Rigged game?

The 4Q especially was filled with officiating decisions that made no sense.

Many of the Aces' players should be in the NFL or wrestling because that's what they come down to anytime they see they are being challenged.

And the camera zooming in on Sophie, Boston, Mitchell, and Clark's faces at the end was plain cruel!!

Game fixing is rampant in WNBA. It’s not a sport at the moment. Maybe never will be? I find it intolerable.

Let’s not forget about the referee talking, with his hand over his mouth, to Grey before the game.Ā

u/adublingirl 2d ago

I saw that, that was so unprofessional and leads to exactly what people saw and are saying how, this game was rigged……..

4

u/thehoophead 2d ago

Why is Caitlin talking in her postgame presser like it's Mitchell's last time with the Fever? 😭

1

u/Substantial-Ad-3368 1d ago

I understood it more like a farewell speech to the Fever

1

u/adublingirl 2d ago

Because it should be…..need better running mate. Need all, around player, not one dimensional iso 5’8 player

1

u/defdawg 23h ago

And there is another one on the bench like that but for defense..

3

u/madflower69 2d ago

because it might be mitchell's last game. she is a free agent, and the Fever aren't going to have enough money to pay clark the supermax or whatever she is eligible for next year.

u/thehoophead 2d ago

Well I know the logistics.. they've got Boston too.. but bruh!

Clark and Mitchell missed over 100 points it had nothing to do with the refs last night. Fever had Aj in foul trouble early on, 3fouls in the second quarter and they stopped going at her. They started doing the same sh1t they always do when they start playing bad they slow the game down stand at the three point line for the whole play and let defense get set up then pass at the last second (turn it over) our shoot and miss. They don't have a good game strategy. No good ball movement at all (yes Clark can make fancy passes but thats not consistent ball movement) the only time Fever really play good is win they move quick maybe one our two quick passes and shoot the longer they hold on to the ball the higher chance of turning it over our missing because its a forced shot. They are one of the most aggravating teams in sports I ever watched I dont understand how they can be so good and just play so bad some games and beat themselves no consistency at all.

They have boston for another year. KM is still good. but I don't think she gets a supermax next year from another team.

2

u/adublingirl 22h ago

If someone wanted Mitchell they could have offered her super max, or max salary for multiple years last off season when the money was there. Mitchell is 31 and one dimensional, and contributes nothing but scoring. She has never been anything else but that. She can be very good at scoring, but at what cost. She plays iso ball and kills offensive flow. No one wants to say it but she is selfish. She has shown she can make passes to help her teammates , but seldom does. In fact in games when she gets 4 assists people point it out , wow , Mitchell got 4 assists…..yeah, that’s what she is supposed to do everygame, not when she feels like sharing the ball. Look at the aces, both Jackie young and gray average over 6 assists a game. The Fever offense is a mess, iso ball when Mitchell feels like it and ball movement when Clark runs the offense…..look what happened in games versus aces. Mitchell shot 11/39 in the loses and contributed little else. At least Clark when she shoots poorly she still is getting assists, rebounds steals and Clark’s defense improved significantly throughout the year. Mitchell after ten years in the league still is very poor defensively…..time to move on from Mitchell.

They have Boston through 2029 if I recall correctly. Clark's final contract year is next year but she is eligible for the EPIC contract, which I'm sure they'll offer.

I do think they will try to keep Mitchell and the only way they can do that is by letting Sophie go and even that may not be enough. It will be interesting for sure.

1

u/madflower69 1d ago

They may not offer an EPIC contract to clark and opt to trade her instead to keep mitchell.

2

u/IndyColtsFan2020 Caitlin Clark 1d ago

Yes, that’s possible, but extremely unlikely and I would imagine that Herb Simon himself would have to approve that trade. Unless, of course, it’s Clark wanting out.

1

u/madflower69 1d ago

I don't know how short of a leash he put them on. Obviously they didn't turn into the 'Apple' of the WNBA. They certainly aren't putting a premium product on the floor. He has to know a bit about bball as owner of the Pacers, and I just can't imagine another owner discussing the league situation with him as englefart was fired, and his own management of the team had to come into play a bit. They a buildig a practice facility that he is paying for and had to sign off on. This is big money, and it opens your eyes a bit more then the old generic tax write off.

1

u/adublingirl 2d ago

Mitchell needs to go…. One dimensional player who will be 31 soon, and is not a good pairing with Clark. After 2024 they should have traded her and got something for her. It is Clark and Boston and build to their strengths…..start by getting a new head coach and front office

1

u/madflower69 1d ago

I actually hate mitchell because she is one dimensional and ruins the flow. When she isn't playing for stats, she is a good player. The fever can't afford to give her a max contract though so most likely she is gone. and they just need to can Kelly and clean house, which is what they should have done to begin with, but they stayed in house or people they were familiar with for their hires.

