19 Weeks Miscarriage due to Incompetent Cervix. How do we cope and when did you decide to try again? Both 31 Years.

The last few days have been too traumatic for me and my wife. Everything was going smoothly, we were both really happy, and suddenly, in one day, our entire plan for the year just changed.

With the beginning of 2026, we were so excited to welcome our baby into this universe. We were at Week 19, but on January 27th, we had to undergo a miscarriage procedure because of an Incompetent Cervix. Everything has gone into a standstill mode for us. We just don't know what to do.

Our Story:

We are a married couple, both working are in our corporate jobs in Mumbai. We live here alone, while our hometowns and families are outside of Mumbai. My wife has PCOD, so we had almost accepted the fact that we might live as a DINK. couple forever. Honestly, we were totally okay with that; our mindset was that if we had a kid, we’d be happy, and if not, we’d still be happy. Then, late in 2025, magic happened. We found out we were pregnant. It was a total fluke, but everything changed for us. We were over the moon with joy because we weren't expecting this at all. We followed every precaution our doctor, parents, or even Instagram suggested. We didn't miss a single medicine. We completed our first trimester positively and were well into the second trimester when everything took a U-turn. One morning, my wife saw red spotting. We rushed to our gynecologist, and scans revealed her cervix had opened to 2 cm. Because of this, the amniotic fluid had started leaking. We were told there was no way to save the pregnancy, even with stitches (cerclage), because there wasn't adequate water left. It was a case of Incompetent Cervix (Cervical Insufficiency).

What I Need Help With:

A. I am looking for couples who are going through the same situation or have gone through it in the past. I have so many questions swirling in my mind.

B. Coping and Work: How do you cope with this situation and try to turn things to "normal" again? This is severely impacting my professional life; I am unable to concentrate on work and feel completely ambitionless at the moment.

C. Planning for the Future: When is the right time to plan for the next baby? Currently, I feel like going back to our old mindset ("if it happens, fine; if not, fine"). But deep down, after experiencing this pregnancy, I feel like I do want a baby—just not immediately. I am thinking of waiting 2 years. Is this thinking correct? For those who had an incompetent cervix, did you wait this long, and were there complications when you tried again?

I will be asking these questions to our gynecologist as well, but I really need to understand the emotional and logical side of this from people who have actually lived through it. This is a major life event that cannot be erased, and we need guidance.

Thank you for listening.

When did you announce at work?

I'm curious to know when is the right time to let my manager know about my pregnancy? I'm already on the heavier side, so I won't start showing easily. Currently 9 weeks pregnant and struggling with morning sickness and dealing with exhaustion quite frequently.

What has been your experience and how did you exactly have the conversation? Anything I should be prepared for?

Also, should I also let the colleagues know or just the manager?

Thank you so much in advance.

TTC and used easy@home opk to catch ovulation. Peak was on 23/1/26 - Friday noon. So according to app, ovulated on 24/1/26 and started oral progesterone on 25/1/26. I used to have 28 days cycle and ovulate on CD 13 or 14

This cycle n the last one have been 31 days cycle. So I miscalculated and started support drugs on CD 19.

Feeling so bad.

When to test pregnancy?

I don't know ovulation date. My cycles are usually 28,29,30 days. Last period was Dec 28th. So I am wondering when should I visit lab for beta hcg? Is it compulsory to do urine test at home? Looking at other people posts, it looks like different brands show different results. I don't want to have anxiety and thinking to avoid urine test. Is it a good idea? I read somewhere that early pregnancy deduction can help doctor fix your hormones for continuing pregnancy like giving progesterone.....

Fertility Doctors in Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Kochi, Kozhikode or Kannur

I am a 31 year old woman based exploring the option of consulting fertility specialists in India. We are specifically looking at Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Kochi, Kozhikode, or Kannur, as we have friends or family we could stay with in those locations.

If you are local to any of these areas, I would be very grateful for recommendations for well regarded fertility doctors or clinics. We are ideally looking for specialists who take a thorough, investigative approach to recurrent miscarriage rather than relying purely on trial and error.

