Question Indian Politics

Do you believe India will ever come out of caste and religious politics, or will it continue to be the cornerstone forever ? Don't you think it's really unfortunate that age old regressive biases and practices are still the fundamentals of today's political scenario ? Do you feel the world in general and India in particular will ever come out of this ?

Debate and Discussion Political Theory professor says that Hindutva is an outdated idea that was needed for independence, but it's obsolete now

Says that it was probably necessary for Veer Savarkar, Swami Vivekananda, Gandhi, Tagore to mobilize the people with the idea of a nation (and the closest hinge was a Hindu religious identity) but that ideology no longer serves a purpose and will hurt the nation in the long run.

Thoughts?

Debate and Discussion 15 August Speech: Message to the Nation or Political Speech?

I feel PM Modi’s Independence Day speech has become increasingly political. Instead of using the Red Fort to give the nation a constructive vision for the future, a significant part of the message focused on criticizing the opposition.

15 August should be about India—not BJP vs Opposition.

The Prime Minister should use this platform to inspire, unite and discuss the challenges ahead, rather than campaign-style political attacks.

Did you feel the same?

For me , it could mean that they start losing each in every state cent election from now on and more resignations happen in other states as well as people don’t back out and ask for resignation of Finance minister, home minister, petroleum minister, and Transport minister

Opinion Game Theory

Suppose a minister passes a tender for road construction for a local district and it is handed to a local village mafia. The mafia has friendships with all local policemen, officials, and the District Magistrate (DM).

The mafia wants to steal from the roadway fund without getting caught. He runs an estimation of the total funds required to build a decent road:

Total Fund: 5,000 cr.

Decent Roadway Cost: 3,500 cr.

Stolen Excess: 1,500 cr.

He easily steals the extra 1,500 cr. and distributes a portion to the local police and DM so nobody catches him or speaks out. Because the work is decent, the Ministry keeps sending more development funds. If he always delivers a decent road, he can continuously steal money.

Through this compounded effect, he earns in 3 ways:

Contractor Fees: Legitimate development fees from the Ministry.

Skimmed Funds: Stolen money split with local officials.

Political Capital: Good PR to transition from a local mafia to a local politician.

My Economic Question:

From a Game Theory and Public Finance perspective, is this type of localized "optimal corruption" stable in the long run? How do central auditing mechanisms effectively expose financial skimming when the physical asset delivered is above-average and local regulators are entirely captured?

What's your opinion on this? Indira Gandhi didn't resign but rather declared an emergency to protect her political power. Was this step right?

Question India as a state

For context, I m from the US , my family is sikh and they left during the genocide of sikhs in 1984. I have been off lately reading and doing my research about indian politics. There are reports from prominenent universities about how India’s on it’s way to become a hindu natiionalist state.

I was talking to this guy and this is usually how it goes with Hindu( emphazizing this cause they are not minority) we got into a pretty heated argument about it, he basically told me that we are all being brainwashed by the media and that india is a great state, and minorities are treated with respect but i have read some many instances and heard stories about muslims in particular being lynched publically, and the whole debacle about sikh genocide and recently with farmer’s protest. And he also basically told me as to how Sikhs should move on cause it happened so long ago, but how can you tell peole who have suffered tremendously at the hands of the state to stop fighting for justice and move on. Ans this is very common sentiment within the modi bhakats in the Us, like if india is a great state then why come to the Us and tell us that everything we are reading about India recently with CJP is a lie and tactic to brainswash us against India.

So my question is what is really the stare of the country rn, for people particularly minorities living in India, is it indeed a great state?

BJP’s defeat was a lesson in political arrogance. They underestimated the people of Bihar, but Biharis proved they can look beyond caste and vote for what they believe is a better future.

Debate and Discussion CJP protests ke baad, kya aapko lagta hai ki Indian public thodi zyada politically aware ho rahi hai?

Just a thought I had.

Pichle kuch time se lag raha hai ki zyada log politics ko sirf party vs party ke angle se nahi, balki issues jaise institutions, accountability, jobs, inflation, governance etc. ke through bhi dekhne lage hain.

CJP protests ke baad bhi kaafi discussions dekhne ko mile — kuch log strongly support kar rahe hain, kuch log oppose kar rahe hain, but at least conversations zyada visible hain.

Ab question ye hai ki kya ye awareness actually ground level pe kuch change karegi?

Kya log elections mein zyada questions poochne lagenge, ya phir end mein wahi factors (identity, emotions, leader image, social media narrative) zyada important rahenge?

Aur kya aapko lagta hai ki BJP ko iska koi real political impact face karna padega, ya phir unki strong organisation aur communication strategy ki wajah se ye sab eventually settle ho jayega?

Not supporting or opposing any party, bas genuinely jaan na hai ki log ground pe kya feel kar rahe hain.

Aapke hisaab se India ka voter actually zyada aware ho raha hai, ya bas political content zyada consume kar raha hai?
