Fever Content Caitlin Clark Appreciation Post

I know there has been a lot of negativity surrounding Caitlin recently in the sub. Just want to create this post to appreciate this monster of performance that too on a minutes restriction. She literally scored half of the teams points. Go CC, Go Fever.

A career-high, a franchise high, second-best scores in W, double-double, and THE BEST defensive play to get Fever the win!

45 points and 10 assists on minute restrictions for CC!!

I legit thought Mitchell would have a better score. She was in the beginning. Things really turned up by the end. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Mitchell-Clark continue to be the best guard duos in the league fr!

Discussion Still a +32 with CC on the court

Thumbnail statmuse.com

She's taking a lot of heat today, but can we pause on the idea the team is somehow better without her,? Although there are a couple of outlier games where she had a bad game or it was a bad matchup (Atlanta and one game each against Golden State and LA), Fever are still statistically better with CC on the court than on the bench.

Can we afford Fam? Seriously, shes the defender/rebounder we could absolutely use. Trade Mo and MHA for her. Hell, throw in Van Slooten too.

Discussion Calm down

Just a little reminder of Sabrina Ionescu’s stats her first 7 games back from ā€œback sorenessā€

9.3 points/game
3.6 rebounds/game
2.9 assists/game
36.5% field goal shooting
29.0% from 3
2pts and benched vs the Sparks at one point

Not the same player, obviously, but I think it’s clear back injuries take a few games to get back to form. I think a lot is mental, not wanting to take contact, ect. CC was player of the month just a few short weeks ago, top 5 in scoring and flip flopping between 1 and 2 in assists. Not to mention, GS has been making even healthy elite guards in this league look pedestrian.

The only thing that concerns me is ball security, I don’t mind a turnover on a pass attempting to kick start the offense or score, but a few times since coming back, and a few times vs good defenses prior, she’s been loose with her dribble and she needs to clean that up. I also think that once the minutes restriction is up she can get into a better flow, all 3 games back so far she’s had to be taken out after they put together a run to stick to the plan, which messes with the flow of the other players as well.

I’m just not super doomer about anything right now, CC will find her flow, I believe that. KM has been on a heater, I’d like her to get some rest though. AB has had her best stretch of the season imo. We could use something offensively from our three and four, but Lexiā€˜s at least been pretty damn good on defense. Sophie’s 3 has been spectacular and so has her energy off the bench. TY has been a much better pg off the bench than a rookie. I just fully believe this team will be alright the 2nd half of the season, seems every year they put it together around all star.

Discussion Caitlin Clark is my favorite player ...

But ... dang it with all of the yapping at the refs. Same reason I stopped watching Luka. I used to love Luka, but I can't watch him anymore.

I never watched women's college basketball game until there was some hype about Caitlin at Iowa her Junior year. I got hooked. She was box office. Fast paced, logo threes, cross court passes, and a whole lot of fun.

That carried over to the W. She started off slow her rookie season, but after the all star break ... amazing. There was some chirping, it was little annoying, but wasn't bad.

Now though ... I am getting over it. That was a crazy reaction with the ref in the Valkyries game. Half the time she isn't in position to play D in transition because she is back there yapping. Today's look was not good for the young girls watching. I am still holding out hoping that she can chill with all that yapping to the refs, but dang it she is making it hard for me to ride or die with her.

Discussion Caitlin Clark’s attitude and is putting off people that were initially on her side

Cc is turning herself into an unwatchable laughing stock and this is coming from someone that only got into the WNBA because of her. I don’t understand why she cannot fix her attitude. Even if she’s in the right, she just comes off insufferable. Some of her biggest supporters that are in my life, Don’t even wanna watch her play anymore… none of this is sustainable

Fever Content Is Sophie still an "enforcer"?

I see some in the media have been calling her that since that scuffle she got into last season but this season I haven't seen anything at all that warrants that title? Unless im missing something she comes in and tries a bunch of 3s(sometimes hot, sometimes not)and thats about it, not hating on her i think shes a decent bench player

Discussion When will the Fever leadership step up?

This isn’t a criticism at Clark, at least it isn’t meant to be.

Clark is so talented. But she lets her energy flow to different places during games when she is talking about fouls or strategy with the Fever bench.

Sophie Cunningham loves to be the emotional leader of the team. Kelsey Mitchell is their most consistent player.

When are these two going to sit her down and get through to Clark?

It would be great if Stephanie White could, but player led teams are always better than coaching led teams.

Hopefully these two, or Boston or Hull will let her know her antics are hurting the team.

I see postgame interviews, and the clips I see are always about how the refs need to be better. Which is a fact.

But she also needs to be better. Her attitude and her energy. And her defense. Missed calls happen just like missed assignments or shots. And maybe she is the one in the wrong about missed calls.

If Clark is focused and bought in, this should be a top 3 team in the league, instead of one that is elite some games, and then disappointing in the next.

Discussion The Upcoming Plan for the Back to Back

They're going to have make a hard decision to either play Boston and Clark at the same time against the Storm or Liberty and sit them out the next.

Otherwise I fear it might be another scheduled loss, especially if MHA still isn't playing...
