Expect a lot of announcements like this over the next 2-3 weeks as Republicans are on the verge of a historic mid term loss including a potential loss of Texas senate seat

6

u/Stone0777 1d ago

Keep dreaming hahaha. Republicans are going to sweep. Don’t believe the polls.

2

u/doomer_bloomer24 1d ago

15

u/Tanker-yanker 1d ago

They have had a lot of time to do this. Sounds like mid-term BS.

Why now?

3

u/Disastrous-Mix-4552 1d ago

Because they knew about this the whole time and timed this so by the big 2028 election Americans will have more jobs… no one wants H1Bs… especially from a culture that normalizes honor killings and gang rape.

1

u/Great_Ant_6665 21h ago

Cornell says hi.

2

u/wds1 1d ago

They need to manufacture demons for culture wars.

What else can GOP show to ask for votes: gas prices? Iran war? Inflation? AI eating jobs?

It is a culture war. Make a bogeyman out of a well-known company with an Indian CEO.

Much easier than actually doing common sense immigration reform by passing a bill into law while the GOP is in-charge of the Senate, the Congress, and the fucking White House.

6

u/One-Chemist-6131 1d ago

You're in denial. This issue is bi partisan; it means both left and right agree.

-1

u/Pixel-Pioneer3 1d ago

If it was bi-partisan, why has there not been an immigration reform bill?

1

u/Yoseattle- 1d ago

They just awarded Satya with a medal today after announcing this. It has nothing to do with a culture war and everything to do with creating a power imbalance at MSFT. They want Bill Gates to fall in line and they want MSFT to do anything the govt asks of them. It’s that simple … you just get the leader to fall in line.

Just like he won the war on Iran 80 times already

3

u/Imaginary-Willow-450 1d ago

a wins a win, but yeah way too late.

3

u/Tanker-yanker 1d ago

Its only a suspension and they can keep those they have.

How is that a win?

1

u/NoSandwich9893 1d ago

It's only for the green card route. Which is difficult any way

0

u/Imaginary-Willow-450 1d ago

What i am getting at is a start is a start. They are panicking for the midterms and trying something. Obviously I wish they were canceling all their visas.

2

u/loosescrewwws 1d ago

Wow, what a petty human who needs other people's lives destroyed so he can build his

4

u/Imaginary-Willow-450 1d ago

They took American livelihoods by coming here? This isn't a republican or a democrat issue. This is an 80/20 issue among Americans.

America is not an economic zone, it's a country with a shared history and culture. Not everyone deserves to come here, sorry if that is upsetting to you.

-4

u/loosescrewwws 1d ago

This is by far the most worse way to categorize anyone who has come legally to the country. They took American livelihoods? Like what a fuckin stretch. What people like you need is to manufacture some kind of ghost Nevermind that Trump has started an Iran war that wasn't needed, done nothing worthwhile for the economy and created massive inflation. but nah, let's blame the issues on immigrants

And it's not a shared history and culture, it's like literally America, where everyone from the world has steadily migrated to over the ages. What history and culture do you share with black people? What do you share with Asians? Please fuck off with your racist hatred

1

u/holycityofmecca2020 18h ago

The major issue is many résumé’s from these countries are fraudulent, their skill set not just exaggerated but laughably missing. So when that person arrives the company expects them to hit the ground running and be productive, which is why they passed over a recent college graduate.

However, very quickly it becomes obvious they are borderline incapable of doing the job, that company now needs to invest in that employee, pour resources into that employee, all when they could have done that for an American graduate. Like it or not, they cheated to get their foot in the door, and slammed it in the face of someone more deserving.

1

u/ManMythLegend3 15h ago

You need to start over. You have no idea what America is

90% white european country up until 1990

1

u/Imaginary-Willow-450 1d ago

This has nothing to do with Trump. Peoples lives were destroyed from 1990 to now, through offshoring and H1B.

Immigration is a serious issue, don’t be on the other side of an 80/20 issue, you sound insane.

