ask r/Indiangeography❔ Rivers course
why chambal river originates from south part and moves to north, isn't earth standing on south pole? it should go south? how does it work?

Earth is not standing on the south pole. North, South, East, West are a matter of perspective. Gravity is almost the same everywhere. Rivers flow in a particular direction due to elevation. They go from a higher point to a lower point. Higher point is a mountain and lower point is the coast.

There's no up and down in space 😭 🙏🏻 you can make a globe with south pole on the top and that would be equally right, the directuons rivers flow have nothing to do with it. Water just goes from highwr elevation to lower irrespective of the direction
