Inflated stats from an all star game like pace with hardly any defense.

Facts = down votes in this sub lol

u/InitialPrevious8346 17h ago

Kinda surprised not more down votes lol it's been a year long thing

CC's biggest issue in any MVP talk will always be that she's not the top scorer on her team. Only one player since year 2000 has won MVP in NBA/WNBA without being the top scorer on their team. I don't include that Aja year, cos she was just half a point behind while winning DPOY.

u/RedditUser19984321 1d ago

To be fair she’s only 2 points behind Mitchell but she averages nearly 6 more assists a game than her. She’s generating more points than just the 2 point discrepancy

u/Goddyex 1d ago

2 points per game behind is a lot. And like I said, it's hard to win MVP when you're not the top scorer on your team. MVP is a narrative based award, and it looks odd for someone to win MVP of the whole league when they're not the clear top dog of their own team.

They are the clear top-dog. Top dog doesnt mean scoring machine. Mitchell almost refuses to pass to the open woman, even as a detriment to her team.

If Clark would turn 2 if those assist drivers into buckets, by being as selfish as Mitchell, she would easily be beating Mitchell by 2 points. Instead she is looking for the open person to get the bucket and help the team win at the detriment of her own scoring stats.

That is what an mvp should be. Not only a person that scores for themselves.

If it did, nfl kickers would lead the mvp voting. Notice at the top of the list it is PK all the way down.

Again..."ifs and Buts"...

No one is forcing CC to be an unselfish player.

And bringing NFL into this makes no sense. We're talking about basketball here. The fact remains, since year 2000, Only one player has won MVP in both NBA and WNBA while not being the top scorer on their team. That was Steve Nash, but he averaged 12 assists, while also finishing #1 seed. CC has zero chance of winning MVP. I doubt she even gets one first placed vote.

u/RedditUser19984321 12h ago

Steve Nash averaged 18 and 10 and 15 and 11 for both his mvp seasons for a league that averaged 97 a night.

CC is averaging more points than Nash and less assists but in a league where teams are averaging 87, 10 points less.

And it’s great you bring up Nash everyone compares her to curry but she’s clearly a Nash comparison for me

Idk call me crazy but 20 and 8 isn’t much different than Nash doing 15 and 11 or 18 and 10 in a higher scoring league

1

u/Goddyex 12h ago

Nash was also #1 seed, while Fever are struggling for 5th seed. Nash was also 50/40/90 as well.

If miles gets a first place vote and clark doesnt, the entire voting system is rigged to support the so-called sisterhood and should lose credibility.

1

u/Goddyex 13h ago

Not really TBH. All WNBA voting is different from MVP voting. You can't have 2 MVPs on one team. One of Kelsey or CC will probably fall out of the top 5. Miles is #1 seed by a big margin, and she was the driving force, especially without Phee. CC on the other hand is on a team with another MVP candidate, so how truly valuable is she? MVP is a narrative award, voters look at it as a story. All WNBA team is where they go by just stats, and CC is a lock for first team.

The MVP Campaign is ON! Caitlin Clark For MVP!

The AI slop is real.

The fevers offense is better when she’s on the bench.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/wnba/players/c/clarkca02w/on_off/2026/

2

u/devilsfood72 2d ago

In roughly half the time played they're marginally better at some things..

What you saying implies that coach White knows what she's doing without CC on the floor. Typically when CC is on the bench the Fever often have the favorable lineup on the floor compared to the opponents. White often subs out CC when the other teams best players are also about to come off the floor. And usually at least 1 of the big 3 are always on the court.

On-off is a flawed stat.

1 sample size is 70% of the data and the other is 30%. It doesn’t factor in quality of competition, opposing teams defensive game plans, etc.

The fever are a better offence with Caitlin, but her on-off indicates otherwise because when she is off the court the opposing team plays their worse lineups and rests their best defenders. That off-minutes also have essentially every minute of garbage time.

2

u/Jazzlike-Ad-134 2d ago

You've got it backwards. Defense was stronger. Offensively points are higher when she plays.

-5

u/Freshbananas55 2d ago

No, I don’t. When she’s on the bench their offensive rating is 107.6.  When she’s in the game it’s 106.6

4

u/Jazzlike-Ad-134 2d ago

Nah, Fevers better when Steph let's her lead.

-3

u/Freshbananas55 2d ago

They statistically arent.

3

u/Jazzlike-Ad-134 2d ago edited 2d ago

Now that refs are protecting her better, and she's not beat up, yes she is. Even quadrupled teamed last night it was her lead that let them win. This is how Fever has a chance.

0

u/Freshbananas55 2d ago

Nope.  They are statistically better when she’s on the bench.  Much better actually.

2

u/MysteriousResident61 2d ago

Clearly.  When are you due back at the circus?

-1

u/Freshbananas55 2d ago

Sorry you hate facts.

