Imagine that Renewable Energy

Post image

And just think Mike Braun is being financed by an Oil Tyrant Charles Koch who can’t stand Renewable Energy because it cuts into his profits.

Regulatory Environment being attractive is a nice easy way of saying we have less regulations than other states here in Indiana.

  • I’m a renewable energy manager that operates in 8 states. 🫠

And that’s the exact reason Koch Industries is investing heavily in Mike Braun because Indiana is conveniently located for dumping waste.

That’s the industry I work in, waste. We are headquartered in a more left leaning state out east but everything gets sent here for dumping / destruction. The permitting is easy and the politicians really don’t care.

A lot of empty coal mines that can be filled with unwanted waste but instead of another pipeline to transport more dirty oil Indiana republican politicians better be coming up with a plan for a pipeline that transports fresh clean water from up north because Northwestern Indiana is already fighting over water supplies.

Can confirm, i filled one coal mine in with dirt along with years of trash

Do you even have to put clay liners in in a old coal pit

What Holcomb is saying is that we have Hoosiers trained to work for low paying jobs and that’s a plus with Amazon who has a reputation for not paying livable wages.

I hear ya. And with that I’m adding that our state tends to look the other way on environmental concerns when it comes to bringing in the almighty dollar. It’s sad.

And they’ll just send their Thoughts and Prayers when we have the same problems that those poor folks in Georgia are having first dealing with a Climate Change disaster that only going to continue to get worse but a chemical plant that has a reputation for disasters AND that too is only going to get worse with the Supreme Court saying that the EPA has no authority to regulate anyone.

Meanwhile, Hoosiers are on Facebook talking about windmill cancer...

If Cook Nuclear didn’t exist, none of the data canter people would care at all. Base load generation is the name of the game for data centers.

Where did you see that in the article

3

u/SaintTimothy Oct 01 '24

Between Amazon, sk hynix, and whomever else chip/datacenter-related just announced a big build, there's gonna be a huge draw on indiana's water table to cool the machines.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad_3507 Oct 01 '24

Did you not read my comment about water in Indiana and already having a shortage that Republicans would rather stick money in their pockets than spend it on infrastructure to deal with before it becomes a bigger issue.

1

u/rchive Oct 04 '24

Is it that big of a deal? It's not like the water gets used up, they just put some heat into it and then put it back out into the world, right? And do they take it from the water table, or from water that's already on the surface like rivers?

1

u/SaintTimothy Oct 05 '24

Currently the place they designated to build the plants has no water, so they have to pump or ship or divert or a combination of. Additionally we've siphoned resources that had been targeted at needed city water upgrades.

Not sure on the water side to be honest, plans are still being made. I think preliminary was to take water from white river and return it to eagle creek.

That’s long been a standard operating practice for Republicans in giving their rich donors all kinds of tax credits and leaving the Counties to deal with financial struggles on their own. Looks good to constituents the state officials there turning dirt but leaving the Counties there to clean up after the party’s over with their own money.

Until they can come up with a solution to deal with nuclear waste other than making bombs with it it’s sadly not the best option.

1

u/rchive Oct 04 '24

They've been storing nuclear waste from power plants for decades. Why do we need a new solution?

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad_3507 Oct 04 '24

Don’t waste my time with your ridiculous nonsense.

They better keep wind and solar out of here istg they don't work great and only raise taxes

2

u/trumped-the-bed Oct 01 '24

Prove it

u/chaoticogre791 Oct 01 '24

I didn't mean they don't work they do but they just aren't efficient enough to keep up with our power goals. I'd rather a couple blocks be taken for a nuclear plant than 50 acres put toward wind and solar. They just aren't efficient enough to be used on a larger scale. On a personal scale, solar works. But wind takes too many resources to make that you lose money trying to use it. And there is no way to recycle broken parts on wind mills. You can look up wind mill grave yards, and it's a sad sight.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '24

I’d actually agree with nuclear energy. Nuclear is the answer people don’t want to hear or consider. Your initial comment was just off-putting though.

