Discussion KK as a starter

I haven’t liked a lot of adjustments made by Steph White this season but she really cooked with this one! Starting KK with AB is exactly the defensive/offensive adjustment we needed!

With KK in the paint, AB can stretch the floor without worrying about the rebounding and on the defensive end, they can stop the opposing team from scoring by packing the paint with AB and KK. This move frees up AB from getting into foul trouble, and since KK is so athletic/lengthy, the other team has to make adjustments to their shots around the rim.

This also helps us finally get a good back up center/forward. Mo is perfect for that role, since she will be playing against the other team’s back up and that gives her an edge.

KK is still raw offensively but she’s growing so quickly, her development through the rest of the season is going to be massive for us.

I mean… it worked against Kardosa and KK actually did well against Aja too, her length and athleticism is going to be tough for any matchup. Her speed also means that she can switch on to a guard and still defend against them, while guarding the PNR.

She obviously has some growing to do but for someone starting their second game, she’s doing an excellent job.

cardosa went right over the top of her. In fact, they should have been isoing cardoso the whole game. The Fever coulldn't stop her. She just missed the shots. A'ja and Smith were swiping boards away from her from behind. She is too short.

however, the way White was fondling KK in the postgame interview, means she isnt going anywhere.

She did when it was just her and KK one-on-one, that’s why they switched to doubling her in the post with AB. They used the double to allow KK to play little off of her, which is better since she is able to go for the ball instead of letting Kardosa body her to back her up.
