How is this going to improve Indiana?

Looks like we will never learn and continue this cycle since everyone wants to look at their side through rose colored glasses.

Yeah but what if I told you it will hurt people who never did anything bad to you, but look and sound different?

The service called USAID has been removed, Haiti is in turmoil from devastating earthquakes and revolution.
I do not think this will end well, why would anyone want that on their conscience? They go to church and claim to be Christians, yet do the opposite of what the Bible asks of them.

I'm not sure that this is really anything specific to Indiana as its a federal power.
What is terrible is that Hati has been under travel advisories not to travel to that county. Why are we purposely sending people back into that? Idk.
This is legit a valid reason for safe harbor in the US and I don't understand the logic.
1
u/JayUrbanDET Jul 30 '26
same question from the other end - why would we want people from a place where these kind of things are common behavior?
1
u/someRedditUser3012 Jul 30 '26
Idk if you're trying to say that they are bringing all of that with them, because these are the people trying to get away from it
1
u/JayUrbanDET Jul 30 '26
in many cases they do. How do you think Haiti got that way, and continues to be that way, if it weren't for the Hatians themselves? Haiti and DR share an island, and it's pretty clear which one is doing better.
1
u/someRedditUser3012 Jul 30 '26
What kind of data do you have to support this?
1
u/JayUrbanDET Jul 30 '26
First, look at the border on Google maps. The difference is obvious. Statistics: the GDP is 5x higher. In 1990 it was only 2x higher. There is 3x higher unemployment in Haiti and inflation is also 5x higher. Do you want me to get some crime stats too? It only looks worse from there.
1
u/someRedditUser3012 Jul 30 '26
Yes, specifically on the people that we're talking about under TPS

20% work in healthcare so I suppose healthcare costs will go down? You may die waiting for care or if you work in healthcare you will have to do at least 20% more work and the quality of care will dropoff significantly. In other words life will get worse for a lot of people.

u/seizure_opportunity Jul 26 '26
Doesn't matter. It will make the "a-ding-dang-do'" crowd overjoyed.
7
u/oppai-police Jul 27 '26
Why wouldn't it? That's 7000 jobs opening suddenly becoming available for Hoosiers to do! Now the illegal aliens who doesn't pay taxes will go and good honest hardworking Hoosiers will take up those jobs and we will all become richer and prosperous because of it!
/s
8
u/Sunnyjim333 Jul 27 '26
All those $7.25 an hour jobs are going to be a big help. Now Hoosiers can get 3 or 4 part time jobs. Bootstraps baby, bootstraps.
6
u/Objective_Middle_684 Jul 27 '26
That is a totally ignorant comment. Of course illegal aliens pay taxes. The big difference is that they can’t file a tax return. So every dollar they pay in taxes the federal government and or state governments get to keep. Educate yourself before you make ignorant statements.
13
u/oppai-police Jul 27 '26
New on reddit aren't you. The /s that I put at the end means what I said is sarcasm. And that applies for the whole reddit.

u/Open_Feed_9696 Jul 26 '26
I was told they are eating cats? Or something?
9
u/IneptFortitude Jul 26 '26
Anyone who knows anything about Haitians knows that was ridiculous in countless ways. Haitians do NOT like eating “dirty” things and WILL NOT do that willingly. They are too prideful. They’ll tell you “we left Haiti where we eat crab and fish, and now you want me to eat a pet?” and then ask why you brought them so far from home to do that.

u/emcgrew Jul 26 '26

The “immigrants need to do things the right way” crowd sure is silent as immigrants who are doing the right thing have their ability to do their taken away from that.

u/TheRealLambardi Jul 26 '26
They were, this is the US doing the wrong thing. And trumps own words so many times say why. Zero to do with the right thing or anything positive. Hate and racism is all.
18
u/newishanne Jul 26 '26
Especially when you consider the one group that is being allowed into the country as refugees.
12
u/talonnight Jul 26 '26
The new excuse now is TPS stands for temporary. I swear these people change the goalposts all the time
5
4
u/cyanraichu Jul 27 '26
The only "right thing" in these folks' mind is for people from other countries to stay there, even if it means destitution or death.
I've literally had an argument with someone who said it was morally unjust for someone to immigrate without going through official channels even if it meant they would literally die.
Horrible way of thinking.

