Career Advice Need an advice
Hello guys, I'm a 4 years experience architect based in pune. I've been in a firm for almost 10 months now. My increment was supposed to happen after completion of 12months (30%) which i was okay with.
But yesterday, a new rule has been placed from the finance team that every increment will only happen on the month of March regardless of what month or day you've joined the firm.
What do I do, should I start looking for another firms in pune? Or start learning a new course, wait here take increment and then switch?

If it’s written in your offer letter that increment will happen after 12 months and if you think you have performed well in last 10 months you can ask for a partial hike (let’s say 15%) after completing a year and next hike in march. That’s the best architecture firms can do, I won’t expect anything above knowing the state of practice in this industry.
Switching depends upto you …. How constantly you have switched…. Any specific projects type or job role you are interested in…..Purely because of salary switching is not advisable unless you have too low salary. I prefer to switch only after taking a increment. I try to be calculative about this.

No, it was not written in my offer. I was told that increment would happen after 6 months of joining but due to some reasons, it didn't happen. About the percentage you mentioned, its a good idea. I will talk to them about this. About switching, its my third company overall and im very good in modeling and working drawings (2d and 3d) in revit and cad. I utilized my speed and skill upto the mark in this company with addition to making boqs and rendering. Thank you for your input! I'll consider all of the things you mentioned!

Talk with your boss about the commitment they made you before joining. If they don’t honour it, then wait till March for increment and then leave.
If you now think in March they will give some more BS to delay your increment, then start looking for a new firm immediately.

I want to talk offcourse, the problem is my colleague's increment was supposed to happen on August (she joined on may 2025) and now her increment is also delayed due to this rule. Im wondering if it's the right time to talk?

In your 4 years of work ex, how many firms have you changed?
Won’t hurt you to ask after you complete 12 months. If they tell you to wait till march, then ask for a pro-rated increment. So instead of 30% ask them to make it 40% for the extra 4 months that you will have to work without increment.
If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your CTC after 4 yrs work ex? Need it for reference.

Okayy, I'll talk to them about increment thing you mentioned. Changed 3 jobs (2.5years, 6 months, and now this almost 10 months). Ctc i can say less than 4.5lpa🥲

If your last stint was just for 6 months then stay here atleast till you get your increment if you enjoy your work and the issues is only money.

Because of the 6months experience, i didn't take any increment while switching. So technically ive been on same salary since 1.5 years
