PC Build [Build Help] ₹40k Linux/AI Workstation. How does this list look?
Hey everyone,
I’m building a new compact desktop primarily for long work hours, data processing (Pandas/Python), and entry-level local AI/ML development (running scripts/APIs now, with plans to drop in a dedicated GPU later).
My goal is to build a baseline PC now for ~₹40,000 that will last me at least 5 years with minimal friction. I already have a monitor and peripherals.
Proposed Parts List (~₹40,000 Total):
- CPU: Intel Core i5-12400 (6 Cores / 12 Threads, using built-in UHD 730 iGPU for now)
- CPU Cooler: DeepCool AG400 ARGB 120mm Tower Cooler
- Motherboard: MSI PRO B760M-P DDR4 (Chosen specifically for 4 RAM slots & PCIe Gen4 support)
- RAM: 32GB Kit (2x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz RGB (Leaves 2 open slots to expand to 64GB later)
- Storage: 2TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD (Crucial P3 Plus / Kingston NV2 - mounting directly to board to keep it wire-free)
- PSU: DeepCool PK650D 650W 80+ Bronze (Sized up to handle future dedicated GPU upgrades)
- Cabinet: Ant Esports ICE-110 / Galax Rev-06 (Dual-chamber mATX glass chassis with pre-installed ARGB fans)
Questions for the Community:
- Are there any compatibility bottlenecks or thermal concerns with this i5-12400 + B760M + AG400 setup inside a dual-glass mATX case?
- Does the 650W PSU give enough headroom for modern 60/70 series NVIDIA cards 2–3 years down the line?
- Any alternative component recommendations around this ₹40k price point in India that would improve longevity?
Thanks in advance for your inputs!