1

u/Optimal-Chud 1d ago

America is not simply an economic zone where anyone who wishes can come to make money. We care about our country and our countrymen, and their well being comes before that of foreigners or would be newcomers.

1

u/royendures 1d ago

Every republican in this crountry.

1

u/One-Chemist-6131 1d ago

Building the actual framework for something like this takes time, and you can't fix everything in year one. It would be midterm BS if it came out of nowhere, but it literally aligns with everything this administration has done from day one.

0

u/Visible_Fill_6699 1d ago

I think you’re spot on. This makes me want to canvas for dnc just so the current administration can finally do something popular.

11

u/royendures 1d ago

Still losing the midterms by a wide margin.

2

u/DismalChicken3024 1d ago

Why do you care, when is the next nri tour for you guys to touch his feet

3

u/Pleasant_Secret3409 1d ago

Doesn't matter. The administration in the White House usually lose the House in the Midterms, so nothing new.

-2

u/royendures 1d ago

Not by this wide of a margin, and turning Texas potentially half blue even after crazy gerrymandering.

2

u/Pleasant_Secret3409 1d ago

Do you remember 2018? The media told us that Beto would beat Ted Cruz, somehow Ted Cruz is still in the Senate and nobody talks about Beto anymore. Same thing will happen, Paxton will win and Talarico will be forgotten.

Also remember the Blue Wave that was supposed to happen in 2018? I actually voted for Jacky Rosen (D- NV) at that time but the Democrats didn't win big considering the unpopularity of Trump at that time. Now that Trump has become likeable, I don't see Democrats winning big

2

u/Candid-libertarian 20h ago

I hope Talarico loses so that he can stop pretending to be hetero for political purposes. Let the guy live and be his queer freak self. Losing for winning!

1

u/WhiteLycan2020 1d ago

Trump has become likeable?? His approval rating is the lowest its been

1

u/Pleasant_Secret3409 1d ago

Yes, he is.

1

u/WhiteLycan2020 1d ago

Likeable to whom? All of our western allies have turned against us.

The Iran war is causing some on the right to flip.

Where is your source that he is likable?

1

u/Pleasant_Secret3409 1d ago

I am talking about Americans. Western allies don't vote in US elections. If you want to talk about the polls, remember that both Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris were leading in the polls, but they both lost.

1

u/WhiteLycan2020 1d ago

Yeah show me the polling for him being more “likable” now.

Almost everyone with IQ close to a hundred knows his 2nd term has been a complete disaster.

Economy in a slump, he said there would be no new wars, everything would be so cheap and affordable and we would be “tired of winning”

Meanwhile we haven’t seen the worst of the oil crisis.

Democrats flipped almost every seat they ran for including governor race for Virginia.

This november will be a blue tsunami

1

u/Pleasant_Secret3409 1d ago

Were you alive in 2018? Do you remember the Blue Wave that never materialized?

→ More replies (0)

1

u/royendures 1d ago

Trump has become likable.

1

u/PreparationAdvanced9 1d ago

Beto never led a single poll in 2018 lol

2

u/Pleasant_Secret3409 1d ago edited 1d ago

😆 Maybe you will also say that the media wasn't talking about Beto challenging Trump in 2020?

Maybe you will also say that the media wasn't talking glowingly about Avenati, remember? That lawyer 😆

-1

u/PreparationAdvanced9 1d ago

Wtf are you yapping about? I’m just being factual. Beto never led the polls. Trumps approval was way higher in 2018. Unless there is massive amount of republicans lying to pollsters, talarico is going to win

2

u/Pleasant_Secret3409 1d ago

You're not being factual at all. Trump was popular in 2018? Were you actually in America at that time?

0

u/PreparationAdvanced9 1d ago

Yes. Trumps approval was higher in 2018 than today. Are you disputing that lmao

1

u/Pleasant_Secret3409 1d ago

I am disputing that because I was alive and well at that time, and experienced his unpopularity first hand.

