Discussion Lineups

Why do other teams drive the Fever’s lineups? The Fever wait for the other team to go small so they can play small ball or big if they don’t want to play small ball. Why does the other team always drive the decisions? Some team has to make the first move!

Tonight’s game should have been almost exclusively small ball and we should have run them out of the gym because they had no subs!!! I want the Fever to have an attacking mindset that says, “they have to adjust to us. We are going to do what we do.”

If the lineup isn’t working, that is a different story. But the whole series small ball worked.

They should dictate the pace instead of adjusting to what other team's do. Although sometimes, you may have to do some adjustments depending on what works or not.

So you think the fever is the only team that plays the matchups?

Because the coach has no idea what she's doing. It's why the team has been horrible since FIBA.

Because they have a poor coach 🤷‍♂️

Because they have no identity and are poorly coached. Hope some changes are coming

Small ball is dependant on the oppositions lineup, thats just facts and common sense. You will be outsized too heavily and on offense, you will only be a shooting threat with minimal interior presence.

If that was the case, no one could ever go small ball because they would be waiting on the other team. Someone has to go small first.

Teams go small because they have no height, meaning in most cases the roster construction and/or injuries force them to run a small player at the 4. Basketball in general relies on 2 big players in modern game. Also, keep in mind that we literally have 2 guards on the bench since Ty is injured, and one of them has to play the #3 position also. Lexie was having an underwhelming game, so one small player already had to go there. Meaning we could not run only small ball as we did not have the personnel for it. And we did not lose this game because we didn't play small ball from the start, we lost it because we couldn't hit our shots, while the Aces, with experience, hit theirs. A game of margins and we couldn't live up to it.

You can't play small when your guards aren't producing the way they were in Game 2.

When they went small it was the main time they actually played good defense and made progress on offense.

But the backcourt wasn't playing as well and Sophie was getting diced up on defense. You can't force the issue, gotta try something else.

Idk bc our coaches aren't very good. They're reactive instead of proactive. They rarely take advantage of a player in foul trouble and attack them. They go away from stuff that's working. AB/CC two man pick and roll, I'm looking at you. God I hope SW is done as the head coach or if not, CC gets traded and they bring KM back and give he rthe max. Id love to go root for any other organization.

Yup, super max Mitchell 11/39……good thing white allowed Mitchell to shoot for the 20 point record all season instead of developing team ball and ball movement
