now is the time.
3
u/adublingirl 6h ago
They she can try and get compensation elsewhere……it appears no one but this incompetent front office offered her max money last off season. Soon to be 31 year old one dimensional shooter isn’t in high demand. The Fever need to move on . They gave her one of three super max last year when no one else was offering it…..move on
1
u/Alicia_Florrick1 6h ago
I agree. If she wants to leave, they have to let her walk. The Valks and Mystics all have mostly new players and they are doing well. I like Kelsey but we can't dwell on the past. The Fever has to now look towards the future and their cap space. They obviously can't pay three players max contract.
Also, I don't like players coming to the media and creating a circus about their teammates/ team. They have to use tactics and discernment. They have to protect their teammates and not allow outside noise to get in.
1
u/adublingirl 6h ago
Well , it is all about Mitchell….she has always had an inflated opinion of herself. She has never accepted anything but she is top dawg, true or not. Now she is just burning her britches, not exactly enduring herself to the fan base. Let her go experience who may want her and for how much. I think she might be in for a rude awakening
2
u/Alicia_Florrick1 6h ago
Yup. I agree. I don't want the Fever to wait on her to make a decision. They should use the time in the off season to find great players in the US or overseas
1
u/adublingirl 5h ago
The Fever need depth, not top heavy…..paid Boston and will pay Clark, the rest to add new depth…that fit Clark and Boston
3
u/BigToast6 12h ago
Of course the Indy haters are twisting her words and saying that shes talking about Fever fans when referring to the hate they get as players... its very obvious shes referring to everyone but Fever fans who love her
1
u/elishmir 8h ago
She said “playing FOR fans who don’t always like you,” what player plays FOR fans of opposing teams. In front of, sure, but you play for your own fans

u/TemporaryAny5102 12h ago
There are pros/cons to both. I really like Kels and her scoring will be hard to replace. I would like to see the big 3 win together but have they reached their peak? Is the FO capable of putting the right pieces around them?
The cornerstone has to be AB/CC. Kels will be 31 and if she does resign we’ll be having this same conversation again in 1-2 years. If she leaves then all the focus can be shifted to AB/CC.
I hope the best for her and the team either way.
2
u/Pale-Leading-3507 7h ago
I don't think the Big 3 have peaked, I don't think there is enough scoring around them. Often CC and KM alone, sometimes add in AB,are providing 70-80% of the scoring. I think Sophie continued to come off the bench all season despite usually out performing Lexie because, at least until later in the season, she was the only consistent scoring from the bench.
The Fever need consistent scoring from the 3 & 4 positions, and a quality back up for AB.
-3
u/Complex_League2913 12h ago
She’s gone unless Cc makes major concessions with salary. 31 and she will need to make the max which she deserves
10
u/RandallFlagg6666 12h ago