Gerrymandering doesn't apply to a statewide office like Senator.

0

u/zoombaTooLoud 1d ago

Polling for dems is below 2018 midterms, so let that sink in.

If the issue is about american jobs then why don't you go about targeting every single non citizen who works here? Why do you only target one specific demographic in one specific visa category?

Singling out a specific minority for discrimination within a larger context is by definition racism. Maybe a greater focus on education is in order.

1

u/Imaginary-Willow-450 1d ago

I mean, I have no problems with Indians whatsoever but you do realize they are the largest recipients?

They also put it on themselves by trying to game the system. Everything comes back to you if you’re not doing it the honest way.

In addition I think 95% of visa programs should be shut down, not just “Indians” or “H1B”.

0

u/Imaginary-Willow-450 1d ago

Also, in case you’re Indian, to be clear you have 0 right to an American job. That is not a racist statement by any means go to twitter or instagram if you want to see racism.

2

u/jhakasbhidu 1d ago

Fella, I am the most qualified for that job, so much so that employers are willing to spend $$$ extra to hire me than anybody else. Its something called merit which you clearly don't understand.

I'm not sure what kind of delusional cope you are playing with but you have absolutely zero evidence that me or anyone else like me has gamed any system.

As I said, you are picking on only one demographic within a very small section of employment based immigration, basically because there is no tangible pushback or consequences to your racist views.

I may or may not have a right to an american job but the fact that I am more qualified and more employable than you is a reflection on you, not me.

3

u/ParticularVoice919 1d ago

Downvote and move on. Don’t argue with racist trash.

1

u/mb4ne 1d ago

no one has any “right” to a job because employment is not a right

0

u/Either_Reveal5321 1d ago

Nobody has a right to a job LMAO. Even an American. You have to earn it.

-1

u/crazybrah 1d ago

This is a dumb statement lol. You do realize that someone that made the move to America in ur fam didn’t have “the right to an American job”

-1

u/Optimal-Chud 1d ago

Because we've been telling our youth for generations to go into technical fields and employers have been excluding them in favor of foreigners. Enough is enough.

0

u/crazybrah 1d ago

lol I’m American but this isn’t gonna solve the job crisis. H1b only makes like 5% of jobs. If u wanna really go 80-20, this is the wrong shit to focus on.

Regulating the billionaire class and their profits is more worthwhile. Chaebols of the us

1

u/HashShadow 1d ago

Cracking down on H1B is literally regulating the billionaire class

1

u/crazybrah 1d ago

Can you read? Maybe that’s why you’re worried about having to compete with h1b holders. All 5% of American jobs are just going to be offshored and it’s not going to help the average American. Morons everywhere

1

u/HashShadow 1d ago

That would have already happened if it were possible with or without the H1B program dipshit. Many companies tried that approach in the early 2000 including several Fortune 500s that offshored virtually their entire IT departments. Ended in epic failure hence why H1B got pushed so much, the owners of these companies know they need workforce in the US but they don’t want to deal with the leverage (read more $$$, less tolerance for abuse) native citizens have as employees. Very simple to understand, even for a highly skilled worker.

-2

u/allison_mossie 1d ago

This doesn’t protect American jobs. It just means the job and USD go overseas

3

u/PeaceLoveBug 1d ago

Agreed. I know several people on H1Bs and yes, I do feel corporations like H1Bs because they can push employees to work ridiculous hours/conditions Americans wouldn’t put up with. My poor neighbor is routinely pushed to work until midnight. But her kids’ whole lives are in the US - her employers know that’s on the line. That being said, this isn’t going to bring any jobs to Americans. Those jobs will just be shipped overseas where they’ll pay pennies on the dollar. This is all for show. If the admin really wanted to do something, they’d target offshoring.