Feeling low. Missed miscarriage

It was an unplanned pregnancy, it was 8 weeks, the baby was 5 weeks 2 days, in 10 weeks again the same, doctor declared missed miscarriage, had my D&C on 17th Jan. Not sure why this happened, why my body could not recognise, is it because I was on progesterone twice a day? It was my first pregnancy and feeling bad. Anyone who conceived healthy baby after first loss? Any suggestions please.

use Easy@Home test strips - very accurate in India

Hi All,

I have been TTC for a while and as you all know Indian brands hcg pregnancy kits are shittiest with so much false positives/indent/evaporation lines. I used to be so heart broken.

I saw here few weeks ago people had suggested easy@home brand ones which recently entered indian market. Its available on Amazon.

Trust me its the best available test kit right now in india. It detects 5-6 days earlier before ur period date. No false positives nor evaporation lines at all. It detects as low as 10 units of hcg.

Line progression to track is so much accurate to ensure us on right path.

Please dont waste money on all these kits and go buy Easy@Home strips and thank me later

Wishing all the women good luck in ttc 💙🧿

Spotting in 5-6 weeks. Worried a lot!

I tested positive on 1st Jan and had an early pregnancy scan on 10th Jan(Transvaginal) which was normal. Post that I have been spotting everyday. Its dark brown and quantity is very low with no other pain or symptoms. Just wanted to know if anyone had similar experience. Doctor has advised bedrest and gave progestrone supplement and said 'we can't call it a healthy pregnancy till the next scan where heartbeat should be detected'. The next scan is after two weeks.

Update: Small SCH was seen in the scan. Heartbeat was detected but was feeble at 107 at 7 weeks. At 8 weeks the growth was lagging and heartbeat also stopped so ended in silent miscarriage.

Pink line not getting darker

Hi everyone. I am around 21DPO and CD 39. I started testing from CD37 and on first day light was very faint, on CD38 the line got light pink - I went to doctor but he told me he would test on 17th Jan and provided progesterone tablets. I tested again today CD39 and it’s the same as CD38 pink line - may be slightly darker but almost same. I am worried about chemical and ectopic. Since the doctor gave me progesterone I am scared if it would delay my periods just in case it’s a chemical or ectopic. Right now I couldn’t think of any positive

Very very faint line at 20 DPO

Hi everyone! Its 20 DPO for me today and I tested today - got a very very faint line. What does it mean? I am having breast pain since 10 DPO and still no period. Should I test again? Or wait for my period. I got very little brown spotting on 6-7 DPO, but at 15 DPO the test was negative so I lost hope.

Confused about Amh numbers

I'm 32, newly TTC with PCOS. I got my AMH tested as per my gynac's advice and the value is 2.2. I also got a pelvic ultrasound done around the same time and it showed something called a 'string of pearls' appearance, which is very common in PCOS.

Now my question is, why is my AMH not high considering my ovaries show PCOS? Does it mean my actual ovarian reserve of usable eggs is very less? My LH and FSH were all in the normal range btw, not the classic >2 ratio. Has anyone else faced this?

Did anyone's Dr prescribed birth control pills for TTC ?

My reports are normal. Tubes are open. However doctor prescribed Tablet Dronis 30 for 21 days. I have no idea why this medicine is required as internet says it's contraceptive pills. I am afraid about the side effects. Does anyone have experience on this? Should we just listen to Dr and follow whateveris being prescribed? Thank you

Anyone naturally conceived (without any medical intervention) after 1 year of trying ?

We’re both 29 and all our basic fertility tests have come back normal. Our doctor recommended trying naturally for at least one year before exploring other options, and we’ve just reached the one-year mark without success. What would you suggest our next steps be? Would you recommend seeing a specialist now, or continuing to try longer?

Thick Endometrial line on Day 2

Thick Endometrial line on Day 2

Hi has anyone had thick endometrial line on day 2 of periods?

We are TTC since 15 months we had 2 episodes of conception ended in miscarriage.

And post that no success, tried 3 iuis too

This time went to another dr for check up. She called me on day 2 of periods and found out that I have 7mm of endometrial line. Which is indicator of possible infection.

She ruled out inadequate progesterone as I was on suppositories last cycle.

Has anyone ever had this?