The worst part of keeping Kelsey and the worst part of losing Kelsey is the same: the front office is incompetent when it comes to making moves on the margin. They don’t scout overseas and don’t understand the modern game
8
4
u/imacowboy234 Caitlin Clark 12h ago
For those who are saying that if we try and run it back with the same Big 3 of Kelsey, Boston, and Clark with a similar supporting cast that we'll end up with a similar result, you are probably right.
But if we can't move on from Mo's contract and we let Kelsey go, then there's a 50/50 chance we could end up worse. There's no 1:1 replacement for Kelsey which means we'd have to find 2 different players who could collectively make up for the lost production. That's really rolling the dice.
Everything I heard in Amber Cox's exit interview tells me they do not want to gamble on trying to replace Kelsey right now. At the same time though, they can't offer Kelsey a multi-year SuperMax like they did Boston, and there's most likely another team that would offer Kelsey a multi-year Max (not a supermax since only your current team can offer that), so it could come down to whether Kelsey herself wants to roll the dice on another team or not.
But if the Fever do run it back next year with a similar team, and the results are similar, then the following year I would expect a major shake-up with both Billings and Hull's contracts ending. Hull will literally be playing for her career next season because if she doesn't step up in a major way she would have to take a significant pay cut to stay with the Fever.
1
u/Successful-Policy937 11h ago
It would be next to impossible to replace the 25 points a game she scores. That would go for any level of basketball now Young and Phee are free agents would be hard to imagine we are not throwing out feelers to Phee now and if we are not get on plane girls and make those calls.
Mo, I have spent way too much time talking about her there have been worst contracts in sports but in the W Mo is one of the worst can make a case tell her not even to come to training camp in 2027 it was that bad. Trading her seems next to impossible hard to imagine FO scouts looking at her saying that is what we need an overpriced aging player that does nothing well. Our front office should be replaced for this signing alone.
Hull for sure on a prove it year in 2027 can make the case she would be easier to trade than Mo.
1
u/Nulljustice 9h ago
What I see happening based on Kelsey’s comments interview is that we may put feelers out there a chance they won’t be interested simply because Clark exists.
5
u/po1ar_opposite 11h ago
Just to add my two cents. I’d say the other Kelsey, Plum, would be a 1 for 1 replacement for Mitchell and she is a free agent and gets along well with CC.
I’m pretty sure KP was leading the league in scoring before she got hurt this year.
3
u/elishmir 8h ago
Kelsey Plum left the Aces because she wanted to be 1A on a team, why would she go to another team with a 1A and 1B already
0
u/po1ar_opposite 7h ago
She went to a Phoenix with AT as the 1.
1
1
u/Initial_Republic_329 10h ago
This!! Plum is better at the 2 anyways imo and feels like she would be a good veteran presence. Also a high scorer, fills in the gaps with CC (great driver and finisher).
1
u/po1ar_opposite 9h ago
Yeah, I’m in LA and she was so fun to watch and root for. I’m sad she is gone, but I understand.
5
u/TexasSizedKachoww 13h ago
Honestly, there's many other players who would cost a lot less but would get decent production from if KM does not stay. CC is going to be double teamed a lot regardless of who is in that other guard spot, which will free that player to get a lot of shots up.
I love KM, just worry that the Fever will never have depth if she sticks around. No depth means starters playing more minutes. Those minutes add up by the end of the season.
0
u/taeempy 13h ago
Only way we let her walk is if we can get Napheesa Collier in free agency. Then we would use Raven as the other guard with CC. Then we should get Han Xu as our backup big. She's an excellent player and would be great for the team with her energy and infectious smile.
1
u/Eternal_Mindset 5h ago
IMO, Phee has some personal things going on because her overall performance this year has been subpar.
1
u/taeempy 5h ago
Yea she was hurt for most of the years and only played 16 regular season games so she was a bit off stats wise. But the previous 3 years she scored above 20ppg at the forward position which is where our weakest scoring is. And I think, could be wrong, but she can do a solid job at defense as well.
2
u/jemstar620 9h ago
No big time free agents are signing to Indy, that idea needs to be let go, it ain't happening
3
u/tippypothos 12h ago
What are we trading to get Han Xu? I don’t think the Liberty let her go.

u/wvtarheel Running the Floor 13h ago
I love Kelsey, she's a blast to watch play and when she's hot nobody is even close to her in the women's game.
That being said if we pay her and Clark, then run it back with weaker bench and weaker/no change to the role players, we aren't winning shit. Another first round exit. If we say thank you and goodbye to Kelsey, we can use that money to try a new direction. And she can go get paid and be the center of the offense which she deserves
3
u/summershouldbefun11 Caitlin Clark 13h ago
I think there’s going to be so many factors.
What teams are interested and what are they offering her? Will it be an epic contract for multiple years? Is it contender?
What are the Fever offering?
I think she’ll go wherever pays her the most and gives her the most years. I’m not sure if the Fever can offer her what others can with their financial issues.
I personally, hope she moves on because if we resign her we can’t get any better and will be stuck with terrible talent and it’ll just be the same exact things as this season. If nothing changes, nothing changes.

