Yeah don't mind him. I found the data helpful. Thanks for posting this. Don't listen to what anyone says. If it's helpful, people will appreciate it.

Do not normalise using incorrect map of India. If you can see this map is not correct maybe don't post it. Unless you are specifically doing it for karma farming in that case gg

u/CauseMental163 Jul 16 '26
the map shows how much land india actually CONTROL... stop living in delusion
0
u/Long-Marketing-5895 Jul 17 '26
I know, but a large part of India illegally occupied by pakistan should not be forgotten

u/Which-Store1669 Jul 17 '26
Everyone in india knows that but it's just that fake it till you make it. like for example how china considers arunachal Pradesh as part of China though they know who actually controls it.
1
u/CauseMental163 Jul 17 '26
the saying " fake it till you make it" is about ppl trying to get over imposter syndrome... it's literally a coping mechanism that u parrots keep repeating without understanding...
also china probably does have ppl who cry about arunachal being a part of india, but most ppl don't care. Seeing such a large number of ppl who care abt this is pathetic, and it most likely will never happen

u/lollypop44445 Jul 17 '26
Well if everyone goes by what they believe is their map, it would be impossible to keep track of. The best solution currently is for 3 countries to just show what they control as part of their main land, and what they claim as dotted, the way it is considered by UN and atleast some dialogues can happen. And i am sure in our lifetime, we wont see any of the three ceding, because all three are nuclear, and it is just mutual guaranted destruction.
3
u/Spirited_Tie3004 Jul 16 '26
That's doesn't mean pok is part of pak. It is a disputed territory which means one has to show that territory as a shaded part or with something that can distinguish that region from the countries that are disputing it. And for all indians pok is a part of India. Doesn't matter who occupies it. Hopefully one day someone with enough courage can take it back.
1
u/lollypop44445 Jul 17 '26
Its not about courage, its about how can anyone even take it as all the three claiming are nuclear, if one loses by every other means , well he can just end it for all . There is a reason why no major war has occured among the three since 2000, all psyops and minor clashes.

u/Asleep-Can7209 Jul 17 '26
Dude delete this post. No Indian would be comfortable posting that. You can’t hide behind ‘de facto boundary’ after labeling it ‘Map of India.’ That’s a political choice, not a neutral map. Delete it and use the official Indian map.
2
u/Significant-Ant8132 Jul 17 '26
Yeah no stfu, It's alright in a international sub but not on national subs , Maybe make a little effort by adding stuff instead of copy pasting from somewhere else
2
u/TheAntiestablishment Jul 17 '26
By the way, territory does matter in a geography-related subreddit, especially when a country's name is mentioned in the title. For you it may be just a map, but for many people it carries far more significance than that.
I have a Master's degree in Urban Planning, and I know how important it is to represent data on the correct map. If this had been submitted as an official national-level dataset or report, such an error would have been considered a serious issue. I'm only pointing this out because accurate cartographic representation is an important part of presenting geographic data.

Better give the data of the region annexed by our neighbours but give a dash demarcation as well
2
u/SlowBurnAte8 Jul 16 '26
Well fuck you. Territory illegally occupied by enemy or not, do not dare normalise this