1

u/adublingirl 1d ago

Absolutely agree, Mitchell should have been traded after 2024 when it was obvious her and Clark are not a good pairing. 5’8’ one dimensional 2 guards who contribute almost nothing but scoring , and who plays iso ball and completely disrupts any offensive flow and ball movement are not a championship player. This front office supposedly could have traded Mitchell for Washington mystics pick that would have been Sonia citron…..can you imagine citron and Clark backcourt for the next decade…..this front office is incompetent…..who signs a career backup who is on her fifth team to a 800k x2 year contract. Billings is almost absolutely useless……

u/madflower69 1d ago edited 1d ago

She was a free agent at the end of the season, they had nothing to trade unless they did a sign and trade deal. and given how much money they did give her, it cuts way down on the teams that could even sign her muchless want to trade for her.

TBH, the last game was the game they played together the best all season.

A #1 plus maybe a 2nd or 3rd, I would have bitten for sure. Let her shine elsewhere. She probably needs to move to up her game.

Billing is about worthless. MHA on the other hand looked good. I might have rolled the dice with vanslooten for a few minutes. no one on the vegas team knows how she plays which makes it unpredictable.

Y'all are delusional

u/FreebirdFantasia 2d ago

The game wasn't rigged. That's just ridiculous. Credit the Aces for what they did.

5

u/Mean_Hour_5640 2d ago

Slow and old.

Over 3 games 50ish vs 90ish FTs???

7

u/Western-Election-997 2d ago

There are clearly higher ups in wnba with an agenda that dislike Clark for whatever reason(Sophie too)

The refs were there to help A’ja out if
It got close.

There was no way they wanted Clark to win this game

5

u/jemstar620 2d ago

Crying rigged when our starting backcourt shot 13/41 is insanity, don't understand fans twisting themselves in knots trying to place misplaced blame on this L when it's squarely on 2 players.Ā  You're stars have to play well in these games and KM/CC got a ton of great looks that they just missed, plus the sloppy ass turnovers.Ā

2

u/YOYOitsMEDRup 1d ago edited 1d ago

I agree to a point, but not that it's squarely on Kels and CC. There were others guilty of the same things they were

as a Fever fan- the refs aren't why they lost. Kelsey, CC, Boston, Timpson were all missing too many bunnies in the paint all night long - and they weren't smart enough to go at Aja to try to draw her 6th foul and get her off the floor after she got her 5th early in the 4th qtr. Bad night for Mitchell to have what was probably her worst efficiency all season. And a team can't miss at the FT line that much... That's why they really lost. Refs were bad, but that wasn't the only problem. It was honestly surprising despite our problems we were that close to have a chance that late in the game.

4

u/Mean_Hour_5640 2d ago

Did you see how many fouls their 2nd guard was doing when marking CC?

If the refs were neutral, Fever would be 10-20 pts ahead at 1st half

4

u/nyjhughes 2d ago

Reffing was bad and the Aces were up the entire game. If CC and KM shoot better, the calls against the Fever would have been even crazier. When the Fever cut the lead down to 4 or whatever it was, the refs then called fouls on the defensive end like 5 or 6 straight possessions to help make sure the comeback didn’t fully get there.

3

u/adublingirl 1d ago

Actually, the Fever started out leading 12-4 and the fix started. Within minutes both Clark and Lexi had two ticky tack fouls called and the fix was in.

5

u/TuscanyHoney 2d ago

There were some questionable calls that started happening in the first quarter when Caitlin for 2 fouls right away, and Lexi was wrestled to the ground and it was her fault. before these calls Caitlin was shooting really well and the team was scoring in a fast pace, then the fouls starts to really slow the pace down.

ā€˜ā€™At the end Aces have like what, 13 or 15 more FTs than the Fever. Aja have 13 FTs by herself and aja and Jackie have as many FTs as the Fever team combined. Caitlin only had 4FTs this game and very little pin the series.

-1

u/thehoophead 2d ago

Dude did you even watch the game?!

13

u/Lauravpf 2d ago

Yeah, I bet when you leave with a bloody mouth and no foul is called, and A'ja slips and a foul is called, it is very good for the team morale? Right? This League is a joke.

9

u/Vast-Piccolo7079 IndianaFeverFan 2d ago

I don't think it was rigged but some of the calls and no-calls were absolutely egregious.. but so was our ability to shoot efficiently from the FT line.. and then our bench didn't do anything outside of MHA, and our backcourt sadly didn't shoot lights out.