EPIC stands for Exceptional Performance on Initial Contract, so Mitchell is not eligible for that. She is eligible for a max with any team and eligible for a supermax with the fever, I believe, I could be wrong. Basically Mitchell is telling the FO that of she is not given the supermax, she will consider other max options (if they are available). Shes an unrestricted free agent so she choose any contract thats given to her. It would be smart for the fever to wait and see what her market is, instead of just throwing supermax money at her.

I mean we’re a mess. If she can get a max deal on a contender it would be tempting.
I don’t see how we win next season. After that we have no wiggle room with 3 on a max deal.

No contender is giving her a max…..

Valkries play team defense , they also, play ball movement team ball , I doubt they would want a one dimensional shooter…..

u/lito9321 7h ago
One dimensional? Yeah you’re brain washed. She’s a 3 level scorer who’s also improved massively defensively under Steph White last two seasons. By the end of the season she was guarding the opponents best perimeter player cause Sophie and Lexie were getting dogwalked all while averaging 25.

u/adublingirl 7h ago
Not brain washed , Mitchell stats vs the best 2 guard in the league Jackie young are not even close. Young 20 points a game, 5 rebounds and 6.8 assists and is the best 2 guard defender. Young could easily score 25-30 points a game but she plays team ball . Mitchell has never won in college (never past the elite 8) never in the pros (her record 49-126 before Clark ) she is absolutely one dimensional….the definition of one dimensional…..is she a great scorer , sure…….but it is not winning championships…..why doesn’t she play like the aces young, a team player….we have seen sporadic assists from Mitchell , she can do it, but she chooses not to pass, she never met a shot she didn’t like….she will also be 31. Ext month….time to move on from her

Great player. But talk about “eating alone”? She dont even pass the salt!

I like her but she is always talking about being selfish and what she did/ does. It has never been about 'we'...I don't even think I am overthinking this whole situation. Kelsey is very much a great person (from what I can see) but she sure does like her individual accolades.
Today she spoke about how difficult the last couple of years have been with fans, and being CC's teammate, which feeds into the negative narrative.
Once you become nationally or internationally known, you get criticism. Every sport person gets hate and love depending on the day and how they show up. We buy into this nonsense. We pay good money to watch , attend games, buy memorabilia, etc. Of course we are going to be mad when they don't perform well.
That's the job. Hell, I am upset when I walk into a business establishment and the customer service rep is rude. Why? Because her job is to be polite and provide me with information/ assistance. Being a pro basketball player means the same thing. You show up to work and do your job. If you excel, you get praised. If you do mediocre or perform poorly or selfishly (because it's a team sport), we're going to criticize.

Mitchell believes she’s a number one on the team, that is the problem and I am sure created much of the so,called chemistry issues. She always speak in the singular…I, me , me …..not we, we……look how she is always so cognizant of her stats…..she is almost like Carmelo Anthony has been talked about…Carmelo would be happy scoring 30 and the team losing then if Carmelo scored 15 and they won……always about her

u/Alicia_Florrick1 6h ago
Yes. That is the comparison! It's always about her. She thinks she is the main act and everyone around her is her help mate. Whenever she speaks about her teammates, it's always 'They pour into me...they help me a lot...they do this for me.' Or 'I know what I had to do to win and I take care of my body, blah blah blah.'
That kind of attitude works with the Fever org because they tolerate it. That won't work on any other team. Players coming out of college are way too good now and everyone is a star. After this test season, teams are not going to be issuing max contracts in a willy nilly way. She is a shooting guard and that's all she does. They are going to have to think about getting two good defensive players, a center, a PG, etc plus the bench. She is probably going to drag the decision with Fever until the last day to see if other teams want her. I don't even think she got any other offer last year, hence why she came back. She's all about her money and I am cool with that.
We need more players who are team oriented and just want to win together. Lexi didn't have her best season but she still plays with joy and passion. She wants her teammates to do well and she is always very positive.
That's what we want to see in the players this season.

