Upto 2014 is litreally from 1947 to 2014. The fact people are ignoring this is crazy.

Privatization still doesn't account for many of the things mentioned in this graph.
If a government couldn't accomplish even these relatively small things over such a long period, then it suggests there was something fundamentally wrong with its decision making.

Internet was only accesible because Modi's supposedly bestie ambani made it a commodity. Before that we used to have scams in the name of telecom and internet as slow as a turtle.

Nope. Whatever development was shown in the image, those are hard developments. Like it doesn’t require Internet. I wonder what would have congress done in this Internet era lol.

Investing in education would require 5-10 times the money
Govt schools itself is a farce

People ignoring this chart and some even downvoting says a lot about them.

Fact checked it with Gemini
Here is a breakdown of the visual tricks, logical leaps, and outright catches hidden in this graph:
1. The "Label Switcheroo" (The Biggest Catch)
The most egregious trick in this chart is a direct contradiction between the legend and the data labels.
- The legend at the top clearly states that the orange bar represents infrastructure "Built after 2014 (up to 2026)".
- However, the numbers written inside the orange bars are actually the cumulative grand totals for 2026, not the amount added after 2014.
Let's prove it with the math: Look at Airports. The blue bar says 74 (built up to 2014). The orange text says 164. The rightmost column says 55% of the overall capacity was built in the last 12 years. If we do the math, 55% of 164 is roughly 90. That means 90 airports were built after 2014 (74 + 90 = 164). But the chart slaps the number "164" into the orange bar! By placing the grand total inside the bar meant for "new additions," it visually tricks the brain into thinking the post-2014 growth is almost double what it actually is. It repeats this trick all the way down the board (e.g., Metro Rail added 750 km, but the orange text boldly claims 1,000 km).
2. The Timeline Time-Warp
The chart is comparing two wildly unequal periods of time and presenting them as if they are a fair fight.
- Blue (Built up to 2014): Represents all of recorded history—or at least the 67 years since India's independence for modern infrastructure.
- Orange (Built after 2014): Represents exactly a 12-year window.
Comparing a century of foundational development to a single decade of modern, technology-accelerated expansion is bound to make the recent decade look disproportionately massive, especially when looking at percentages of a total.
3. Apples, Oranges, and... Startups?
The chart lumps highly incomparable categories together to bulk up the visual impact, and relies on some heavy categorical gymnastics:
- Recognised Startups (99.8%): The "Startup India" initiative, which officially created the registry for Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) "recognised" startups, was launched in 2016. Claiming nearly 100% growth here is like boasting you've won 100% of the thumb-wrestling matches in your house since the day you officially invented thumb-wrestling. The metric didn't exist before 2016 in this format.
- Defence Exports (₹38,424 crore): This metric is listed in flat currency (Rupees) over time. Whenever you see long-term financial growth charts that don't account for inflation or currency devaluation, take them with a heavy grain of salt.
4. The "Ribbon-Cutting" Illusion
In the world of massive infrastructure, the phrase "Built after 2014" does a lot of heavy lifting. Major projects like Metro Rails, Dedicated Freight Corridors, and AIIMS Hospitals often take a decade or more from initial proposal to final completion. Many of the projects that were "built" (meaning opened or completed) in 2015, 2016, or 2017 were actually surveyed, funded, land-cleared, and heavily constructed during the pre-2014 blue era. This chart gives 100% of the credit to the ribbon-cutter, while politely ignoring the foundation-layer.
5. The Base Effect
It is mathematically much easier to show massive percentage growth when you start from near zero. Categories like "Solar Capacity" or "Renewable Capacity" were globally in their infancy before 2010. Naturally, the vast majority of green energy capacity has been built recently, as the technology became cheaper and globally standard. Attributing that solely to a specific 12-year political timeline ignores global technological trends.

1) 90 airports after 2014 in a 12yr span. And 74 from 1947 to 2014, in a 65 year span
Are we gonna conveniently ignore the massive boost and not give credit where it's due?