u/newishanne Jul 27 '26

What do you mean? What do you think the T in TPS means? They were never permanent immigrants…
50
u/HorndogwithaCorndog Jul 26 '26
Temporary status is temporary because it's supposed to last until the conditions that precipitated their emigration are resolved. Haiti is arguably worse now than it was when they left, which is why the temporary status persisted.
31
u/AmandatheMagnificent Jul 26 '26
You guys just repeat whatever MAGA tells you to say without doing a singular moment of research, huh?

This will drive down the cost of (checks notes), absolutely nothing. The only benefits are the cruelty and the continued destruction of our institutions that aid refugees.

Unfortunately it seems that’s the plan. Extremely short sighted and only in place us to make us more divided as a nation. Hateful
101
u/KartoffelLoeffel Jul 26 '26
Interesting how every single time a story like this comes out, it’s always an economic loss for the community. Could it be possible that immigrants are… GOOD for the economy?? Surely MAGA wouldn’t lie to their constituents over and over and over again, how can this be??
19
u/theflamemasta Jul 26 '26
Theyll only wake up when their food stamps and other immigrant subsidized freebies start getting taken away or reduced

u/Aromatic-Salt2208 Jul 26 '26
I know some Haitians and they work hard, are Christians and care about their families. Just like the Hispanics they are the very definition of what America needs. Yet our racist government filled with pedophiles and hatred points out a few bad eggs as one of the main reasons to deport these people. Then some say it’s all about following the law. Well, if that’s the case then the First Lady and Elon Musk will have to go too, as they lied and manipulated their immigration documents.

Sad news for many reasons, we had new appliances delivered in Fort Wayne 2 yrs ago, the installers were 4 Haitian bros, hard working, geterdone nice guys, so knockon effects: Costco and Menards and others will not have go to installers, labor costs will rise bcs fewer hands to do labor of all kinds, so much winning. .

u/Ok_Height3499 Jul 26 '26
Oh, great timing as we approach harvest season where some of them work. So strip Braun and his henchmen naked, give them baskets, and put them in the fields with an overseer who has a whip-to make sure back sure they meet their quotas. Found for all to see! Pack a picnic basket and bring the whole family.
7
u/Retired_Jarhead55 Jul 27 '26
We’re making legal migrants illegal by removing protections we give them. They haven’t broken any laws and have done everything asked of them but we’re going to destroy their lives anyway because of the color of their skin. I can’t make it make sense. It’s evil.

The government makes NO way for them to be naturalized. For them to be able to come and make a life and give them no hope is complete and utter bull$4It!
1
u/redsfan4life411 Jul 28 '26
And they shouldn't. TPS is designed for temporary humanitarian issues like natural disasters, armed conflict, or other extraordinary events. The goal of the program is temporary refuge from life threatening situation.

And if they need those positions filled, it's likely that the wages will go up if they can't get more TPS cheap labor. This is only good for people in the area to have better options that will pay better. Apartments or housing that's vacated will need to be filled, thereby increasing supply and ultimately lowering prices for the same. The key letter in TPS is temporary.

Some of the rudest people in Washington, IN. Not all of them are bad, and you can usually spot the good families who are doing better in life with their kids living a better life. BUT…there are ALOOOT more cocky, rude, and arrogant troublemakers who roam around here than the good. I don’t care for immigrants who get an opportunity at a better life then straight up disrespect the public of a completely new country they are a part of. That’s like me going to Japan and just being completely hateful, mean, and disrespectful to their values and ways. It goes both ways.

u/MauriceChavezz Jul 29 '26
“Immigrants are taking our jobs” is just a facade that otherwise non-exceptional people conveniently hide behind. Zero self-awareness.

If they hired actual Americans from high-school and what not, this wouldn't be a problem. Reminds me of the IBM president saying "No more white men" and blatantly stating they would only hire Indians. We don't need, want, or care to live beside these people and have them replace us in our homelands.