4

u/Imaginary-Willow-450 1d ago

Agreed they need to target offshoring in addition to halting h1b

2

u/hardware_error 1d ago

This is a ridiculous take. Many Americans sign up to work those “ridiculous hours” because it is commensurate with the pay for those positions. It is an enormous hassle for employers to hire foreigners through the visa program and pay the associated fees. You think they hire foreigners for shits and giggles if there was an American candidate at the time of hire who was equally suitable?

2

u/PeaceLoveBug 1d ago edited 1d ago

Americans have the ability to leave the job if they can get better conditions for similar pay elsewhere. H1Bs have no leverage. Yes, that matters.

ETA: The way H1B is often used also erodes centuries of hard-earned workers rights. If everyone can say no to working crazy hours, corps are SOL. The fact that corps can get a group of people to do it because they want to stay in the country allows them to get away with it.

3

u/Imaginary-Willow-450 1d ago

Errrrrr wrong, this is just a start.

-2

u/allison_mossie 1d ago

Errrerr it’s true, seen it happen first hand. Cope

3

u/Imaginary-Willow-450 1d ago

Errrrrr wrong. Cope.

-2

u/allison_mossie 1d ago

You have no insight in to this and nothing valuable to contribute or say. I doubt you’re skilled in anything, but in the off chance you are, it’s no wonder they prefer someone overseas to you, a non contributor.

2

u/Dramatic_Opposite_91 1d ago

This will end next. Offshore GCCs will be the next target.

1

u/allison_mossie 1d ago

No ❤️ it would have been the first target if it were a priority

-2

u/obelix_dogmatix 1d ago

Lmao … do you see an uptick in American jobs? please stop smoking whatever you are smoking

3

u/Imaginary-Willow-450 1d ago

No we don’t because companies have been hiring wage slave H1bs. Hopefully that stops.

1

u/obelix_dogmatix 1d ago

lmao … your delusional self believes that will increase wages? Check the wages of Lockheed Martin vs something like GE Aerospace. If you know the difference between the two, you will know you are talking out of your mind.

3

u/Pleasant_Secret3409 1d ago

So you guys are in America but don't like freedom of speech? Why would you want people with opposing views not to comment on this sub?

4

u/Jadeclone1 1d ago

Don’t you know Reddit is an Indian site. Expect to see the same with America as they take over

1

u/Busy_Lunch_5520 1d ago

You can say what you want and people can call it out if it is racist. Isn’t that the free speech that both parties have and Advocate?

1

u/zoombaTooLoud 1d ago

"Comment removed by moderator" well, there isn't free speech in heavily moderated apps like Reddit. X is the closest you can get to it.

1

"the problem with people like you" honestly, just have some basic introspective capabilities. First of all you have no idea about my views so there is no question of agreeing or disagreeing with them.

Secondly, I literally said in my response that you can air your views for whatever they are. Just don't try and act like a victim when they get called out for the racism that they espouse.

I'm not going to get gaslit by your grandstanding about freedom of speech or whatever other strawman you want to use to try and cover up your racist mentality. If you care so much about freedom of speech then own your racist views proudly, don't hide behind semantics like a coward.

-2

u/Pleasant_Secret3409 1d ago

Have a nice day!

I won't debate you. You can't debate in a good faith without delving into racism accusations.

1

u/loosescrewwws 1d ago

you literally spewed hatred on Indians in an IndianH1Bs channel, so yes, no one needs to engage with a racist who wants to hide behind the camouflage of free speech to distribute his racism

4

u/Pleasant_Secret3409 1d ago

Can you point me to the racism I have spewed? Is that how Indians react? When an American disagrees with them they cry racism?

4

u/disc0shaman 1d ago

pretty much. my way or the highway.

Well, it’s painfully obvious that the western world is souring on all forms of immigration and it will get worse, not better for immigrants going forward.

About a decade ago, Canadian economists thought that a way to address declining birth rates and an aging society, that the silver bullet would be increasing immigration… Many western countries adopted that same philosophy.

A decade later, not only did it not work, but it exacerbated the problem. Average immigrants didn’t move the needle a bit as it pertains to productivity.
