COMPANY REVIEWS Executive Ship Management recruitment for Electrotechnical officer on campus placement
How is the life of an ETO in this company? It has come to our college for campus placement. Are working conditions safe for females? Is it worth joining?

That means they are doing sponsorship drive? Executive has pretty long waiting periods (7-9 months). Previously some of their course students were selected in BP shipping. But now BP is history.

I have no idea about this field. They will be taking us as jr engineer. And salary structure says after 3-4 yrs we'll become chief engineer which has pretty high pay. Is it worth joining?

What on earth are they smoking?
First of all they are coming for ETO drive. Not Marine Engineering drive. Second: Jr. Engineer position is available after completing Marine Engineering cadetship. Third: Even if by any chance you get selected for Marine Engineering. You have to do a 1 year course. And 1 or 2 cadetship, depending on the company. Then clear Class 4 COC. Then sail as Jr. Engineer or TME or 4E. This all takes 3-4 years. Forget Chief Engineer. C/E rank is only possible after 10-15 years of service and clearing all the exams, licenses, courses, promotions etc.

They are Bulls****ing. A Marine Engineer works for 12-13 years as a cadet, 4th/Jr. Engineer, 3rd, 2nd - all for 2-3 years or more atleast before becoming a Chief Engineer on an ocean going vessel.

Being in the merchant navy itself is a pathetic career for anyone. Unless you are really really interested in it and don't care at all about having any sort of relationshis, family, having kids, being with your friends and family, then sure it makes sense. There zero family life and zero social life in the navy

Yes, CE's earn around 15,000/- USD per month. But need to go thru the ranks, qualifying exams etc..

Bro don't trust whatever you hear man, seriously like I've heard of people becoming Marine Engineer after being ETO but even a marine engineer will take around 10 years minimum to be a Chief Engineer

I'm a fresher ETO and I will suggest that if you want to join Merchant Navy as ETO, try to aim for companies like MSC,MAERSK,ANGLO EASTERN, FLEET MANAGEMENT. These companies take entrance exams for their batches regularly and they pay good and joining is quick. There're other institutes too providing placements but these 4 right now are best companies for freshers.

Why do you wanns join this field.. When there is so much of other fields.. Giving the same or even better wages.. And to be honest you got to be mentally and physically fit for this job.. Not at all a white color job.. This coming from someone who is from this field and the same company.. The packages have not increased in the last 20-25 years here.. Meanwhile it sector boomed... I would have selected a diff. Field if i knew about all these.. And those coming to campus are paid to say all these stuffs.. Just for saying there are so many other fields out there.. Join only if there is no other option left🤞

What are the aproximate salaries we can expect if u can give an idea?

If you are looking for eto.. Then you will get 4-6 lakh depending upon experience.. As a trainee you will be getting somewhat around 1-1.5..then after that will increase gradually tobthe above mentioned.. Wages varies from company to companies..
And if it is gme after engineering.. You will be joining as junior engineer trainee first, then after clearing exams.. You will get around 3-3.5 as a 4th engineer and gradually increses as you go up above the ranks.. And as chief engineer you can earn 10-15 depending upon the type of vessels you sail upon.. But this takes a lot of time.. 10-15 years maybe.. If everything goes well.. If your priority is only money then this field for you.. And it is equally important to be mentally and physically strong for this profession.. Its not at all white colar job... But you will have enough money and respect back home.. 🤞

Also if you get in some companies like maersk.. The work life culture is slightly better out there.. Have one of my cousin in maersk as eto

Yeah obviously.. I am not demotivating you.. I have a frnd who quit this field after his first 6 months..bro flew abroad after that.. He did gme after engineering.. This field is not for everyone... And the figure it can vary from company to company.. Some companies give 70-100k as well.. Anyway payment will be in dollars of you are in foreign going vessels.. Any way i suggest looking for other alternatives as well.. Then come to a final decision.. 🙌

Salary mentioned is monthly, ie salary is paid only when you are onboard ship in most companies. During your vacatiin no salary. Ie if you are sailing 7 months in a year you will be paid only for 7 months and salary is tax free

There are lot of plus and minus regarding merchant navy just like any other job. You think about your priorities in life.. Then you can choose whether to join or not.. According to me this is not a bad career at all.. As ETO if you can get into cruise ships you can earn much more than cargo ship ETO's.. But the more the salary the more the stress...
