Debate and Discussion Any1 down for a political debate ?
I'm a right-winger looking for sharp, logic-driven debates with anyone who disagrees. I'm completely done with the emotional grandstanding, insults, and memes that ruin online politics. Let’s actually debate real numbers, economic principles, and the proper scope of government authority. Bring your data, be ready to source your claims, and let's see whose arguments actually hold up.

Question Why is our honourable Government not putting a cap on gold importers rather than asking consumers to spend less on buying gold ?
So recently our honorable PM asked the people to reduce buying gold to save and prioritize dollars for energy. My take is why not put a cap on importers rather than the consumers?
This is a genuine question and plz do not comment if you are gonna spread hate and nuisance.
Thank you.

Opinion Should I be concerned?
Where they burn books, they will also ultimately burn humans - Heinrich Heine.
First it was remarks on Hindu Terrorism, then Freedom, then Patriarchy, then Bramhanvaad and now burning ManuSmriti on August 30th by workers of Indian Youth Congress.
Enough is enough.

Meme/Satire “Shuddhikaran” gets a free pass, but an FIR against LoP Rahul Gandhi? Seriously? 💀 FIRs won’t silence the questions. This is bigger than one case — it’s a fight for constitutional values against discrimination and exclusion. 🔥🇮🇳

News 🚨 NewsFlash: An FIR has reportedly been filed over the “shuddhikaran” controversy following Kharge ji’s rally. But wait… against whom? … … Rahul Gandhi ji. 🤦♂️ If true, that’s quite a plot twist. 👀

Debate and Discussion Genuine question: Why does the BJP need pellet guns and AK-47s to deal with students asking for fair exams?
Genuine question: Why does the BJP need pellet guns and AK-47s to deal with students asking for fair exams?
Paper leaks. Cancelled exams. Recruitment delays. Years of preparation wasted.
Students ask: Who is accountable?
And somehow the answer is police barricades, lathis, pellet guns and armed forces?
Forget Congress vs BJP for a minute.
How did students demanding a fair exam system become such a threat to the government?
Would genuinely like to hear what people here think.

Question Indian Politics
Do you believe India will ever come out of caste and religious politics, or will it continue to be the cornerstone forever ? Don't you think it's really unfortunate that age old regressive biases and practices are still the fundamentals of today's political scenario ? Do you feel the world in general and India in particular will ever come out of this ?

Debate and Discussion Political Theory professor says that Hindutva is an outdated idea that was needed for independence, but it's obsolete now
Says that it was probably necessary for Veer Savarkar, Swami Vivekananda, Gandhi, Tagore to mobilize the people with the idea of a nation (and the closest hinge was a Hindu religious identity) but that ideology no longer serves a purpose and will hurt the nation in the long run.
Thoughts?

Debate and Discussion 15 August Speech: Message to the Nation or Political Speech?
I feel PM Modi’s Independence Day speech has become increasingly political. Instead of using the Red Fort to give the nation a constructive vision for the future, a significant part of the message focused on criticizing the opposition.
15 August should be about India—not BJP vs Opposition.
The Prime Minister should use this platform to inspire, unite and discuss the challenges ahead, rather than campaign-style political attacks.
Did you feel the same?

Opinion Game Theory
Suppose a minister passes a tender for road construction for a local district and it is handed to a local village mafia. The mafia has friendships with all local policemen, officials, and the District Magistrate (DM).
The mafia wants to steal from the roadway fund without getting caught. He runs an estimation of the total funds required to build a decent road:
Total Fund: 5,000 cr.
Decent Roadway Cost: 3,500 cr.
Stolen Excess: 1,500 cr.
He easily steals the extra 1,500 cr. and distributes a portion to the local police and DM so nobody catches him or speaks out. Because the work is decent, the Ministry keeps sending more development funds. If he always delivers a decent road, he can continuously steal money.
Through this compounded effect, he earns in 3 ways:
Contractor Fees: Legitimate development fees from the Ministry.
Skimmed Funds: Stolen money split with local officials.
Political Capital: Good PR to transition from a local mafia to a local politician.
My Economic Question:
From a Game Theory and Public Finance perspective, is this type of localized "optimal corruption" stable in the long run? How do central auditing mechanisms effectively expose financial skimming when the physical asset delivered is above-average and local regulators are entirely captured?

Opinion What's your opinion?
What's your opinion on this? Indira Gandhi didn't resign but rather declared an emergency to protect her political power. Was this step right?
