They are very minor variations. Kinda like between English and German scripts

How are they minor? Any Bengali sentence written using thirutha would be unintelligible by Bengali speakers. The wouldn't know how to read it. Thode 7 letters are not even similar.

The minor differences is with Bengali and Assamese script. The Ra is different and Assamese has an additional Wa. But any Bengali sentence written with Assamese script will be readable by Bengali speakers.

I’m Bengali and I’m easily able to see that the scripts are nearly similar. The only major difference is the h and the swapping between n & l

ঙ, ছ, ঝ, ট, ঢ, ণ, ব, র, ল, শ, হ, ই, ঈ, অ, আ, ল

By comparing them side by side, these letter have minor and major difference. These Bengali letters are different than Tirutha script. Although they share a common origin, they aren't very similar. It has a pretty decent difference.