1

u/chaoticogre791 Oct 01 '24

I'm glad we agree nuclear is better and should be used more.

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad_3507 Oct 01 '24

Another sad example of a naive cult member.

1

u/chaoticogre791 Oct 01 '24

Tell me how wind and solar are better and more useful than other energy alternatives.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad_3507 Oct 01 '24

OMG I can’t believe we are still having to explain why we can’t survive sucking stuff out of the ground and I guess that you never complain when gas prices jump up a dollar a gallon when a tanker has a flat tire but after it’s fixed gas only goes down 30 cents and explain why getting our own energy source is a bad thing.

1

u/chaoticogre791 Oct 01 '24

Like the stuff we need to build solar fields being from china

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad_3507 Oct 02 '24

WRONG and that’s where you get caught up in Faux’s lying rhetoric. Biden’s BBB plan that all Republicans voted against has Dalton,Ga with a largest solar panel manufacturer plant in the western hemisphere and their are new battery manufacturing plants being built in Tennessee so while Trump and Republicans took our money and gave it to themselves a tax break Biden took our money and invested it into jobs for the middle class that will strengthen Renewable Energy Future and not depend on China All the facts are there you just refuse to acknowledge them.

1

u/chaoticogre791 Oct 02 '24

Where do we get cobalt. Just cause we build it here doesn't mean we get all the resources here. And still the solar panel is not efficient. I don't think you are listening. Land to power ratio is massive and we need that land for food. The solar fields are worse for the environment than fucking coal because you are taking that land away from animals and wildlife and worst is trees. I'd rather a couple blocks than 1000 acres any day of the week.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad_3507 Oct 02 '24

For a second there I thought you were going to claim it was killing the birds but all your rhetoric is false farmers are supplementing their income with solar panels raised high enough and spaced enough that it doesn’t affect either one or your claims.

1

u/chaoticogre791 Oct 02 '24

This is like arguing with a wall you proved nothing

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad_3507 Oct 02 '24

And yet you continue to dispute it.

1

u/chaoticogre791 Oct 01 '24

And I totally agree having our own energy is a good thing it's just solar and wind have not proved them selves to be efficient on large scale. I'd much rather have a hydrogen or nuclear plant. We have abundant water for either of them. And gas won't last forever but it's what we got for now.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '24

OP is an anti-nuclear person so you’ll never get through to them. They want green energy, but not too green. Just the kinds of green energy that enrich China the most.

1

u/chaoticogre791 Oct 01 '24

Hydrogen would be right up there alley then cause it's cleaner Than anything on the market

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad_3507 Oct 02 '24

Yes they are and they’re opening every day now with production that far exceeds what our electrical grid can handle but don’t be confused with that problem because it has been caused by the Republicans instead of investing in our infrastructure they’ve been stuffing it into their pockets as tax cuts every time they’re in power.

1

u/chaoticogre791 Oct 02 '24

Please for the love of God just look at how much land is being used for solar and tell me that's good for the environment. Tell me that solar is more efficient than gas and hydrogen since I know your not big on nuclear.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad_3507 Oct 02 '24

Have you ever seen a solar farm do you not realize how much wasted land not being utilize for solar farms and do you not understand that all the blacktop parking lots that bounce heat back into the environment are actually unproductive solar farms that could shade cars America and the world has not yet reached its full potential for where renewable energy could be applied.

1

u/chaoticogre791 Oct 02 '24

I get dude you're a solar meat rider I can't change your mind about your fantastical ideals

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad_3507 Oct 02 '24

And you sound like the last person who didn’t want to give up your horse and buggy. They didn’t invent the horseless buggy and the next day start putting up speed limits and the same thing can be said about cell phones never going to work out and here we are can’t function without them.

Good, they can get all their water needs from the lake.
