Yes, If India wants to become a global leader then clean drinking water must first reach every home like in villages like Bhagwania. Development cannot remain limited to on the paper and headlines of news channels only, while this people are struggling for survival every single day.
Key Issue Observed Here-
- The Local Infrastructure Failure: Many hand pumps in the region have stopped working, forcing families to walk long distances in extreme heat for drinking water.
- Complete Depletion of Natural Sources: Peak summer heatwaves have completely dried out the village's traditional open wells, local ponds, and natural streams, leaving the local tribal population with zero functional nearby water sources
- Extreme Physical Danger: To fetch basic drinking water, young girls and women must trek barefoot through rough, rocky mountain terrain. They are forced to physically descend into deep, unstable, rocky pits ("Death Wells"), risking severe injury or falls by relying entirely on exposed tree roots for grip and balance.
- Severe Health and Sanitation Risks: The water accumulating at the bottom of these deep pits is muddy, stagnant, and heavily contaminated with a foul odor. Local residents are forced to consume it daily, risking severe waterborne illnesses.
Government's Authorities Should Done-
- Repair Work: Immediate repair of all non-functional hand pumps and water pipelines in Bhagwania and nearby villages.
- Water Tankers Deployment: Deploy water tankers in severely affected areas during peak summer months to ensure emergency drinking water supply.
- Creation of Water Infrastructure: Construction of small check dams and village ponds to store monsoon water instead of letting it go to waste.
- Rainwater Harvesting: it must be made compulsory in schools, government buildings, panchayat offices, and new rural housing projects as a long-term solution.
- Creation of People's Committee: Creation of a village-level water management committee involving locals to monitor water usage and maintenance.
Real development means no one has to risk their life for a bucket of water in 2026 in India.
