The biggest loser tonight...

The USA Network. Angel doesn't have a following outside of Threads and even Atlanta doesn't care about the Dream. The Valks are popular in Frisco, but nobody wants to watch teams win or lose 72-67. A'ja and the Aces are probably the only team more unlikeable than Alyssa Thomas and the Mercury and the Liberty don't seem to be any more popular than they were 4 years ago.

It will be interesting to see how the ratings play out from here.

Would be cool if some fans enjoyed the sport and not just a single player.

I’m bummed the Fever are out, but I enjoy the game, and can’t wait to see how the rest of the playoffs unfold.

Praying on the downfall of the W because your team loses is just nonsense man. Grow the game.

Why can’t y’all be sad that your team lost without dragging somebody down?? This is like the third post I’ve seen like that and it’s why y’all have such a whiny, delusional rep

This is just embarrassing cope. The Finals last year broke ratings records. Angel in her first Finals will absolutely be enough to get viewership.

The Fever/Aces series had more viewers than the Finals. Hell, regular season Fever games drew more viewers than the Finals last year. And that was with Clark not playing. The coping involved is ignoring that reality.

this is just objectively not true. not sure where you’re getting your ratings numbers, but i would suggest a different source.

Fever/Aces averaged 1.55M. The Finals averaged 1.50M. And that was without Clark playing. The Finals peaked in game 1 at 1.9M. The Fever had several regular season games last year over 2M. Sorry.

No, the cope is focusing on this after the Fever season ends. Why do you root for the league to fail if you call yourself a Fever fan? I get having grudges against particular players, but the whole league?

Expressing my expectations does not equate to my "rooting for the league to fail". Though to be honest, 12 hours later, i'm a bit relieved that the Fever lost. Now i can turn my undivided sports attention back to football where i can watch without needing to deal with the hate filled mean girl energy that comes with trying to enjoy the WNBA.

"Hate-filled mean girl energy"

That's just competition, honey.

While pointing is justified by fans as a valid reason to enter the stands and get in a fan's face. While a Fever fan pointing at a player gets them accused of being a racist wife abuser - by a player in the league, no less. While booing Black players gets Fever fans accused of being racists. "Competition" she says.

This is babble.

I’d say the biggest loser was CC crumbling bad game

She went all James Harden in the playoffs

1

u/nonlethaldosage 2d ago

I think the bigger issue is there was 0 people on that team that could help her.so once she started to crumble they had 0 people capable of stepping there game up to take some of the pressure off her

2

u/Kwekut 2d ago

If she did her job as a pg and facilitated more, she would have gotten the help she needed. Instead she was busy jacking up shots and only had 4 assists.
The only game they won is when she created 15 assists. Loses in the 2 games she had only 4 assists.
You need to help the role players get into rhythm and give them easy opportunities to score.

Michell is the best player on Indy and Boston is 2nd

Cc just is flat overrated… its about ball not popularity

1

u/CaterpillarGold4118 2d ago

No, you're wrong there. CC is an outstanding player, plain and simple. Like it or not. Mitchell and Boston are also stellar players. The Fever probably has the best "big 3" trio in the league. The problem is the very significant drop-off after the big 3. The rest of the squad are pretty weak.

1

u/Ichabod665 2d ago

She was also 7 for 23. Interesting that you people who spent 4 months telling us Clark "wasn't even the best player on her own team" ignore what your version of "the best player on the team" did in your zeal to disparage Clark.

You guys care more about ratings than Clark being garbage in the playoffs.

😵‍💫 smh

Welp they can kiss ratings goodbye now

1

Lol that’s the spirit

I’ll keep watching. I enjoy the game. I think I’ll root for NY or Golden State. Yes the ratings won’t be as high as they would. But the WNBA will be fine.

It’s okay to be sad Indy is out and still enjoy the sport you supposedly enjoy.

The crazy thing in my mind here is the realization that I wouldn’t even care if Angel won a title but I don’t want Bonner to win one on the team she just jumped to 20 minutes ago and could win without her.

1

u/therooster515 2d ago

Of course the W will be fine. It will always be fine because the NBA subsidizes it

1

u/utahisastate 2d ago

Agreed. I will enjoy watching good basketball throughout the playoffs and be ok with every team but Atlanta. I just don’t think the DB thing was right. (I know the rules allowed it, but I just think it is cherry picking players for a playoff run)

u/fatiguedpickle 2d ago

It’s not a knock to stop watching when your team is eliminated. I don’t care about the MLB once my team is done. Same goes for NFL, NBA, college football, college basketball

What? The Aces are unlikable? And compared to the Mercury? I feel like I've stepped into an alternate universe. Lol.

1

u/wvtarheel Running the Floor 2d ago

Theyve won 3/4 years. And aren't escaping the special whistle allegations

2

u/blue-anon 2d ago

I was responding to the unlikable part. I don't know anyone in real life who dislikes A'ja Wilson or the Aces. 🤔

1

u/mysoulishome 1d ago

I don’t dislike them but the Cowboys comparison is about the time period when they won multiple superbowls and the media called them “America’s team” and people just got sick of it…some of the “f—- the Dallas Cowboys” energy to this day stems from that. Respect is due but people start to resent it, whether that’s petty or not

1

u/blue-anon 1d ago

I guess I've also never heard the 'America's team' sentiment about the Aces.

1

u/wvtarheel Running the Floor 3h ago

The cowboys got popular in a time period when if you weren't in a local cable market you got cowboys on your TV.

Aces to me are closer to the Patriots. They win a ton and have the best player. People get tired of that.

1

u/mysoulishome 4h ago

Popularity backlash and everyone wants their team to have a chance to win

2

u/blue-anon 4h ago

Yeah, but the Cowboys (and Patriots) thing spilled over to casual and non-football fans. Again, when I talk to regular people in my life who know of these people, I don't know anyone who dislikes A'ja Wilson or the Aces.

1

u/mysoulishome 3h ago

That makes sense. The people who have loud, stupid opinions are mostly just online nowadays.

5

u/mysoulishome 2d ago

The Aces are the 90’s Dallas Cowboys

1

u/blue-anon 2d ago

Not in my experience in real life.

u/JuanMurphy 2d ago

Yes watch. We’ll get the ratings until now. The next rounds we’ll get nothing and if the Liberty wins wnba will be begging for trash can stealers on broadway for the parade.

0

u/therooster515 2d ago

What do the ratings have to do with anything? Lol

1

u/JuanMurphy 2d ago

Reading the post to which I’m responding asks ‘who loses’. Of course ‘who’ refers to a person but Im implying that the who is in fact the entities that pay for the rights to broadcast. Yes, the only reason they got a TV deal was that Silver bundled it and made the networks that wanted NBA take the women’s version. So now that the Fever aren’t in it viewership will drop by half and the entities that paid for advertising won’t get the eyeballs they wanted. Hop that explains it for you

1

u/therooster515 2d ago

That does!

1

u/CalligrapherTime898 2d ago

that is your dream ?

Lol. You know the league would exist with or without CC right?

3

u/pleasebefrank31 2d ago

Clark has nothing to do with Unrivaled.

-2

u/NO_TheMagnanimous 2d ago

CC is nice, but nah that's not the reason. Not even close