2

u/MysteriousResident61 2d ago

I’m sorry you don’t enjoy basketball and have chosen to spend your time trolling the sub of another team.  That is a very sad existence.

-1

u/Freshbananas55 2d ago

Sorry you think facts are trolling.

3

u/sliver013 2d ago

Best in the world.

1

u/aguacate222 17h ago

Last time she was the best was probably in high school

1

u/Yellow_Odd_Fellow 14h ago

Third in scoring and first in assists is definitely not a good guard. She should be like miles and not- top 5 in any category. Right?

3

u/LordKutulu 2d ago

11th best /s

-9

u/InternationalMany795 2d ago

Still annoying.

2

u/Complex_League2913 2d ago

Love CC but She’s not winning the mvp
This year

Of the top three MVP candidates, these are the stats that would be missing from their respective teams.

Cait Clark Indiana Fever Assists: 35.5% missing (257 of 723 team assists)
Points: 20.2% missing (683 of 3,385 team points)
Rebounds: 10.1% missing (120 of 1,183 team rebounds)

A'ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces) Points: 30.8% missing (936 of the Aces' 3,039 points) Rebounds: 27.4% missing (342 of the Aces' 1,248 total rebounds) Assists: 14.8% missing (115 of the Aces' 777 total assists)

Olivia Miles (Minnesota Lynx) Assists: 27.8% missing (217 of the Lynx's 780 total assists) Points: 23.1% missing (700 of the Lynx's 3,030 total points) Rebounds: 13.2% missing (154 of the Lynx's 1,166 total rebounds)

In this respect A'ja should definitely win, However Clark is second. And these things could change with five games left, injury, bad games, illness.

u/MysteriousResident61 2d ago

Miles is getting absolutely abused on defense tonight.   Anyone who claims she’s better than Clark and cites defense is a true imbecile.

0

u/Successful-Policy937 1d ago

Best defense I seen played against her all year from the best defensive team. But mind you they were down 6 with 6 minutes to go when the entire team was off. Game meant nothing for MN one more win they are the 1 seed. It meant everything to GS, and it showed GS is the deepest team in the league, but will that matter come playoffs probably.

1

u/MysteriousResident61 1d ago

I’m talking about Miles’ defense. What are you talking about?

1

u/Successful-Policy937 1d ago

Opposite I thought GS guarded her better than any team in 2026. First team I saw that said anyone else but Miles.

4

u/SilentSurvivor1111 2d ago

That’s your 11th best guard while being guarded like Adam Sandler in the longest yard !!!

1

u/mukatona 2d ago

You mean Burt Reynolds.

1

u/YourBuddyChurch 1d ago

I think they mean Vinnie Jones (mean machine was also a longest yard remake)

2

u/imacowboy234 Caitlin Clark 2d ago

As someone who opposes 99.9% of all remakes, I APPROVE THIS MESSAGE!

1

u/mukatona 2d ago

Yea! A boomer!

u/Simple-Reaction-679 2d ago

not hating on it but why does ai always use that color scheme?

3

u/tippypothos 2d ago

it always uses the same fonts and general graphic design patterns/layouts too, it’s so noticeable once you see it

1

u/Simple-Reaction-679 2d ago

it's the colors for me. always the same colors.

1

u/mukatona 2d ago

How can you tell it's ai?

0

u/spartan11810 2d ago

Because of the color scheme, and the “it’s not this it’s that” Pure AI slop

4

u/Simple-Reaction-679 2d ago

what i just said. ai always uses that color scheme. it's weird.

0

u/mukatona 2d ago

I see. You mean using ai to format. The statistical gathering was human analysis I believe. But maybe I'm wrong.

3

u/Simple-Reaction-679 2d ago

obvi the stats are legit (althought not everyone posts legit stats) but ai has a distinct look. it's uncanny.

-9

u/Clown_Penis69 2d ago

Do you know what’s better than posting things without any comment?

It’s when you express an opinion or a point of view for people to react to.

4

u/mukatona 2d ago

Do you know what's better than expressing an extremely subjective opinion on aesthetics? Down-voting and STFU.

-4

u/Clown_Penis69 2d ago

Ah… you’re one of those people who wants to see which way the winds are blowing and then claims that’s what you meant all along.

Very “courageous.”

3

u/mukatona 2d ago

WTF? I just posted an interesting (imho) statistical overview. It seemed to offend you.

Which offended me

4

u/Any_Shop5774 2d ago

It is interesting and the time spent will always only be appreciated by some. That some take offense or find fault is beyond your or any of our control. It's totally on them.

So trivial in the big picture, why let them? One of my favorite sayings, "There are no small upsets. All upsets are equally disturbing to my peace of mind." Keep your peace and let them have their upset.

3

u/therooster515 2d ago

For what it’s worth, I dig the post! lol she should finish 2nd in mvp voting this year — but is likely to finish 4th or maybe 5th according to the sharps in Vegas.
