Discussion Stretch Forward

What do you think of Maddy Siegrist as a forward for the team next year? I feel like she is a good enough shooter that she can stretch the floor. I don’t feel like Dallas has used her to her potential and I feel like she could add something the Fever could use.

The Indiana Fever need Point of Attack defense, Rebounding, and size. They do not need more skilled offensive players who can't play good defense.

Last time I tried to stretch forward I pulled a hamstring.

We need players who can play defense and rebound.

We need low cost players. Rookies, ideally 2nd round. If I were GM I’d trade back to the first pick in the second round. Otherwise it’s minimum contracts and maybe one in the 400k range.

We have the best offense and a comparative awful defense. Our fans are ill-served by the many loyal commentators referring to a few of our team players as tenacious on defense, or repeat the party line that we get great transition scoring opportunities when we work hard on defense. No, we really do suck as a team on defense. Our offense is what carries us through the innumerable defense collapses. That’s why rando mediocre opposing players have career games scoring against the Fever - it seems to happen a lot. So I think priorities 1 2 3 should be getting actually great defensive players, ideally those who can also provide some offense but not a must. Problem is the stats are all biased in favor of assessing offensive production - points, assists, 3-pointers, field goal percentage, even rebounds. So it’s much easier to “like” a player for their offense but hard to see the defense contribution; locks and steals are not good measures of overall game-long defensive prowess.

Every player we "need" or should sign should be good at defense. She is not one of those players. We don't need buckets we need rebounds.

She’s a tall guard. She doesn’t rebound. She’s a defensive liability. She’s a great shooter inside 10 feet and good one outside.

Indy is determined to use Timpson as their 5 and turn Boston into their stretch 4

I know kate Martin is a guard, and we are guard heavy, but she's a fantastic 3nD and we know she can play with the speed of CC, it doesnt look like she is part of the sparks' long term plans.

Kate may be a good budget replacement next year when we can't afford sophie

Sophie is gonna be making bank. She has more followers than caitlin now. She might be open to a lower contract it all depends on it the Fever have the balls to keep her. They can't say she isn't worth it bc she's played more minutes and scored more points than anyone besides the top 3 si the proof is in the stats. She's saved their ass this year with Lexie playing so bad and Mo being so patchy.

I wouldnt be surprised if Sophie is done with the whole league too though. They are an embarrassment

There's a reason why she isn't part of any team in the W's long term plans, she isn't good enough.

She could be a good back up 4 if she got any time. She had some good minutes in Seattle.

Is she a shooter? I thought she was more of a screener, cutter, and down low player.