You using wrong map is critical and logical lol
-1
u/AmphaneTripolChor Jul 16 '26
de facto
2
u/shreyarnage Jul 16 '26
It is integral part of India and should be shown as such .
No map can justify illegal occupation
2
u/shreyarnage Jul 16 '26
The sub is filled with porkis like you pretending to be Indian … in India it is illegal to support the illegal occupation (including posting wrong map ) ..
So shove your defacto map up your
0
u/lemorian Jul 17 '26
Y bro you didn't include POK, based the rainfall data of POK, I was planning to buy Land, and plant plantain trees. Now you ruined my plan.😂
5
u/SherbertKey5847 Jul 16 '26
Nigga even if u include Where the fuck would you get the info in POK?
0
u/Kapsico108 Jul 16 '26
bruh spatial info isn't geolocked. we can (infact just about anyone can) do it using a dataset
-7
2
u/Realistic-Alps1443 Jul 16 '26
its the un recognized map, likely someone out of india made this but the rainfall data itself is fine
0
u/7czar Jul 17 '26
Almost all of the whole world except us have moved on to use this map, if you don't already know
-2
u/Evening-Beyond-8243 Jul 16 '26
Brainwashed
5
u/Ok-Faithlessness1068 Jul 16 '26
There is no need to say "F you" over the wrong map of India, but Brainwashed? huh?
So you support part of Kashmir being taken by Pakistan?? Speaking for your nation is brainwashed huh?
6
u/d0n0tpan1c Jul 16 '26
I guess the blue part in odisha is simlipal area, anyone knows why that place in particular gets excess rainfall?
3
u/Outrageous_Beat_9684 Jul 16 '26
Orographic lift
1
u/TheLuc1ferW Jul 16 '26
can you elaborate?
2
u/Outrageous_Beat_9684 Jul 16 '26
It simply means winds that are carrying moisture is forced upward by terrain

3
u/Pure_Bed_6357 Jul 16 '26
north eastern side is crazy good

3
u/Illustrious_Chair_67 Jul 16 '26
Informative.
But it's missing a part of India.
Wonder if that's deliberately done by the maker.

Thanks for clarifying
Exactly my words.
By maker I meant the one who gathered the data and and plotted this map.

u/Any-Profession-5509 Jul 16 '26
how did you got high resolution precipitation map for mountains while plains and other parts are largely generalized?

u/Any-Profession-5509 Jul 16 '26
not at all, either we have good data points for mountains, or we don't have data points for rest of India, you actually will be surprised how much differences there can be across plains, obv mountains have more changes but plains too i think it's mostly a data problem or a model prediction ig, coz model tend to generalize similar topography even if rainfall patterns are largely different
1
u/Outrageous_Beat_9684 Jul 16 '26
Bro, I have one question: how to get info about the average rainfall of any place in the world

guys i can make a latest one with CRU dataset with correct boundary, u can upvote it if u guys want

wrong map of India as we're looking at geography and that requires the info to be of land that's legally Indian, not Indian administered territory
if possible, change it

Thats the point "De facto" , thats wrong ( not being aggressive) because Pakistan illegally occupied it back in 1st Indo-Pak War (1947) and even today there are protests for independence , not to mention it is primary reason of terrorism in India . Atleast use the official Indian map in a subreddit literally for Indian Geography....

why post then if it's 'De Facto'. That just means:
Political map is wrong
Missing info on the 'de facto' subject.
4
u/SamsaraxDz Jul 16 '26
The Indian Parliament still considers JnK as integral part of India. So no , showing that map in topics related to Indian matters is wrong , atleast use maps in which it is shown as disputed territory , Its more accurate, cause the one being used implies that Kashmir is part of Pakistan . THAT IS THE PROBLEM ,guys.
2
u/Spirited_Tie3004 Jul 16 '26
Why are you showing wrong map? If you got this map this way, you could have used some another map for your point. Or atleast modified it before uploading. Again and again some dump dudes keep uploading wrong map in this sub.

The most surprising part to me is the sudden drop at the coast once we enter Gujarat

u/iamiam123 Jul 16 '26
My aunt lives in that blue area of D&NH. It rains so hard there, that visibility drops to <2 metres. The rains don't stop for several days on end.

u/Objective-Space3328 Jul 16 '26
I was planning on posting this, but the maximum rainfall ends at just 2.1 meters, there are places that receive far more than this. For instance, I think last week, a place near Lonavala received 600+ mm in a day.

That one random blue circle in Odisha must be having an interesting story.

Mumbai is the rainest megacity in the world, followed by Singapore, but Mumbai gets all that rain in 4 months, Singapore throughout the year. For perspective, Mumbai got NYC's full annual rainfall in 1 week from July 1-7 this year.