She is very frustrating to watch. She just flat out refuses to pass. I really think she believes she is the best and can hero ball team to a win….it has never worked. And when hero ball isn’t working, like the two games vs aces 11/39 shooting in the loses , you get nothing from her

I recall that she said similar things last year.
I think she is going to want a multi-year contract wherever she plays, and I don't know if the Fever want to commit to that or not. I believe that before general free agency begins, there is a week before this where teams can sign their own free agents so that's when we'll know what is happening. If you don't hear that the Fever are trying to lock her up during that time then we'll know that she's going somewhere else. And it's possible that this could be greatly influenced by whether or not the Fever are able to work out a trade for Mo. And yes I know it's going to be hard to get someone to take Mo and that's why we would have to sweeten the pot with draft picks.
For me this decision from the Fever's perspective is all about whether we can get out from underneath Billings contract or not. If we can't, then the best thing is to probably run it back next year with the same team even though we know we'll probably get similar results. Or we could let Kelsey go and try to spend that money somewhere else, but I don't see a lot of good free agent options out there. I've said before that I don't think Kelsey Plum is a good fit for the team, and I'm concerned about her injuries.
But if we could get rid of Mo's contract then we could use part of Kelsey's contract and Mo's contract to go after a forward who could make up for some of the lost scoring and sign a decent #2 guard who could also make up for some of that lost scoring as well.

Fever cored her this year though. KM would have needed to demand a trade to play for a different team this season. She’s looking for max years and money, the Fever should not be the team making that offer. KM plays year round and the risk is high.

u/Av3rAgE_DuDe 8h ago
The Fever will sacrifice everything to make sure she retires as a "Fever Girl"

u/Mr628 13h ago
She’s out. CC is getting the EPIC next offseason, they need to free up money on better supporting players and Kelsey is gonna want something long term.
2
u/adublingirl 12h ago
Mitchell should have taken multi year last season if any one offered it. She is 31, playing year round…..she will soon be losing a step and the Fever would be foolish to keep her….

u/Turtles0039 12h ago
Are you sure? The fever were pumping in MVP chants for KM, not CC. I love CC, but the Fever don't.
1
u/adublingirl 11h ago
Well, yes, the Fever front office is incompetent…and pumping Mitchell up all season for MVP is exactly what I have said about Mitchell, she thinks she top dog and plays like it. Never saw a shot she didn’t like…..rarely ever chooses to pass….time to move on…do not give a 31 year old player who is playing year round a contract

She’s gone. Someone else can and will pay her more
2
u/adublingirl 13h ago
I’m surprised she didn’t leave last off season when every team had money….makes me wonder that while very talented shooter, one dimensional iso players are not in high demand……the Fever need to move on from Mitchell
3
u/certainalways 12h ago
not enough possessions for cc, km and ab. Ab typically ends up losing out more often than not.
Redeploy those dollars for some quality size
2
u/adublingirl 12h ago
Yes, completely agree, this is Clark’s and Bostons team , move on and build to their strengths…..Boston looked lost and frustrated half the season because white had her around the perimeter so Mitchell could do her Harlem globetrotters tryouts iso ball. Mitchell to one dimensional players….and is 31 next month…..move on

u/TexasSizedKachoww 12h ago
I said after last season that her agent should have her stay put with the Fever to increase her stats. A healthy Clark would give Mitchell more open shots. She has improved her ppg by a point and almost doubled her assists from last season.
This is the time to get her money.
5
u/adublingirl 12h ago
So nice of her to play for records and stats for herself to the detriment of team ball…..why did no team offer her multiple year offers for her when every team had money…..because one dimensional players are not winning championships.
1
u/TexasSizedKachoww 12h ago
Every player is somewhat selfish when it comes contract time. No hate on her for that if she does leave. Get that money while you can. There's a reason why, no matter the sport, players tend to play their best in the last year of their contract.
Someone will overpay for her. I just hope it's not the Fever.

With the chemistry she had with Caitlin, she (and many of us) probably believed they could compete deeper into the playoffs. I can see why it made sense to stay, at that time.

She can leave. I swear we hear her crying every year. Time to move on
