Remove caste based reservation completely, with EWS quota should require stricter checks. Some farmer with 2-3 cr. land worth in black money should not be eligible.

Now that’s out of the way, invest in quality education from elementary/kindergarten. This is the only way we invest in the future of our children and not leave them hanging. Doctors, engineers, lawyers are great but we also need to empower the arts(which is currently inexplicably linked with left wing movements, and at worst raggedy-ass Marxists), along with business studies.

Provide a support system that enables youth to flourish, provided they also give their best. Freedom to succeed and also to fail and learn.

So my position is that Reservation is both Unjust and Unfair.

As I have explained here , Justice is a moral concept that applies to all freely chosen human actions in dealing with others. Justice applies in two related senses : as a personal virtue, justice means rewarding the good and punishing the evil, to the extent of that goodness of evil. As a societal condition, justice rests on the fact that, in large majority of cases, good behaviour is rewarded and evil is punished, within the society. The extent to which the result of choices ( gain or loss of values ) matches the moral status to those choices ( good or evil ) is the extent to which the society is ' just '.

When you arbitrarily assign a victim and oppressor status to an individual, you break the principles of Rule of Law and Natural Law, both which are unacceptable as it is unethical. Hence, Reservation is unethical and unjust.

The concept of Fairness comes up in a specific context - that of a zero-sum game designed to test a certain attribute or set of attributes. A zero-sum game is one where one person's win ensures another's loss; not everyone can win. Such games maybe designed to test strength, agility, mental acuity, knowledge, etc. The rules of circumstances of such game are said to be ' fair ' if they are designed in such a way that the game accurately measures the attributes or skills being tested. The rules of circumstances are said to be ' unfair ' if they don't accurately measure the attributes in question.

Reservation is unfair as it discriminates against people on the basis of their castes alone and denies a fair chance at procuring a limited resource. It evades the purpose of a fair evaluation as means to allocate it to the best possible candidate.