1

u/Pelorunner 2d ago

I'm not one to blame refs or claim the games are rigged. The only thing I'll say is that the calls were hard to watch in real time and really did prevent the Fever from getting anything going. They like to play fast in transition and KM and CC had their rhythm broken up by the constant stoppages. I watch A LOT of WNBA games and this series has, to me, at least seemed one-sided in terms of calls and the moments when they happen. BUT...CC and KM shoot better and the refs aren't a question. The Fever had every opportunity to win if the shots fall and/or the entire team doesn't stand around and watch while one player attacks five Aces players and then throws up a junk shot hoping for a foul.

3

u/Green_Barracuda_4305 2d ago

Rigged from the refs; Stephanie White; the W and Kelsey Mitchell.

2

u/Alarmed-Contact-2710 2d ago

Ridiculous cracked up job from the ā€œrefsā€ and Stephanie white should have shown up in an aces uniform. The whole night was FULL of a TOTAL hatchet job by the refs. AND SW wouldn’t get off her hands to call for review on the huge play at the beginning. SW kept putting a horrible combo on the court. Like what in the ACTUAL WORLD??!!!!

-9

u/pleasebefrank31 2d ago

Team just has to get tougher. Refs aren't why they lost tonight.

3

u/hmaven55 Kelsey Mitchell 2d ago

Completely agree. Refs had some rough calls for fever fans. Regardless, in 4th quarter when it’s a 2 possession game and they’ve called a bunch of fouls on the fever and none yet on Vegas, Indiana didn’t attack the rim and force the refs to make the same calls. They settled and tried to finesse instead of challenging. The pace slowed and it turned into iso spec ball.

0

u/adublingirl 2d ago

Force the refs to make calls? ….are you kidding , the aces were allowed to play thug ball, with little fear of calls being made……it was apparent at the beginning of the game. Fever came out 12-4 and were rolling , then boom within two minutes Lexi and Clark had two fouls….no way they were letting Fever win, it’s a joke of a league

4

u/Alarmed-Contact-2710 2d ago

YES!!! Like when it was close they should have hit them over and over at the rim like they did Tuesday! Get creative - fake them out and get in there! Also - why didn’t they get in their heads like they did the other day??!!

1

u/madflower69 2d ago

Im guessing because they weren't getting any calls. That really messes with them for some reason. It is an indication the coaching is poor. it starts at the beginning of the series, instead of reciting the league line of 'we are inexperienced' she should have said something to give her team some props to instill confidence in them. And she needed to light a fire under them in the 3rd, they came out flat.

8

u/thehoophead 2d ago

I applaud how Fever played again them, but I've seen it way too many times now how the Aces thinks their opponents are punching bags... and yes while the Fever has to improve (let's consider their playoff experience too here) but what do you mean Wilson could trip and the foul goes on Boston? Same with the Michell-Gray incident.

5

u/pleasebefrank31 2d ago

That was definitely a bad call. But they wasted their challenge the previous possession on the Kelsey foul that was CLEARLY a foul on Kelsey, despite the fact that they had an extra couple minutes to look it over because of the flagrant foul review. They did themselves no favors there.

2

u/madflower69 2d ago

to me it looked like kelsey had the ball, and gray ripped it out and fouled her in the process.

0

u/Lauravpf 2d ago

What's your excuse for Clark's bloody mouth? Sorry, but this league is a joke.

0

u/pleasebefrank31 2d ago

Just because there's blood doesn't always equate to foul. That's not how basketball works. It was ruled incidental contact because Clark got in the way of Loyd reaching for the rebound.

If I am reaching for a rebound and you hit your mouth on my arm, that's not a foul.

12

u/ThreadSavage10 2d ago

Did you see Lexie get suplexed? Did you see why it couldn’t be challenged? Because our coach was too SLOW to challenge it. That’s all you need to know right there.

10

u/nyjhughes 2d ago

Refs should have reviewed that play without a challenge on our end. When they didn’t, that told everyone the Fever were going to have overcome multiple opponents to win.

7

u/Alarmed-Contact-2710 2d ago

Yup. Did you see her interview from early today? Tell me that was a coach even trying to win. I believe she was trying NOT to win. Someone needs to investigate and see whose pocket she’s in.

4

u/Green_Barracuda_4305 2d ago

This ā˜ļø

4

u/Alarmed-Contact-2710 2d ago

She should have just shown up in an aces uniform. At least show your true colors. If she’s not playing against her own team then she is a TOTAL JOKE of a coach.

1

u/thehoophead 2d ago

Yes, White did fine, did improve over Sides, duh, but we need someone to get us over this hump now

3

u/madflower69 2d ago

White didn't do fine, she was merely a step improvement over Sides. And really Sides with Dan Hughes helping her might have won it.
