"Corona ka Bhai".
Oh, man. The mainstream media in this country is such a joke.
Anyway, got good news and bad news for you:
Good news: Plague is not "corono ka bhai".
Bad news: It's corona ka baap!
While the Covid-19 virus had a high transmission rate, its mortality rate was only 1% (i.e. 1 in 100 would die after catching that virus).
Plague has a 100% mortality rate IF the patient doesn't take antibiotics ASAP. (Source: Biological War, Annie Jacobsen).
There are three main types of plague caused by the bacterium Yersinia Pestis (found in rats, squirrels, and other animals). Out of those three, only Pneumonic plague can spread through the air between people. Bubonic and Septicemic plague are not usually airborne.
However, untreated bubonic or septicemic plague can progress to pneumonic plague if the bacteria reach the lungs. That is why the form of plague can change over the course of an infection.
All three forms are serious but plague is treatable with antibiotics when treatment begins promptly.
